Volume 13 Chapter 308 Kythera, Aftermath
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The incident involving the President of the States, Japan’s Prime Minister, and Aqua-sama had officially concluded. At least, that’s what the world would see.
Beneath the Holy Aqua Religion Stars branch, deep in the Orthodox Church headquarters, a carnival of hell unfolded.
”Ahhh! Nooo! Stop—please!”
”I… I’m… comiing! P-please, let me survive this!”
”Ah… my head—it’s boiling—ohhhhh!”
The terrorists, trapped in the relentless grip of the divine Arqua machine, screamed in delirious ecstasy. Outside, worshippers shivered in terror at the spectacle, yet Chihiro Claire—the Overseer, the Workaholic, and top of the Twelve Bishops—shivered with joy, tiny shudders of delight betraying her composure.
”Fools who defied our God,” she intoned, voice tight with pleasure, “now learn the greatness of the divine… Ah, Aqua!”
Trained under Mary-sama and entrusted with the highest role of the Twelve Bishops, Chihiro Claire was no ordinary girl. I had doubted a high schooler could handle such a responsibility, but this woman… she exceeded every expectation. I watched her masked profile, guessing at the rapture etched beneath.
”The suffering is too mild. Increase the intensity, Dutch Arqua. Push them further into madness.”
”Understood. Virgin Touch Mode: ON!”
The room echoed with the terrorists’ delirious cries. Regular worshippers turned away, unable to witness the escalating torment.
Even Chihiro Claire had initially flinched as they did—but witnessing Aqua-sama’s divine acts had shattered something inside her, awakening a cold, calculating thrill. Mary-sama had a keen eye for potential, and the Saint who built the Holy Aqua Religion had chosen wisely. Normally whining about stomachaches and stress, Chihiro’s endurance now rivaled the vastness of the Pacific. I sensed she was even enjoying this.
”From here on, five-minute breaks every fifteen minutes,” she instructed. “Pleasure becomes routine, but if we manage it carefully, they’ll never grow accustomed. And watch for dehydration—death would ruin everything. Oh! When giving water, mix in the calming herb. Soon, consciousness will blur, and they’ll start talking to us.”
Ah, the same herb used in Saint Pharmaceuticals’ Hogeron. Curious that a noble from the Six Aristocratic Families frequented that hillside. Turns out, it was cultivated in secret, disguised as wild grass. Truly Saint—foreseeing every twist. Even my own prodigy, Kanon, was impressive, but Mary-sama and Saint existed on another plane entirely.
No time to linger—I left the torture chamber and headed to where the two people we sheltered awaited.
”Dark Saint, this way.”
”Thanks. I’ll handle the rest.”
I nodded to a worshipper and knocked before entering the room.
”Sorry to keep you waiting in such a cramped space, Morikawa Kaede’s mother and her kunoichi relatives,” I said, reviewing the dossier handed to me moments earlier.
”No problem. As long as I can eat and lie down, I’m fine.”
”Good, good. Kaede-chan doesn’t know yet, so this works in our favor.”
Meeting Morikawa Kaede’s mother and a kunoichi relative here was unexpected. Both had once been protégés of Sumeragi Kikuri.
”About your future… what do you want to do? We try to accommodate your wishes as much as Saint allows.”
Truthfully, I wanted to raise them under the Bible, educate them properly—but they were skilled operatives. For now, cooperation was the safer path.
”Thank you. Then could you arrange our return flight? Our business here is done. I want to get back to Japan, report, and see my beloved daughter.”
”Understood. We’ll have tickets ready in two hours.”
I rang the bell, requesting a worshipper arrange the tickets and ready a car in the underground garage to take Morikawa to the airport.
”Truly, thank you. I’m grateful. Then, take care… I’m glad we met.”
”Likewise. It’s been a long time. If fate allows, we’ll meet again.”
Morikawa left first, and I turned back to the remaining guest.
”So, what about you?”
”I spoke with a woman called Powder Maniac, and I heard my relative Rin is under your organization’s care. Can I meet her?”
I nodded.
”Of course. We’ll arrange your ticket to Japan as well.”
”Much appreciated.”
This was a rare chance. Meeting a kunoichi relative—especially a mentor—meant encountering formidable skill. Powder Maniac had confirmed this. The real test was about to begin.
If we could recruit her through Kazami Rin, she’d become a major asset. That thought made me lean in with a proposal.
”By the way… Kazami-san, didn’t you once serve as a maid for the Sumeragi family?”
”Ah, yes. So? Why do you ask?”
I told her that the kunoichi now served as a maid for the Shirogane household.
”How about it? Would you like to work as a maid there? With our help, getting you in unnoticed would be no problem.”
”Interesting… I like the sound of that. Very well. I’m already a dead woman anyway, so I’ll play along with your plan.”
Heh. So much for subtly drawing her into our faction—she saw right through it. Still, the fact that she agreed knowing the truth was a relief. I shook Kazami’s hand firmly.
”Then I’ll make sure you’re slipped onto the flight returning Her Majesty Shams and Su Shenliu’s harem as a maid. Until then, feel free to stay here. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”
”Thanks… I appreciate it.”
