Volume 13 Chapter 430 Kato Iria, Inori Hisui, Shirogane Lapis, Tsukimachi Ayana, We Are Ai-dols!!
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
–Kato Iria’s Perspective–
Several days after Aqua-kun and the others headed for Meteorite, I landed in Stars on a different flight from the other Idol groups for the joint live concert planned by Subaru-chan, featuring female Idols from all over the world.
”Um… which way is the concert venue?”
Originally, the manager was supposed to accompany me, but she couldn’t board the same flight as me due to overbooking.
However, considering the bad weather from the previous day, the delayed takeoffs and landings, and the time spent on immigration procedures due to the high-security alert, I couldn’t afford to be dawdling here.
Since I couldn’t speak the foreign language very well, I grabbed a person walking nearby and spoke to them using a “world-universal power language” that heavily relied on body language, just as Kaede and Inko had taught me.
”Idol, Idol, okay?”
”Oh…”
The woman I suddenly spoke to looked a bit bewildered.
All right! The hook is okay!
It seems it really was the right decision to ask for advice from those two, who have been overseas many times.
”Live, venue, where!?”
”Ah…”
While she had a troubled look on her face, she tried her best to understand my words.
Oh, come to think of it, I felt like the name of the live venue was written on the staff pass I received from the manager.
I took the pass out of my bag.
She looked at the characters written on the pass and gave me a thumbs up.
”Oh! Come on!”
”Thank you, arigatogozaimasu!1“
When I followed the woman, she guided me to a taxi stand.
She spoke to the taxi driver and showed them the characters written on the pass.
Then, the taxi driver gave me a thumbs up.
”Okay, okay!”
I conveyed my words of gratitude to the woman who had guided me this far.
No, words of gratitude alone wouldn’t be enough.
I took the liberty of writing an autograph and forced it onto the kind woman who had guided me this far.
”Autograph, dozo!”
”Oh… thank you…”
The kind woman had a subtle expression on her face after being forced to take the autograph board from me, but surely it must be because she was surprised to receive an autograph from none other than me, a world-class Idol.
Yes, that must be it.
The taxi carrying me headed toward the London stadium, which was the venue for the concert and a sacred ground for all artists.
’Tsukimachi-senpai! Kato-senpai! I have a favor to ask!!’
When Subaru-chan, a junior in the Idol industry, came to us out of breath, both Ayana-chan and I were very surprised.
A joint live concert by female Idols and artists from all over the world.
Today’s live concert, scheduled for the very day the mission to destroy Meteorite was taking place, held great significance.
Originally, today’s live concert was intended to be a hymn to praise those who engaged in the mission and a requiem to mourn those who risked their lives for it.
However, the original plan went awry because the initial mission ended in failure.
’If that’s the case, let’s make this a live concert that cheers on Aqua and the others who are doing their best in space, all the people who are doing their best on Earth right now… and everyone who is living their daily lives while fighting fear!’
All the participants, including myself, agreed with the proposal from Ayana-chan.
When I looked outside from the taxi window, I felt sad seeing the entrances of destroyed shops and burnt buildings.
Indiscriminate destruction by people who had become rioters.
While there are people who discipline themselves and are still living normally, there are people who are giving up and doing bad things.
Even though there are people who are doing their best right now, why are there people who do such things?
Overcome with a sense of helplessness, I clenched my fists tightly.
Even though everyone’s hearts were already shaken with fear as they faced a situation far removed from their daily lives, I felt strong anger at the fact that we had to fall into paranoia due to the selfish actions of a few, and feel fear from fellow human beings.
”Fuck! Heavy traffic!”
”Hey, lady, quit bustin’ my chops. That’s just the road being totally packed,” the taxi driver grunted, pointing to the line of cars.
Eh? What, snakes and tigers appeared!? If that’s the case, leave it to me.
I heard the driver’s voice and rolled up my sleeves.
When Aqua-kun appeared in this world, I was convinced that the path I was walking on was not wrong.
As I thought, the era demands an Idol who can fight—a power-type Idol.
Whether it’s giant snakes or tigers, leave it to me!!
As I was swinging my arms around, the confused driver pointed outside.
