Volume 13 Chapter 255 Shirogane Kanon, Three Sisters And a Cultural Festival

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Today is finally the day of the Otomezaki Cultural Festival—the day everyone has been looking forward to.

I got up early and had Pegonia help me get dressed. Then I left the babies with my mother-in-law and the others. They’re staying home today, but they’ll come to the festival tomorrow.

”Hehe, Kanon and Pegonia, leave the kids to me. Go enjoy yourselves at the festival!”

 ”Yes, thank you so much!”

 ”Thanks, Madam.”

Honestly, I really wanted to take the babies with me to show them how cool Aqua looks. But a lot of strangers come to the school during the festival, and something bad like the kidnapping from before could happen again.

Also, the babies are only about a month old. Unless there’s a really good reason, it’s best not to take them outside for too long.

”Young lady, there will be another chance next year.”

 ”You’re right, Pegonia.”

Pegonia and I left the house and rode together to school in the same car.

 ”Huh? Where’s Aqua?”

”Master left alone at five in the morning.”

Five in the morning!? Aqua, are you sneaking around again?

Now that I think about it, Emily’s been acting strange ever since we started preparing for the festival. Usually, she plays with Kaede late into the night. But yesterday, after Nee-san told her, “You’re pregnant, go to bed early,” she actually went to her room by herself at 8 p.m.

Even though I had a feeling Aqua might try something the day before the festival, he was surprisingly quiet. The more I think about it, the more suspicious it seems. Both of them have been too quiet these past few days…

”Yesterday, Kohina Yukari even asked, ‘You two aren’t planning something again, are you?’ and both Master and Emily froze and gulped.”

”Yeah, they’re definitely up to something.”

Kohina Yukari always picks up on things faster than I do. Her instincts are way too sharp.

Still, Aqua and Emily are probably just trying to make someone smile again. I don’t mind what they’re doing behind the scenes—I just feel a little left out.

”I wish Aqua and Emily would invite me too when they plan this stuff…”

 Wait—Pegonia!?

Did you really just say my thoughts out loud!? Out loud!?

”Hehe, please stay just the way you are, my lady.”

Ugh! I turned away from Pegonia, who was grinning at me.

Once we arrived at school, we each went to our own classrooms.

 ”Oh, good morning, Kanon-san!”

”Good morning, Ayana-chan. You didn’t come back yesterday, but you’re already here.”

”Yeah. I got back early this morning and came straight to school. I needed to try on my costume.”

 Ah, right.

Ayana-chan missed two days of school for work, so she didn’t get a chance to do the final fitting.

”Can you help me put it on? I can’t zip up the back, and I’ve been stuck for a while.”

 ”Hehe, of course.”

I didn’t think Aqua’s costume sketches would turn out like this.

The outfit Ayana-chan is wearing is one of the main ones, and it looks amazing. Honestly, it’s the kind of style that wouldn’t suit me, so I’m a bit jealous that Ayana-chan can wear it so well.

”Ugh, it’s tight. It fits perfectly, so I might need to skip lunch.”

I wanted to add a side zipper for easier fitting, but the costume was already too complex for changes. I used leather too, and we were on a tight budget…

Still, because it fits so well, it makes her waist and legs look great.

I bet Reira-san and Mikuni-san would look amazing in this kind of outfit too.

”Okay, then I’ll skip lunch too. Let’s eat something tasty after the show, Ayana-chan.”

 ”Yeah!”

After helping Ayana-chan take off the costume with Pegonia, we headed back from the empty classroom we used as a changing room.

 ”Oh, you’re here.”

Kokona-chan saw us and handed us a handmade sign she was holding.

What’s this? The letters on it say it’s for the fashion show.

”It’s open to the public now, so you two hold the sign and welcome people. With you both out front, we’ll get a crowd for sure!”

 ”I see. In that case…”

 ”Yeah, got it.”

Ayana-chan and I took the sign and left the classroom.

”Oh, and if you see Aqua, bring him over. Seriously, where did Uruha-chan and Mayuzumi-kun disappear to…?”

 ”Ugh, my stomach hurts…”

Claire-san, are you okay? If your stomach hurts, just go to the infirmary. Don’t wait.

I left Claire-san with Pegonia and walked with Ayana-chan to the school gate, where people were already lining up. It reminded me of last year’s crowd.

 ”Kyaa! It’s Kanon-sama!”

 ”She’s so cute!”

”Oh wow, the real Kanon-sama is even prettier!”

 ”Kanopon!”

Wait! Did someone just call me Kanopon like it’s normal!?

Thanks to Aqua and Emily calling me that, it’s somehow become a thing. This is bad!

 ”Whoa, it’s Tashinami!”

 ”They’re here! Tashinami!”

 ”Tashinami, where’s Hagetoru~!?”

Seriously!? Tashinami is off-limits! The bulletin board crew needs to chill!

Only the Verification Team can call me that—and only online!

And Hagetoru’s always on TV! Yui already dropped hints—figure it out already!