That solved one problem. I left the room and tasked a free-leaning worshipper with arrangements regarding her.
Hmm? That worshipper… vaguely resembled Saint. No, just my imagination. Saint wouldn’t be wandering around in a commoner’s garb.
I entered the intelligence command room, speaking to another worshipper glued to a computer.
”Any new information?”
”No. We analyzed the terrorists involved in this incident—their bank accounts, social security numbers, contacts, communications, records, and security camera footage—but nothing surfaced. It’s unnaturally clean.”
That’s odd. Even the most professional operatives usually leave traces.
The worshipper stood and whispered into my ear.
”Frankly, it’s suspicious. Normally, data alteration leaves logs. Here, even that is missing.”
Indeed. Hundreds were involved, yet not a single trace remains? Unnatural. And the AI3510 overheating at the same time… surely not coincidence.
I muttered over the note in my hand.
”Perhaps… some organization developed an AI capable of countering AI3510…”
Not impossible, though realistically, only States could manage that. I leaned back in my chair with a heavy sigh.
A double spy already infiltrating States… no, that’s impossible now. Aqua-sama’s school trip prevents us from using his powers.
”This matter… is on hold.”
Even if Admin or AI3510 had turned traitor, their reach into Holy Aqua Religion’s core is untouchable. If I sensed it, surely Mary-sama, Kukuri, and Saint noticed as well.
Thinking this way, I can’t imagine Saint harboring Aqua-sama’s enemies among her own. I’ll leave judgment to her.
I rose and left my room, heading to the Stars Orthodox Church above ground.
Though many worshippers had shifted to Holy Aqua Religion, the church still saw visitors seeking confession and prayer.
As the public face of the Stars Orthodox Church, I entered the confessional.
”Um… may I speak to you?”
That voice!? I peered through the gap despite knowing I shouldn’t. Aqua-sama… here? Could he have discovered the Stars branch of Holy Aqua Religion? My heartbeat raced as I tried to calm myself with a deep breath.
”Yes, it’s fine.”
”Thank you.”
Had Aqua-sama come to confess due to pain from this incident? No—this wasn’t his fault. Only the terrorists were to blame. I clenched my teeth and waited for her words.
But Aqua-sama remained silent on the other side of the thin wall.
”I… I think I’ll go home after all.”
”Wait!”
I rushed to stop him.
”It’s fine. I’m just a simple sister. Please, say anything. If it can ease your heart, I’ll do whatever I can…”
”Anything…!?”
Aqua-sama gasped. What on earth…? I hadn’t meant anything inappropriate.
”W-well, about that… problem I need advice on…”
”Yes, please, anything you like.”
He fidgeted, his fingers twisting behind the wall.
”Actually… the Magnum I loaded is about to discharge in my pants.”
”W-what!?”
This isn’t just a matter for Holy Aqua Religion—it could shake the world. I leaned forward, tense.
”Kanon and Victoria-sama are busy… I thought maybe now’s not the time, but my survival instincts are off the charts. No matter what I do, I can’t fix it.”
I swallowed hard.
”Alright… understood. To resolve this, I need to understand the current situation. Could you show me by… putting it into this gap?”
Ah! My innocent, untainted self can’t help but rush, eager to see the divine.
”Yes! Of course!”
And then!?
Out came the Magnum—veins bulging like ripe melons, swelling impressively.
I… I can’t think straight. Words flee me.
”Mm… got it. Situation understood. This is… not good. We need immediate purification.”
”Purification!?”
My heart raced as Aqua-sama yanked back from the small window, his voice a startled yelp. “Whoa!”
”Calm down, Aqua-sama,” I soothed, my voice steady but warm, like a gentle hymn. “This is for your sake, not mine.” [T/N: The confessional setting reflects a pseudo-religious ritual, blending duty with intimacy in Japanese fantasy tropes.]
I leaned closer to the window of the confession chamber, lifting my sister’s robes slightly, her tone inviting. “Please, try again. Put your… trust in the sacred rite.”
”Uh, thanks… I guess I’ll go for it,” Aqua-sama replied, his voice a mix of nerves and excitement, high-pitched and boyish.
I braced myself, my breath catching as I felt his presence through the ritual’s barrier. This is too much… I can’t go back to just prayers after this! I tucked my hair behind my ears, focusing on my duty, my voice soft but fervent. “I understand now… what Saint meant, saying the true relic consumes your thoughts.”
My hands moved gently, tending to the ritual with care. *This holds the essence of joy for so many…* The air grew heavy, my senses overwhelmed by the sacred act, my voice trembling with awe. “It’s… divine.”
”Go ahead, Aqua-sama,” I murmured, my tone encouraging but laced with reverence. “Release your burdens into this sacred space.”
His movements quickened, and I sensed his urgency. I opened the side panels of the chamber, feeling his hands guide me closer. *This could become my everything…* My voice caught, a soft gasp escaping. “Ngh…”
A rush of energy flooded the chamber, overwhelming my senses. *This is the blessing of the divine!* My voice broke into a reverent whisper, savoring the moment’s sanctity. “Such… happiness…”
”Thank you,” I breathed, my tone soft and grateful.