”Ah… heavy traffic.”
Hm? Where are the snakes and tigers?
The driver pointed at the several cars honking their horns right in front of us and said the same thing again.
Ah, I see… so “heavy tra-something” means traffic jam, huh.
Seeing that I had understood, the driver pointed at the clock.
”Overtime, okay?”
Well, that means I won’t make it to the venue at this rate.
That would certainly be bad.
”It can’t be helped. If it comes to this, I’ll run.”
I handed the money to the driver and got out of the taxi to prepare to run.
”Hey, Idol!”
The taxi driver showed me a map and pointed to the current location and the destination.
I see, it means that if I go straight from here, I’ll be able to see that stadium.
The driver pointed to my luggage and pointed to the stadium once more.
Eh? Does that mean you’ll bring my luggage later?
When I looked at the driver’s face, she nodded with a smile.
”Thank you, arigatogozaimasu!”
”Good luck, Idol!”
I did a fist bump with the driver.
Even if we don’t speak the same language, it’s fine as long as our hearts communicate.
I waved at the driver, ran between the cars, and dashed with all my might toward the stadium venue.
On the way, fighter jets flying in formation rushed over me.
”Is that… towards the concert venue…?”
Something is happening. Yes, I was convinced.
That’s why I have to go. To the venue!!
”Ayana-chan, Maron, everyone…! Wait for me!!”
If I get discouraged by something like this, I can’t be a power-type Idol who acts as a physical pillar to support this industry from the bottom!!
Running in the opposite direction of the people fleeing from the direction of the stadium, I started running toward it.

–Inori Hisui’s Perspective–
A joint live concert by female Idols and artists from all over the world.
I was waiting in the dressing room for the concert’s start time.
”Inori Hisui-san, please move to the side of the stage,” a staff member instructed.
”Yayyy! I’m super happy right now, I’ll go right away!” I chirped.
I took a deep breath, looked at my face in the mirror, and moved to the side of the stage.
At this global joint live concert, I was entrusted with the opening act to warm up the venue before the broadcast.
”Are you nervous?”
”No way! I’m totally ready to shine!”
I shook my head at the words from a staff member I was close with.
My heart was beating so fast it felt like it was about to burst.
But it wasn’t because I was nervous.
It was because I was too excited to stand on that place I stood during rehearsals from now on.
’Sorry about having you do the opening act.’
Subaru-chan had said that, but that didn’t matter to me.
If I could cheer up even one person, if I could bring a smile to someone, it didn’t matter where I stood.
”It’s almost time! Inori Hisui-san, please standby at the designated position!”
”Do your best, Hisui-chan!!”
I thrust my fist up and moved by trolley to the place where there was a device to go out onto the stage from the side of the stage.
On the way, the trolley that I and the staff were riding in shook.
What was that shaking just now?
When I arrived at the designated position, a staff member who was waiting approached me with a tablet.
”Please look at this!”
When I looked at the screen on the tablet, news footage of this stadium was playing.
This stadium… is being targeted?
As the TV footage switched, images of women wearing balaclavas were shown.
A staff member who understood the Stars language explained what they were saying to me.
”This is a statement of responsibility for a crime. The privileged classes in States, Stars, the Far East Federation, the Arabian Peninsula States, and Japan are not thinking about the general citizens at all. The mission to destroy Meteorite is just a sham, a distraction to buy time for them to evacuate to space. And this live concert being held at this traditional stadium in London is also nothing more than a time-buying tactic for them to evacuate to space. This is a holy war to subjugate those evils. That seems to be what they are saying.”
I listened quietly to the words of the staff member who translated for me.
As an Idol and just a high school student, I don’t know anything about what’s happening behind the scenes or the difficult problems of adults.
But the Idols who have come to this stadium are all people of courage and pride who gathered here without regard for danger, sacrificing their own time to respond to the passionate feelings of Subaru-chan and the support of Miyako-chan, Kukuri-chan, Haa-chan, and Fi-chan.
I felt strong anger at a criminal statement that tramples on everyone’s feelings like that.
More than anything, I cannot forgive the method of exposing the people of the whole world who were just looking forward to this concert, and above all, the people who packed the venue, to danger, and ignoring everyone’s feelings.
