Volume 13 Chapter 433 Hakuryuu Aiko, The Legend of Hakuryuu Aiko Begins!!
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Kanon-san had disappeared, leaving behind only this note: “To Hakuryuu-sensei: I leave the Shirogane Kingdom in your hands.”
”No, no, no!” I cried out, my voice frantic. “Ignoring the question of where Kanon-san went, whoever decided to entrust the Kingdom to me is clearly out of their mind!”
I paced the room, my nerves fraying. “I mean, sure, Kohina-san and Prime Minister Habu are currently off in space, and Agewa-san, Yui-san, and the rest have their own jobs to do—I get that they couldn’t be bothered. But in a time like this, aren’t there other people around? Like, say, Kotono-san?”
I paused, looking around the empty hall. “Wait… where is Kotono-san? Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Kaede-chan or Emily-chan lately either. Is something happening behind my back?”
”I hope everything is alright…”
That thought was, by any measure, a massive flag. A few days after those four vanished, the Shirogane Kingdom’s alarms started blaring. Apparently, we had intruders.
”Well then, Hakuryuu-sensei,” Pegonia said, her voice calm and clipped like a soldier. “I’ll leave this to you. I’m heading to the front lines now.”
”Oh, right…” I stammered, feeling utterly lost.
”Um… Pegonia?” I called out, my voice trembling. “Aren’t you just a maid? And, if I recall correctly, that’s Rin-chan’s relative, Kazami Tooko-san. Where on earth did you get that katana? That’s just a cosplay prop, right?”
Tooko-san didn’t even look back as she gripped the hilt of her sword. “Listen here, you culture-devoid scumbag,” she growled in a rough, streetwise tone. “I don’t care who you are. Don’t think for a second I won’t end you if you step out of line.”
Pegonia sighed, her voice shifting to that of a refined, aristocratic servant. “Tooko-san, pray, do refrain from such outbursts. Even if the opponent is an utter, culture-devoid scumbag, you must not kill them. We cannot allow the blood of unknown ruffians to stain the place where the Young Lady resides.”
”Ugh,” Tooko-san muttered, her tone dropping into a gritty, urban snarl. “What a hassle. Well, I suppose I can treat this as a self-imposed challenge.”
Haha… that’s definitely a joke, right? Right? Pegonia caught my eye, flashed a bright smile, and said, “We shall return,” before jumping straight off the balcony.
(Excuse me, this is the fifth floor.) That’s not real, right?
I tremblingly moved to the balcony, keeping a wary eye on the surroundings as I peered down. Sure enough, Pegonia and Tooko were already on the front lines, fighting alongside Rin-chan and Rinon-san.
”Um… is this some kind of shoot for a show?” I whispered, my mind struggling to grasp the reality of the situation.
Just as I was about to slip into total denial, something whistled past my hair and struck the wall behind me. I turned around, my face freezing when I saw the bullet hole in the concrete. Oh, ahaha… that was a real bullet, wasn’t it? I looked down at the empty shell casing on the floor. Then, someone spoke to me from point-blank range.
”Hakuryuu-sensei…”
”Whoa! You scared me!” I shrieked.
I spun around to see Ruuna, one of the maids, standing there.
”It’s dangerous here,” Ruuna said, her voice strictly procedural. “Let’s head to where everyone else is gathered.”
”O-okay,” I replied weakly.
Following Ruuna, I joined the group. Oh! Victoria-san! Thank goodness, there’s someone here actually capable of taking charge! I approached her with a look of relief. But wait… Victoria-san, why is your hair tied back like that?
”Natalia, we’re moving,” Victoria-san commanded, her tone cold and military-precise. “Even as former royalty, it is the duty of the nobility to stand on the front lines in times of emergency. We shall provide support.”
”Yes, Victoria-sama,” Natalia replied immediately.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Victoria-san headed off toward the front, taking Natalia, Shams, Manaat, the Harem princesses, and the combat-capable maids like Ruuna with her. After they left, I looked around the room. My eyes met with Su-chan’s, who was still just a child. Ugh… I know my social standing is higher, but I can’t let a grown adult rely on a child in a moment like this.
”Alright…” I muttered, trying to project some authority. “Let’s all work together to build a barricade and stay put.”
I helped the others construct a barrier, the sounds of intense combat raging outside the building all the while. What in the world is happening out there?
”I-I’m going to take a quick look,” I said, my heart pounding.
Returning to the balcony, I peeked out to check the situation. Rin-chan, dressed like a ninja, was literally running along the walls, kicking off them as if it were nothing. No, no, no—no matter how much of a dreamer I am, there is no way I’m hallucinating something this wild! I rubbed my eyes and looked again. This time, I saw Victoria-san aiming a rifle, taking precise shots with rubber bullets to incapacitate the enemies.
Wow, she looks like a movie star… and even though Kanon-san’s absence had made me go a bit spacey, it’s a good reminder: the royalty and nobility of the Stars are actually pretty formidable.
”Ugh! Their numbers are overwhelming!” Rin-chan shouted, her voice strained.
