Volume 13 Chapter 260-3 Kazami Rin, The Strongest Proof
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Shizu leveled the kunai in her hand at the person who had spoken up.
I didn’t recognize them. Most likely a watchdog sent by the Women’s Mutual Aid Society—the client. Judging by their clumsy stance, they were probably a disposable pawn.
”Either way, this one dies here. Rin. As the disgrace of the Kazami clan, I will kill you in Mother’s place. So just accept your fate already.”
”I refuse.”
At my words, Shizu broke into laughter.
”Refuse? What could someone like you possibly do, you disgrace?”
”I can do it.”
A ninja loses the right to be called one the moment they’re detected.
By now, Shizu, myself, and everyone else here have already failed that standard. But the style that Toko and Momiji taught me wasn’t the way of the ninja.
”Oh? Then why don’t you give it a try?”
”I will.”
The outcome of battle is determined in the very first move.
I launched forward—fast, precise, without waste. First target: one down.
”Huh?”
In that blink of an eye—before Shizu’s eyes even fully reopened—I took out the enemy behind her who had been preparing a ranged attack. People can’t fight while blinking. If you disappear from their sight in that instant, the battle is already over.
”Huh…?”
”Ah—”
I flowed forward, taking out the second and third enemies in quick succession.
‘Rin. Become the strongest. Gain a power no one can surpass. That way, you’ll never lose anyone again. Surpass me and Momiji. Be the strongest woman in this land. Whether it’s the Stars, the States, or the Mutual Aid Society—it doesn’t matter. To protect what’s dear to you, crush everything with your strength.’
4. I won’t let anyone take away what matters to me ever again.
5. I’ll protect Aqua-sama, Saint, Ruuna, Mikoto—everyone important to me.
6. For that, I’ll become faster. And stronger.
7. Prove it. Kazami Rin.
8. I am the strongest woman in this land.
Eight of Shizu’s followers were already down before she could even react.
”W-wait! When did you… how did you get this strong…?”
”You’re too slow. That’s all.”
I struck again. The two standing at Shizu’s sides dropped before they could even flinch.
That made ten. All of her lackeys—neutralized.
”Eeek!”
Can’t let the Mutual Aid Society’s extra help run off.
I deliberately left only Shizu conscious.
”Now, Shizu. I’m picking up my weapon.”
”Tch. Are you trying to beat me senseless just to vent your frustrations?”
I shook my head.
”No. I’m going to defeat you with overwhelming power… and show the Kazami clan—who are probably watching this through drones or something—that I am the strongest in this country.”
”You’re insane! You’d pick a fight with the entire Kazami clan!?”
I nodded.
Tooko once told me: Serve the master you truly believe in.
That’s why there’s no hesitation in my grip.
”Even if this path leads to ruin… I’ll protect what matters to me. I won’t let the Kazami clan take it away.”
I stepped forward—firm and clear.
I would side with the Women’s Mutual Aid Society, and declare war on the Kazami clan that abandoned this land.
”Come at me! I am the strongest in this country! The one they believe in—the strongest in Japan!”
When was the last time I shouted like that?
After a moment of silence, a voice crackled from the rooftop speakers.
’Riiiiiin! Please hurry and come!’
That voice—Saint!?
A chill ran through me. Aqua-sama was in danger.
”Understood!”
The gymnasium—straight ahead. I dashed forward.
”Damn itttttt! Rin! You disgrace—don’t you dare ignore meeeee!”
Shizu cut into my path. But there was no time.
”Move.”
”Huh—?”
Shizu was sent flying by my charge, collapsing unconscious before she hit the ground.
I burst into the gymnasium, swiftly disabling one of the attackers still struggling inside.
”Phew… You made it, Rin.”
Just in time.
Still, trying to steal the spotlight from Aqua-sama… that’s unforgivable.
I’m absolutely fuming~de gozaru.
”Rin, thank you,” Saint said. “I couldn’t buy the hotcakes you like—they were too expensive. But I did get this plain crepe with cream from a stall. I thought maybe adding mint from the garden would make it feel special…”
Saint… You didn’t have to force yourself if you didn’t have the money.
But if you bought it for me, I’ll eat it with gratitude.
We sat together on a bench, quietly sharing crepes, when a familiar presence approached.
”Aqua-sama!? You’re here!?”
”Ah, I was looking for Emily. She didn’t show up even after the Curtain Call. Wonder where she went?”
”Eh… I, um… had a bit of a stomach issue, so I went to the bathroom… hehe…”
I slowly faded into the background, trying not to interrupt them.
”By the way, Aqua-sama, aren’t you going on a date with Kanon?”
”Why? I went with Kanon last year. She seemed tired, so I thought I’d spend time with Emily this year instead…”
”What!?”
Still holding my crepe, I slowly stood and tried to inch away.
”Wait, huh? Saint, why are you grabbing Rin’s sleeve?”
”If that’s the case… why not let Rin come with us too? Actually, she’s been helping out a lot behind the scenes with Yui…”
”Of course! The more the merrier at the Cultural Festival!”
”Whaaaaat!?”
”I-I’m not ready for this kind of situation!”
And just like that, the first day of the Cultural Festival ended—with me caught between the two people I loved most.
Akimaru: “Why was I picked up by Emily-sama? It’s obvious, right? Because she has big breasts!!”
It seems so. Also, this guy is quite energetic, not just with (Yui).
Notes:
• Tooko – Female. A relative of Kazami Rin who intervened to save Rin from her mother’s abuse. She has a stern appearance and is a skilled ninja. She took Rin under her wing, training her harshly but ultimately helping her grow stronger. Their relationship is complex, as Tooko was also responsible for Akimaru’s death.
• Akimaru – Male. A ninja dog given to Kazami Rin as a birthday gift. He had brown fur and was very loyal to Rin. Their relationship was close, but he was tragically killed during Rin’s ninja training. His death deeply affected Rin.