I gripped the hand holding the microphone tightly.
”Here we should probably evacuate according to the manual,” the staff member noted.
”But where would we evacuate to!?” I asked.
The staff members immediately began to discuss how to respond.
I exhaled slightly, closed my eyelids, and organized the situation.
I think that if about 100,000 people started evacuating all at once from the stadium, it would turn into a major panic and could lead to other accidents.
Therefore, first, I have to calm the minds of everyone who is confused.
I am the only one, an Idol, who can do that.
I stood on the pedestal heading toward the stage, and the staff members who noticed that all turned their gazes toward me.
”I’m going. To calm everyone down.”
Hearing my words, the staff members exchanged glances and nodded in silence.
Like the idols, the staff were gathered from many different countries.
So, I think there were some who did not understand Japanese and could not grasp what I was saying.
Even so, everyone looked at my face and sensed what I was trying to do.
”Inori Hisui-san, go ahead. Please stand by!”
”Hold on a second, what is the meaning of this!?”
I could hear the voices of the bewildered staff.
It was natural for them to be confused. But I felt that wasting time on such an argument was a loss.
If things continued this way, it would lead nowhere.
Just as I was about to explain the situation myself, I heard one man interrupt the staff’s conversation.
”Shut up! If the idol says she’s going, then she’s going!! You’re an idol’s backstage crew, so brace yourself!!”
I was startled by Moja-san’s voice.
Why is Moja-san, who should have remained in Japan, here…?
The staff members also threw the same question at him that I had.
Then, a male voice other than Moja-san’s answered that question.
”Fufufu, when this person is doing something so interesting, there’s no way I’d just sit around in Japan!!”
On the monitor installed near the elevating stage, footage of the wings of the stage appeared.
Moja-san, and also Nobu-san!
Moja-san, having taken a seat from a staff member, put on an intercom headset and grinned at me.
”Director Hongou, who came with us earlier, is rolling a camera she snatched from the local station. It’s a live broadcast to the whole world. Well, aren’t you excited?”
Moja-san gave me a thumbs-up.
”So, you go and blast them away too! Don’t you dare lose to those guys out in space!!”
”Yes!!”
The elevating stage I was on began to move slowly toward the stage.
A year and a half ago, when I applied for the idol audition, I underwent a health checkup at the strong recommendation of Aqua-sama.
”It might have been fortunate in the midst of misfortune that it was discovered in the early stages.”
If it hadn’t, I might have died around the age of 20.
But thanks to Aqua-sama, and thanks to aspiring to be an idol, I was accidentally saved.
I want to live… I want to live more!
When I was told about my illness, an obsession with life was born in my heart.
At the same time, I decided to do everything I wanted to do while I was alive, and live a life without regrets.
That’s why….
”I won’t die from something like this. Not me… and not everyone else!!”
I gripped the microphone in my hand tightly once more.
Idol, Inori Hisui!
The first performer, I am going!!!!
* * *
–Shirogane Lapis Perspective–
We, the members of Milk Dipper, lost our voices as we watched the news program on the monitor.
Why is something like this happening?
”…Onii-sama.”
I tightly gripped both hands placed on my chest.
It’s scary…. It’s scary. People’s malice, their violence.
I was frozen in fear and could not move a single step from that spot.
”Inori Hisui-san, she’s gone!!”
Everyone looked surprised upon hearing the voice of a staff member who flew into the room.
As the image on the monitor in the waiting room switched from the news program to the live feed, Hisui-chan was singing on stage just as she always did.
The audience, which had been noisy at first, gradually, bit by bit, regained their calm through Hisui-chan’s voice and song.
Amazing.
Everyone in the waiting room held their breath as they watched Hisui-chan’s performance.
It is no exaggeration to say she has awakened.
What on earth could have made Hisui-chan like this?
My brother’s words, which I had accidentally overheard before, echoed in my head.
”Hisui-chan will eventually reach a time when she stands alongside me, Ayana, and Iria-san. I don’t know when that will be, though.”
Does that mean… that time is now?
Hisui-chan, who was originally only scheduled to sing one song as the opening act, moved into her third song.
