Racked with a high fever from the flu, I lay tossing and turning on the bed where Iria had carried me, slung over her shoulder like a piece of luggage.
”Uuugh… nnnh…”
The cooling patch¹ she had pressed onto my forehead provided sweet relief. (Ah… maybe the medicine is finally starting to kick in…) My eyelids began to grow heavy, and I slowly let them drift shut.

(Hmm? What now? I just fell asleep, for heaven’s sake. They really are a noisy bunch. But I guess I slept enough that the fever is breaking. My body feels surprisingly light.) As if guided by his voice, I slowly forced my eyes open.
”Honestly, just how long are you planning to sleep?”
”Wha-!?” I gasped.
I was startled to find Aqua’s face right in front of mine.
”Hey! What do you think you’re doing!?” I stammered. “If you sleep next to me, you’re going to catch my flu!!”
Aqua just stared at me with a blank expression.
(Wait. Did he… grow up?) The Aqua standing before me looked just a little more mature-more like a man-than the one I knew. Seeing my shocked expression, he let out a sudden chuckle.
”The flu? Kohina-senpai, antique maybe you were having some kind of weird dream?”
”Huh? A dream? What do you mean, a dream!?”
While I stood there stunned, Aqua wrapped his hand around my waist and pulled me close.
(Wait, hold on! I don’t care if you’re a total libido monster² on par with Maron, don’t you dare lay a hand on me while I’m still recovering! Besides, even for someone like me, this is my first time… I need a little bit of time to mentally prepare…)
Aqua placed a hand on the back of my head, stroking my hair with a gentle smile.
”It’s okay, it’s okay,” Aqua said.
(Ah… I might actually like this.) It reminded me of when I was a little girl, back when things with my mother weren’t so bad. I remember her stroking my head just like this when I ran a fever. Without thinking, I buried my face in Aqua’s chest. (He smells so… calming. I could fall asleep right here…) Just as my eyes began to flutter shut again, I heard a baby cry.
”Waaaaah! Waaaaah!”
(Satsuki-chan? Or is it one of the others?) Before I could react, Aqua slid out of bed and scooped up a child who had been sleeping in a nearby toddler bed.
”Oops, sorry about that. Let’s see… diaper seems fine. I guess you’re just hungry,” Aqua muttered.
As I sat up, Aqua handed the child to me. (Oh… so cute. What is this feeling? Kanoa-kun and Rinon-chan are sweet, but this baby feels… special.)
”Hey, Aqua… whose baby is this?” I asked, looking up at him.
Aqua gave me a bright, knowing smile. “Kohina-senpai, are you still half-asleep? This is our child.”
(Mine and Aqua’s… baby?) It was impossible. I knew it was impossible, yet I couldn’t find the words to deny it.
”Well, I’m going to go prep the baby food. I’ll leave things here to you, Kohina-senpai,” Aqua said as he left the room.
I looked down at the child in my arms. (This really is… his and mine.) I gently brushed the baby’s hair. (This cowlick, it’s just like mine. And the face-the eyes are mine, but the nose and mouth are definitely Aqua’s!? I can’t tell if it’s a boy or a girl, but they are definitely going to be a total knock-out!! Hawawawa! What do I do!? A future idol!? Or an actor!? No, a parent shouldn’t decide their child’s future… but I can’t help but hope they follow us into acting.)
”Giggle! Coo!”
”So… cute!” I squealed. I finally understood why Kaede and Kanon-san were such doting parents. The sheer cuteness was overwhelming. I never thought I had a maternal bone in my body, but holding this baby made me rethink everything.
”Alright, here comes the baby food Papa made! Thanks for holding them, Kohina-senpai,” Aqua said, returning to feed the child.
Watching them, a smile naturally spread across my face. (This isn’t bad. Not bad at all.) A peaceful silence settled over the room. I felt like I could stare at the baby’s face forever.
”Looks like they’ve tuckered out,” Aqua whispered.
”Yeah,” I replied.
Aqua gently tucked the baby back into the toddler bed. (Hmph. Look at him, acting like a proper Papa.) We both stood there, watching the child sleep.
”…Yukari,” Aqua murmured, sliding his hand back around my waist.
(Is this… does he want a second one already?)
”B-be gentle, okay?” I whispered.
I let Aqua guide me back down onto the bed. Until now, I’d always figured I wouldn’t mind if he made a move, but today, I truly wanted to be held. After all, having a big family wouldn’t be so bad.
”Yukari, I love you.”
”Yeah… me too…”
I looked up at Aqua as he leaned over me and slowly closed my eyes.

(Seriously, how long are you going to keep me waiting for this kiss? Or what, are you trying to tease me? Just do it already!!)
I slowly opened my eyes to initiate the kiss myself.
”Wait… what?”
The familiar ceiling of my room came into focus. My body felt heavy and my head was fuzzy. (Ah… I see. It was a dream. A very happy dream…)
”WAIT, NO! THAT’S ALL WRONG!!” I screamed.
Why on earth was I the one surrendering to him?! If anyone is surrendering, it should be him surrendering to me!
”Sigh… what a nightmare,” I muttered, sitting up and scratching my messy hair. (Though… that baby’s cowlick really was just like mine.) I glanced at the empty spot next to me where Aqua had been standing.
”Oh…” I picked up my phone and checked my messages.
[Shirogane Aqua: Kohina-senpai, don’t you dare die on me!!]
As if I’d die from a little flu, you moron! Honestly, how did the news even reach him to make him that worried? I bet Kaede or Inko blew it way out of proportion. “I’m alive, you idiot!” I typed back.
[Sayamu Inko: Make sure you wrap up warm and get some sleep!! And don’t you forget to stay hydrated!!]
”Are you my mother or something!?” I grumbled, but I sent a quick “Thanks for the help earlier” anyway.
[Jou Maron: I left some jelly and easy-to-eat snacks by your bed. Eat up when you’re hungry.]
Leave it to Maron to be the attentive one. She’s actually quite reliable when she isn’t drinking nano. “I’ll take them, thanks,” I replied.
[Morikawa Kaede: Sending you all my power. Power!!]
[Kato Iria: Take my power! Power!!]
”Stop trying to solve everything with ‘power’!!” I yelled at my screen. “You guys aren’t sending power, you’re just sending nonsense!” I typed “Nonsense!” back at the two power-idiots³.
[Tsukimachi Ayana: Yukari-senpai, please don’t push yourself. If it gets tough, tell me immediately. Rest well until you’re 100%.”]
”Ayana-chaaaan!” She really is the best!! I sent her a heart-felt thanks. I was already starting to feel better just reading her message.
[Atori Ako: Yukari, are you okay? Just because you feel better doesn’t mean you can stay up late.]
(Gah!) How does Akocchi always know exactly what I’m doing? “Fine, fine. I’m going back to sleep,” I muttered, crawling back under the covers.
[Yukishiro Emily: Hehe! I’m ready to give you a sponge bath whenever you want!!]

I turned off my phone and closed my eyes to fall asleep once more. (…If I dream again, I hope it picks up where we left off.)