While I made a face I couldn’t describe, I heard footsteps from the school building.

”Welcome, everyone, to Otomezaki Private Academy’s cultural festival!”

 Was that Uruha-chan’s voice?

 And behind her—

 ”Gyaaaaaaaah!”

 ”Aqua-samaaaa!”

 ”Mayuzumi-kun!”

 ”They look amazing in kimono!”

 ”Wait, is that Kukuri-sama!?”

”Kukuri-sama in a kimono is incredible!!”

I pulled my phone out faster than I could think and started snapping photos nonstop.

”As expected of Otanami—your reflexes are crazy!”

What the—Otanami!? That’s gotta be Emily!

Don’t hide in the crowd—come out already! Geez!

”Everyone, we’re handing out handmade sweets from the tea club. Please come in slowly.”

Ah! So that’s why there weren’t any tea club performances this time.

 Wait… did she say handmade?

”The sweets were made by Shirogane Aqua-san, Mayuzumi Shintaro-san, and Sumeragi Kukuri-sama this morning. Please eat them today. If you’re thirsty, come to the tea room. We have matcha, gyokuro, and sencha ready.”

The crowd began to buzz with excitement at Uruha-chan’s words.

 ”Aqua-sama made the sweets!?”

”Am I going to die of joy today?”

 ”This school is too powerful…”

”Whatever you do, don’t save them. Savor that rice cake like it’s a core memory.”

”This Aqua-sama school’s killing me—in the best way.”

The school probably kept this a secret to keep people from rushing in all at once.

From the school’s view—and from the festival committee, student council, and disciplinary team—what matters most is safety. So this plan makes sense.

”Hey, is that lady a teacher?”

”She looks young, but kind of like a classy bar hostess in Ginza.”

”I heard she’s the school president.”

 ”What? She’s in high school!?”

”Aqua-kun must be in the tea club too.”

 ”And she’s stacked.”

Ayana-chan and I nodded hard at that last one.

 Uruha’s really good at promotion.

Now people are going straight to the tea club, and Aqua, Mayuzumi-kun, and Kukuri-chan in kimono? That alone draws a huge crowd.

After greeting the back of the line, Aqua shouted:

”Hang in there, everyone! Shintaro, Kukuri-chan, and I made these sweet rice cakes this morning. Don’t forget to grab yours and walk in slowly!”

 ”””””””””Alright!!!””””””””””

Aqua’s fans always do exactly what he says.

Hmm… maybe I should just tell Aqua about the Holy Aqua Religion and have him manage it. Then the followers won’t go crazy.

Nah. He’d totally freak out if he knew.

A little while later, the student council president Natalia gave the opening speech.

 ”Good morning! Thanks for coming!”

 ”Th-thank you very much!”

One of the kids blushed as Aqua handed them candy.

”Wait—is Aqua only giving candy to people with big boobs?”

Ayana-chan and I glared at him.

 ”Mayuzumi-kun, I’m a big fan!”

 ”Thanks. Enjoy the festival.”

Mayuzumi’s gotten good at this. He used to be awkward, but now he can smile and talk like it’s no big deal.

 ”Please enjoy yourself today.”

”Th-thank you! I’ll eat it with my grandma!”

Kukuri-sama, when did you join the tea club?

 Did Aqua invite you?

Anyway, the grandma crowd is wild.

Kukuri-sama looked confused as people bowed while giving her candy.

”Hehe, is this the line for salted onigiri made by Tashinami?”

”I’m not handing that out, Emily-senpai!”

Emily-senpai, quit joking and go inside. You’re blocking traffic!

Also, how is no one noticing her?

 ”Ah! It’s Wild Kaede!”

 ”Hogekawa~!”

”Watch out—Wild Kohina is probably here too!”

 ”Is this an otome game!?”

 ”Inko, fix this!”

Emily-senpai’s using the super-visible Kaede-senpai to draw attention away from herself. Classic move.

What? Misdirection? Me? The mythical 6th member of the Verification Team?

There are only four members! Stop saying nonsense!

As I pushed Emily forward, someone came up behind us.

”You all get along as always.”

 ”Oh! Onee-sama! And Hermie too.”

I handed tickets to my sister, Hermie, and Kythera, who’s our guardian.

Just before, Onee-sama was teasing Aqua. But here she is—on time. That’s rare.

”That guy is still super popular.”

She hid her mouth with a fan and watched Aqua talk with the crowd.

I’ve noticed Onee-sama doesn’t mind us maids flirting with Aqua—but strangers? She doesn’t like that.

Emily once said she’s actually pretty clingy when alone with him, but I can’t even picture it.

Even now, she’s giving him the cold look.

”I see, this is the school Kanon goes to.”

”It’s amazing… I want to go here someday.”

Her eyes sparkled as she looked around. Japanese schools must seem totally different from Stars Academy.

”Kanon-san, since we’re here, why not show your guests around?”

 ”Thanks, Ayana-chan.”

With Ayana-chan staying behind to help, I took the older girls on a tour.