Seeing this, Kukuri-chan stood up from her chair and slammed her hand against the table in front of her.
”Don’t let the original opening act get cold feet!!”
We were startled by Kukuri-chan’s words.
The original opening act was, if I recall, an artist from Stars.
I see, since that person isn’t coming out, Hisui-chan has been singing the whole time.
Kukuri-chan opened the door energetically and looked at our faces.
”There’s no such thing as an order anymore, so we’re going too! Or are you all going to let Hisui, who shared meals and slept together with us during the idol audition, fight alone while she’s doing her best?”
Subaru-chan and the others responded to Kukuri-chan’s words.
”There’s no way we’d let her do that! Let’s go too!!”
”We’re going too!”
”Yeah… let’s go!”
The gazes of Subaru-chan, Fi-chan, Haa-chan, and Kukuri-chan were focused on me alone.
…Truthfully, I am still scared.
Even so, I am not weak enough to abandon a friend who is doing her best.
”Lapis-chan…”
Miyako-chan, who was behind me, stared at me with a worried face.
It’s okay, Miyako-chan. I am also deciding to brace myself right now.
Looking up at the ceiling, I let my thoughts wander to my brother, who is far away.
Onii-sama, please give me just a little bit of courage, for a coward like me.
I gripped my fist tightly and nodded strongly at everyone’s words.
”Let’s go! I don’t want to leave Hisui-chan alone!!”
”Well said!”
”That’s my Lapis!”
We, Milk Dipper, rushed out of the waiting room and moved to the stage wings.
Wait, Moja-san and Nobu-san!?
Seeing the two of them, we were a little confused.
Moja-P noticed our presence and grinned, showing his teeth.
”You’re going!?”
”Yes!” the six of us, including Miyako-chan, said in unison.
”That’s the idol group that guy is producing!!”
Moja-san opened his mouth wide and laughed with satisfaction.
We had already changed into our costumes, so the staff members hurriedly attached pin microphones and intercoms to us.
”Go after the fourth song ends. Give that girl, who’s been doing her best and going all out from the start, a little rest!”
”Yes!”
Everyone immediately switched their mindset to one ready for a live performance.
Ah, compared to that, I am hopeless. Even if I have braced myself, I still cannot get my feelings together because of the fear.
Nobu-san noticed my back trembling and spoke to me gently.
”Just coming here makes you impressive. Good luck.”
”Yes.”
My heart warmed at Nobu-san’s kindness.
Moja-san, who had been listening to our conversation, tapped my back gently to cheer me on.
”Once in a while, give your brother a scare.”
”Y-yes.”
I, scare my brother?
I wonder if a day like that will ever come….
Having reached our designated positions, we went out onto the stage at the instructed timing.
”Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
It’s an amazing cheer.
Even though the situation was like that, Hisui-chan created this atmosphere, this heat, all on her own.
Amazing.
Glancing at Hisui-chan standing on stage, she was drenched in sweat.
Full of wounds. That phrase fits her perfectly.
”Alright, let’s go. Go wild!” Moja-san called out.
Our song started with Moja-san’s call.
I might… be able to do this.
The stage Hisui-chan created, and the heat of all the fans, are making me feel that way.
But, in the middle of our live performance, a huge shock hit the stadium.
”W-what?”
The sound flowing from the speakers cut off midway.
As the lights illuminating the venue went out, I heard the sounds of intense fighting unfolding all around.
Perhaps, the power was lost due to the shock of some attack.
As it became quiet, as if the heat from moments ago was a lie, I heard the sound of the venue buzzing with confusion.
No. The heat and atmosphere that Hisui-chan worked so hard to create are escaping.
I trembled as the terror bore down on me.
’…Onii-sama, aren’t you afraid?’
When I heard from my brother about the Space Mission, I wondered if he wasn’t afraid.
Even if it’s just a “Space Mission,” there is no guarantee that a shuttle launch is always safe.
I have also seen on television several times the sight of a location shoot crashing after a failed launch.
That is why I simply wondered if my brother was not afraid.
’There’s no way I’m not afraid. But, I have companions for whom I can think… ‘I’d do anything for them.”