”No, thank you,” Aqua-sama replied, his voice still shaky but warm. “This is… part of your role, right?”
I hesitated, my heart pounding. “But… there’s more.” His enthusiasm hadn’t waned, his presence still commanding. *It’s still so… powerful.* “Would you… like to try the other sacred rite?”
”What? Really?” Aqua-sama’s voice spiked, incredulous but thrilled.
I stepped out briefly, asking him to switch sides. *No turning back now.* Lifting my robes, I removed my heavy brassiere, my cheeks flushing as I studied my softer, less-toned figure. *I should’ve trained more… what if he scorns this?* I slid my undergarments down, leaving them tangled at my ankle, and perched on the chamber’s ledge. *If I keep my face hidden, it’ll be fine.* I adjusted the panels, ensuring my anonymity. “I’m ready. Enter through the other side.”
”Seriously? This is okay?” Aqua-sama’s voice wavered, unsure but eager.
”Yes,” I replied, my tone firm despite my racing heart.
He entered, his gasp echoing. “Whoa!”
I flinched. *My body’s too much… he must think it’s shameful.* “I’m sorry, I’ll clean up—”
”No, no! Is this… really okay?” Aqua-sama’s voice was earnest, almost pleading. “I mean… is this okay with you?”
I peeked through a gap, catching him staring at my discarded brassiere. *He’s… admiring it?* “I’m sorry, the black lace… it’s a bit much, isn’t it? It’s just… the only brand that fits my size.” [T/N: “K-cup” is a Japanese sizing reference, exaggerated for comedic effect in fantasy settings.]
”K-size? It’s perfect!” Aqua-sama’s voice boomed, full of genuine enthusiasm. “Thank you!”
My cheeks burned, my heart fluttering. *He… likes it?* “If you… like it so much, you can do as you please. No one else ever cared.”
”This world’s got it all wrong!” Aqua-sama huffed, his tone indignant. “This? It’s everything!” He leaned closer, his hands gentle but eager, exploring me with reverence. *This… changes everything.* My voice caught, a soft whimper escaping. “Please… soon…”
His movements grew stronger, more confident, and my breath hitched. *He’s watching me…* “No… I’m…!” My body trembled, a wave of euphoria crashing over me as he poured his devotion into the rite. *This is… divine joy.* My voice broke, my body shaking with the intensity.
”Thank you!” I gasped, my tone fervent.
”No, thank you,” Aqua-sama replied, his voice warm and breathless.
But in my daze, I slipped, my weight shifting too far. *Oh no!* My body slid off the ledge, crashing toward the floor.
”Watch out!” Aqua-sama’s voice rang out, and he dove to catch me, landing beneath me with a thud.
”Thank you,” I breathed, relieved my fall was cushioned. Then I froze, touching my face. *My veil!* It had slipped during the chaos, revealing me. “Aqua-sama, I didn’t mean to deceive you!”
My face burned crimson, shame flooding me as I realized my veil was gone. “Oh no…” I stammered, my voice a frantic whisper.
*What do I do?* My heart raced, but I couldn’t stay sprawled atop Aqua-sama. “Sorry… I’m heavy, right? I’ll get up…”
”No way!” Aqua-sama’s voice burst out, bright and fervent, like a kid defending his favorite toy. “You’re not heavy at all! Honestly, I kinda like… the weight!”
*Like?* My heart skipped, a flutter of warmth at his simple praise. *He’s too much…* “But… you must be disappointed, having an old hag like me,” I murmured, turning away, my voice tinged with self-doubt.
What was I saying? Belittling myself like this? I avoided his gaze, my confidence crumbling.
”No way!” Aqua-sama’s voice was firm, almost commanding, as he locked eyes with me. “You’re stunning, Kythera-san. Especially… well, your figure’s totally my type!” His handsome face, sharp and sincere, made my stomach flip. *Too cool for words…*
”R-really?” My voice lifted, a mix of surprise and flattered glee. I felt young again, my doubts melting under his gaze. “So… wanna keep going?”
”Like, be my girlfriend? Or… marry me?!” Aqua-sama’s voice shot up, wild with excitement.
*Girlfriend? Wife?!* My mind spun. “No way, Aqua-sama!” My voice cracked, frantic. “I’m a high-ranking sister in the Holy Aqua Religion! I’m part of the nutcase brigade—think… Verification Team on the Bulletin Board!” I froze. *Wait… the whole Verification Team married him…* My thoughts tangled, chaos reigning.
”B-but… it’d be unfair to Kanon…” I mumbled, my voice faltering.
”Then start as my mistress!” Aqua-sama blurted, his tone desperate but sincere. “Please!”
I nodded silently, my voice lost. *A mistress? Even that’s too much for me…* My heart pounded, overwhelmed by his intensity.
”So… can we, uh, do this face-to-face next? At my hotel?” Aqua-sama’s voice dropped, nervous but hopeful.
”Okay,” I whispered, my tone soft but resolute.
We tidied ourselves, slipping into a taxi in silence, the air thick with anticipation as we headed to Aqua-sama’s hotel. The night stretched on, a whirlwind of passion and connection, leaving me marked by his devotion until dawn.
