Chapter 99 The Day the Dungeon King Was Born꞉ Plan X and the Maid of Destruction

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”What on earth?!”

”Where did she come from? Suddenly, a person just…!”

 ”Who goes there?!”

The air in the room seemed to fracture as a stunningly beautiful maid, armed to the teeth and radiating a lethal grace, materialized from thin air. The bratty young heiresses shrieked in unison, and the security guards stumbled back, their eyes wide with absolute bewilderment.

I found my mind wandering back to the conversation I’d had with Ami-chan when she first proposed Plan X¹.

”I mean, if we’re going to show off our teleportation ability² anyway,” she’d said with a mischievous glint in her eyes, “why not go absolutely wild?”

”Eh… what is that supposed to mean?” I’d asked, a cold sweat breaking out on my neck.

”We summon Vectra from the Dominion³! She’ll be… let’s see… the subordinate of the Dungeon King who rules the Demon Forest! Vectra, enraged that her King has been slighted, will show off her power with a flourish and—”

”No, no, no, no! That’s terrifying!” I’d protested, waving my hands frantically. “It makes me look like the ultimate villain behind the scenes!”

”But you basically are, aren’t you?” she’d countered with a shrug. “Besides, if we’re showing them we can teleport, we have to bluff hard enough that they realize we’re far too dangerous to try and exploit.”

And so, the grand title of ‘King’ was born. A sovereign of the dungeon-like depths because he ruled the forest. The Dungeon King. It was a flimsy bit of logic, really.

When I first heard the plan, neither Eme-chan nor I had any real intention of actually using it. My plan was simple: if things turned sour, we would just use teleportation to vanish back to the Dominion. Our pursuers wouldn’t be able to follow, and if we stayed tucked away in our own territory, we’d never have to deal with them again.

But I couldn’t do it. My pride wouldn’t let me. Unless I taught these bratty girls a lesson they’d never forget, I knew I would never find peace.

I wanted to give these two—who had lived their entire lives getting exactly what they wanted simply because they were lucky enough to be born wealthy—a proper education in the harsh realities of the world. I wanted them to understand that there are some things you simply cannot have.

Do they have any idea how much blood, sweat, and tears I poured into completing that plantation area? Ever since I was tossed into the forest with nothing but the clothes on my back, I have carved out a life with my own two hands. And yet, they thought they could just swoop in and snatch it away as if it were theirs for the taking!

I couldn’t leave them be. Wealthy, sheltered people like this are the sort who watch others toil and then try to hijack the fruits of that labor without lifting a finger. They know perfectly well that they are the ones who exploit others.

Perhaps that’s how things work in the Republic. In the human world, their status might make that the law of the land. But not here.

The Demon Forest is different. The rules of human society hold no weight there. That land is my Dominion… it is my kingdom!

Perhaps I was getting a bit ahead of myself now that I could produce Resource Point in infinite quantities. Perhaps having Vectra-san and a whole squad of combat maids at my beck and call had made me a little too bold. I was even starting to feel a flicker of actual pride at being called a King.

With that newfound resolve, I put Ami-chan’s Plan X into motion without a hint of hesitation. Vectra-san, who seemed to have already finished her briefing with Ami-chan, bowed deeply and ceremoniously toward me.

”I have come to collect you, my Great Dungeon King. If I may, I would humbly request permission to punish these fools who dared to imprison Your Majesty in such a place.”

”I leave it to you,” I said, trying to sound as regal as possible. “Oh, but try not to kill them.”

”How incredibly merciful of you,” she murmured. “In that case…”

The moment Vectra-san lifted her head, the bearded captain of the guards roared his command.

 ”Seize her!” he shouted.

 ”Yes, sir!”

The guards lunged forward in unison… and then, Vectra-san simply vanished.

It was over in a heartbeat. The room was reasonably spacious, and there were seven guards in total, including the captain. In the blink of an eye, every single one of them had been stripped of their weapons and sent flying against the walls with sickening thuds.

 ”Gah…!”

My eyes could barely track her movements. She must have closed the distance and struck them one by one. To send fully armored, grown men flying with nothing but physical strikes… her combat power was truly on another level.

I thought the guards were the only threat, but then the elderly butler standing behind the girls moved. He drew a saber from his waist with a metallic hiss and lunged at Vectra-san with startling speed.

Even a complete amateur like me could tell he was a seasoned veteran. His movements were fluid, devoid of any hesitation or wasted motion. I saw the silver arc of his saber as it swung toward Vectra-san’s neck—and that was the last thing I saw clearly.

 ”Guh…!”

In the very next frame of reality, the butler’s saber lay snapped in half on the floor, and the man himself had collapsed to his knees. Vectra-san stood beside him, her expression as serene as a still pond, her eyes remaining peacefully closed.