I looked at the faces of Kukuri-chan, Subaru-chan, Fi-chan, Haa-chan, who were around me, and Miyako-chan, who was in the wings.
Onii-sama… perhaps Lapis can understand a little bit of what you said.
The reason I am able to stand here now is because everyone gathered their courage and pushed me forward.
Therefore, this time, it is my turn to give everyone courage!!
I slowly stepped forward, put down the microphone, and started to sing.
”Lapis!?”
”Lapis-chan!?”
Everyone looked at me in surprise.
More… even more, with a loud voice!!
To the edges of the venue, no, enough to reach outside the venue, put strength into your stomach!
Even if there is no equipment, we are idols.
If the stage and all the fans are here, that is enough!!
”Everyone!”
Miyako-chan, who was in the stage wings, came out to the front wearing spare costumes with us.
Responding to Miyako-chan’s call, everyone stood next to me and began to sing just as I was.
Thank you, everyone!
We sang at the top of our lungs until our voices were hoarse.
But, as if to interfere with that, the stage we were standing on shook again.
”Ah.”
I lost my balance and was about to fall backward.
Danger! The moment I thought that, someone gently caught me.
”You worked well, Lapis-chan. Thanks to your voice, I was able to come this far without getting lost.”
”I… Iria-san?”
Iria-san looked at my face, grinned, and faced forward.
”It’s fine. I, no, we have arrived!”
The buzzing audience quieted down.
I heard footsteps approaching from behind.
From the air pressing in from behind me, I realized who it was.
”Iria, are you ready?”
”Of course. Ayana!”
Ah… these two really are cool.
Fairies’ ace, Kato Iria.
And… Eau De Cologne’s ace, Tsukimachi Ayana.
The center and ace of the two greatest girl groups that Japan boasts.
We stared at their backs.
”Looks like all the players have gathered!!”
We were startled by the voice flowing from the speakers.
As the image on the monitor behind us switched, the figure of Inko-san flying inside the screen was displayed.
”I’ve switched to the reserve power! Everyone, give it your all and blast them away!!” Inko-san shouted.
At Inko-san’s words, everyone looked at each other and nodded firmly.
”We can still sing… we can still dance!” Ayana chirped, her eyes shining with determination.
”Until these voices go hoarse, until these bodies stop moving, take everything I have!”
* * *
–Tsukimachi Ayana’s Perspective–
Unable to reach our target airfield, we were traveling by train and began to run toward the venue.
We heard the news that the stadium was under attack.
Even so, we aimed for the venue, believing that someone was keeping hope alive.
”We’ve arrived! The stadium!” Maron-senpai announced, breathless.
At Maron-senpai’s voice, Fran and I looked up at the stadium.
Thanks to a mysterious group of nuns who helped us along the way, we managed to arrive safely at the destination stadium.
I tried to enter the stadium, but was blocked by a barricade sealing the entrance.
”The hell you lookin’ at?” a guard shouted, leaning out. “You ain’t gettin’ through here, not one step!”
The people who popped their heads out from the barricade sealing the entrance were surprised when they saw our faces.
”Hey, it’s Ayana-chan!” a guard exclaimed.
”Everyone from Eau De Cologne has arrived,” another member shouted. “Move the barricade and make a path!”
Mixed in with the Security Guards, people who appeared to be customers also lent a hand to move the barricade and clear a path for us.
Why, how is it that these people are staying at the stadium?
Without understanding the meaning, we entered the stadium.
”Please do your best with the live show!” an audience member cheered.
”We will fight together with everyone!” another shouted.
”Even though everyone is working so hard, there isn’t a single person running away!”
”We won’t let you fight this alone!”
I turned my gaze toward the stage.
Then I saw the figure of Hisui-chan working hard all by herself.
This is a song that wasn’t on the program.
I see… You set everyone’s hearts on fire.
”Let’s go, Maron-senpai, Fran,” I said, feeling the heat rise. “I’m totally fired up now!”
Maron-senpai and Fran looked at each other and nodded with a smile.
”Yes! That’s how Ayana-chan should be!” Maron-senpai replied.
”As expected, Ayana-senpai!” Fran added.
I had made up my mind a long time ago.