”You moved relatively well… for a human,” she remarked coolly.

 ”Curse… you…”

It seemed the old butler was still conscious. As for the guards, only two of them appeared to have been knocked out completely.

 ”What…?”

 ”How is this…?”

Barely a minute had passed since Vectra-san began her dance of destruction. In that tiny sliver of time, every armed person in the room had been incapacitated. The two girls stared, their eyes wide with a brand of terror they had clearly never tasted before. Seeing them like that, Ami-chan let out a dark, satisfied chuckle.

”My Great Dungeon King! The punishment for these foolish humans is still far from sufficient!” she cried out dramatically.

 ”Eh…?” I stammered.

”These people had the audacity to try and steal the lands ruled by the Dungeon King! This is nothing less than a formal declaration of war against His Majesty! This town and the Dungeon King are now in a state of open conflict!”

She was blowing this way out of proportion! I felt my heart hammer against my ribs. Please, Ami-chan, making this an even bigger deal is making me incredibly nervous!

”Wouldn’t you agree, Vectra?” Ami-chan asked, tilting her head.

”Indeed,” Vectra replied, her voice cold. “They should have been content to quietly enjoy the blessings bestowed upon them by the Dungeon King. Instead, these humans allowed their greed to turn against us. This sin can only be atoned for with the lives of every citizen in this town. If you command it, I shall begin the slaughter immediately.”

”Mhm, mhm! The sins of the town’s leaders must be paid for by the people!” Ami-chan added with a nod.

Their logic was absolutely nonsensical and completely nonexistent! But as they listened to the exchange, the girls’ faces drained of all color until they were as white as sheets.

”Wait…! Th-that’s going way too far!” I shouted, stepping in.

I assumed they weren’t actually serious. At least… I hoped they weren’t. But Vectra-san was swinging her halberd with such terrifying grace that I felt I had to intervene before things spiraled out of control.

”Oh my! As expected, the Dungeon King is far too kind!” Ami-chan chirped. “But we can’t just let them off without any punishment at all… that would be bad for our reputation. So, instead of taking the lives of the townspeople, we shall have this woman take full responsibility! Isn’t that what you meant, Your Majesty?”

 ”Eh?!”

”Hehe! In that case… Vectra! Take the silver one, please!”

 ”As you wish,” Vectra replied.

With a sudden, violent movement, Vectra-san kicked the desk in front of the twin heiresses. The heavy wood shattered into splinters as if it had been hit by a cannonball. The two girls could do nothing but sit frozen in their chairs, paralyzed by shock.

Vectra-san reached out and snatched the silver-haired Iris, tucking the girl under her arm like a sack of grain.

 ”I… Iris!” Aris cried out.

”Do you wish to atone for your sins as well?” Vectra asked, turning a sharp, icy gaze toward her.

 ”……!”

Aris’s voice died in her throat. She flinched, unable to meet those unseen eyes. Iris, too, seemed to have lost the will to resist, hanging limply in Vectra’s grip.

 ”Guh…!”

On the floor, the old butler groaned and tried to push himself up to his knees. But before he could even straighten his back, Vectra-san was there. In a flash of movement, she brought her foot down, pinning him to the floor. The old man gasped as he was crushed back into the dirt.

”Do not waste the short remains of your life here,” she said tonelessly. “Understand that it is only by the mercy of the Dungeon King that you are still breathing.”

Good heavens… Vectra-san is way too strong. She really is the number one fighter in the Dominion. I suspect that old butler was actually one of the strongest people in this room… and she handled him like a child.

”We’ll be taking this foolish girl who dared defy the Dungeon King with us!” Ami-chan announced cheerfully. “She needs to be punished… thoroughly! Now then, Great Dungeon King, let us return to the Demon Forest!”

Ami-chan activated her teleportation ability, and in an instant, we vanished from the room—taking the terrified Iris with us back to the Dominion.”

 Summary:

Following Ami-chan’s ‘Plan X,’ the protagonist introduces himself as the ‘Dungeon King’ of the Demon Forest. Vectra, the powerful battle maid, is summoned and effortlessly defeats the town’s security guards and the twins’ skilled butler. To punish the girls for their attempt to seize his lands, the group decides to kidnap the silver-haired twin, Iris.  Character Insight:

This chapter marks a significant shift in the protagonist’s mindset, as he finally embraces a more assertive and even slightly villainous persona to protect his hard-earned achievements. His anger toward the twins’ entitlement pushes him to abandon his passive ‘avoidance’ strategy in favor of a dominant show of force. Meanwhile, Vectra’s absolute loyalty and overwhelming power reinforce his new status as a ‘King,’ even if the title started as a bluff. The dynamic between the playful yet ruthless Ami-chan and the stoic Vectra highlights the formidable support system the protagonist now commands.