Aqua, I won’t let you be the only one to burn your life away.
I will also stake my life on it, and burn out until I turn to ash right along with you.
We headed from the staff-only passage to the dressing room, quickly changed into our costumes, and stepped onto the stage from the wings.
”Everyone, let’s go all out!” I yelled.
At the perfect timing, Moja-san played the intro.
The members of Eau De Cologne and Fairies grabbed the microphones and sang, alternating while performing dances.
It was to turn off as many microphones as possible to conserve the spare power and reduce electricity consumption.
”Everyone, sorry!” I apologized into the mic.
”We’re going to sing too!”
One after another, Idols and artists from various countries appeared from the stage wings.
I don’t know who the people fighting are. But, right now, the hearts of all of us here are one.
We will never lose to mere violence!
Because, that’s right, isn’t it, Aqua?
’Ayana,’ Aqua said, turning to me with a firm look. ‘I’ve entrusted the smiles of everyone left on the ground to you!’
Aqua said that and held up a clenched fist to me.
”I promise you, Aqua,” I whispered.
In your place, I will absolutely protect everyone’s smiles.
So, Aqua, you absolutely have to come back safely too.
Even if I know that might be impossible, you can somehow manage it, right, Aqua?
”If you die before me or Kanon-senpai, Yukari-senpai and I will break the coffin lid and beat you awake!” I shouted. “If you don’t want that, you absolutely must live!”
I raised my voice toward the sky.
High in the distance above, a fighter plane of unknown allegiance was engaging another in a dogfight.
”Need a hand with that?” a mysterious voice crackled through my earpiece.
Whose voice is that?
I continued singing, trying not to be shaken by the voice that came through my earpiece.
It seems this conversation is audible not just to me, but to everyone else too.
We checked with each other using our eyes during our dance performance.
”I will make your—no, all of your voices reach those fighting over there,” the voice replied.
When the image on the monitor behind us flickered, a screen appeared as if it were hacking something.
I don’t really understand, but that means our voices will reach the people fighting over there, right?
The stadium shook again from the shock of something hitting it.
Even now, for the sake of peace, to help everyone, Aqua! Aqua and the others are working hard, so why do we have to kill each other!
I was, for the first time in my life, more furious than I had ever been before.
I stopped singing and took a deep breath.
”That’s enough!” I screamed into the mic.
The sound coming from the speakers distorted from my loud voice.
”My!”
I squeezed my voice out from the core of my body, from the depths of my stomach.
”””””Our!!”””””
It seems everyone feels the same way.
Together with everyone around me, I looked at the fans who were in the stadium.
””””””””””Listen to our songgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg! “”””””””””
To end this pointless battle, to survive, we raised our voices.
Now, from here on out, it’s a battle of endurance!
Everyone, you’re prepared, aren’t you!?
Follow me! Follow the top Idol, Tsukimachi Ayana!!
In Aqua’s place—no, as the representative Idol of this world, I will be the one to carve out the path for everyone to walk!!
I will make you regret for the rest of your life that you dared to pick a fight with me, Tsukimachi Ayana, who is the disciple of Kohina Yukari, the rival of Shirogane Aqua!!

Trivia:
The concert was intended to be a hymn to praise the Meteorite mission and a requiem for the fallen.
Subaru-chan organized the event with support from Miyako-chan, Kukuri-chan, Haa-chan, and Fi-chan.
The terrorists claim the Meteorite mission is a sham to distract citizens while elites flee to space.
Inori Hisui was saved from a life-threatening illness by the inspiration of the idol industry.
Moja-san’s presence at the venue was unexpected, as he was supposed to remain in Japan.
The performance became a live global broadcast thanks to Director Hongou’s efforts.
The “Space Mission” mentioned by Lapis’s brother is a dangerous undertaking that Lapis previously feared.
The song being performed was not part of the original program.
The stadium barricades were assisted by an unknown group of sisters.
Microphones were turned off to conserve energy and reduce electrical demand.
The monitors display what appears to be a hack to broadcast the idols’ voices to combatants.

Dubbed a “libido monster” by Yukari, his global success elevates his lineage in a skewed-gender world.