”The final, pathetic gasps of a collapsing organization, is it,” Tooko-san replied, her voice filled with a jagged, aggressive menace.
Rin-chan was fighting non-stop, and the fatigue was starting to show on her face. Despite that, the enemies just kept spawning the moment one went down. What are we supposed to do?! Looking toward the back, I saw a column of women marching toward us.
”More reinforcements?” I asked, my voice rising in panic.
”We really can’t take much more of this…” one of the maids muttered.
The column of women stopped in unison. Oh? Looking closer, they were all just regular girls. Everyone in our group looked confused. One of the leaders at the front shouted at the top of her lungs:
”Tashinami! Sister! Are you safe?!”
”Hey, have some concern for Chinsuki and Hagetoru too!” another voice yelled back.
”Worry about Chinsuki…?”
”Hagetoru is tougher than a cockroach, she’ll be fine!”
”You guys, don’t naturally forget about Hakuryuu-sensei!” a voice boomed.
”That’s right!” another shouted. “Aiko-chan might be [censored] years old, but she gets lonely!”
”I don’t know what country you lot are from, but we’re going to make you regret picking a fight with the Bulletin Board regulars!”
”Everyone,” the leader cried out, “now is the time to become a meat shield! Protect the Shirogane Kingdom!”
Everyone…! I was a little sad when my name was forgotten, but it makes me so happy to know there are people who still care. As the Bulletin Board mob swarmed in from all sides, the enemy boss fired a gatling gun into the air.
”Come any closer and I’ll turn you all into a beehive!” he growled in a low, intimidating crime-drama tone.
The boss turned to face Pegonia.
”Those remaining in the Shirogane Kingdom! I promise no harm will come to you if you hand over the princesses of every nation. Cease your resistance and follow our instructions immediately.”
What? I thought they were after the underground shelter; this is a bit underwhelming.
”And what exactly do you stand to gain from that?” Pegonia asked, her tone dripping with aristocratic superiority.
”It’s called high-level political maneuvering,” the boss snapped. “It has nothing to do with you.”
(High-level political maneuvering?) Hold on a second. We’re in the middle of a crisis, and you’re still playing these stupid games? Aqua-kun and Prime Minister Habu are out there right now, giving everything they have to save Earth. Her words made me feel incredibly frustrated.
”How dare you play such petty games while Aqua-sama and the others are fighting for their lives!” I screamed.
”Ha!” the boss spat. “You have any proof that’s true? I doubt it! They probably just went out there to pretend they were destroying the meteorite! You’ve been abandoned by that man!”
That’s a lie! My precious Aqua-kun—the Shirogane Aqua everyone loves—is not that kind of person! If anything, we’re the ones wishing he wouldn’t do dangerous things and would just run away to safety.
”So just give up! You’re all going to die here!”
The moment I heard that, my body surged forward over the balcony railing.
”Shut up!” I bellowed, my voice cracking with intensity. “We’re [censored] years old here! You think a bunch of brats like you have any right to tell women who’ve been fighting tooth and nail just to survive this long to give up on the future?!”
My voice was so loud it startled everyone on the front lines, and they all froze. Meanwhile, the Bulletin Board mob erupted in cheers.
”That’s it! Go, Hakuryuu-sensei!”
”That’s our Hakuryuu-sensei!”
”Tell ’em off!”
Right now, Aqua-kun and his team are fighting to save everyone’s lives, but people without any imagination just can’t grasp that. So, as an author, I began to passionately describe the future that Aqua-kun was trying to build for us. Through elementary, middle, high school, college, and even into adulthood, I’ve been daydreaming constantly. Daydreaming is my specialty—it’s how I’ve been delivering dreams and hope to everyone all this time.
”Gwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!” one of the attackers shrieked.
One of the guys listening to my “dream novel” dropped his gun and started convulsing in agony. Hah! Looks like he couldn’t handle the sickeningly sweet story I cooked up in middle school about my ideal darling. Getting carried away, I launched into the third movement of the dream poem I wrote in high school.
”S-stop! I can’t take any more!” he wailed.
Someone else, unable to stand from the sheer embarrassment, let go of his weapon and curled up on the ground, covering his ears. I’ll send this message to you: “Too cringe, didn’t read! LOL! Go lurk for 100 years, you scrub!” To Hakuryuu Aiko, known as the Infinite Maiden-Manufacturing Machine, this was just the prologue of the tragedy. Everyone exposed to the contents of my “Black History” notebook started writhing in agony.
”Hakuryuu-sensei!” someone cried out. “It’s not just the enemies; the allies are taking massive damage too!”
”Ugh! So this is a double-edged sword!” I exclaimed.
”Why is Hakuryuu-sensei taking zero damage?!”
”Well, that’s because Hakuryuu-sensei is [censored] years old!” a voice retorted. “She’s lived through more, that’s why!”
”Is this… the third weapon, after power and [hoge]?”
From here on out, it was my show. One by one, the rioters dropped their weapons and collapsed. For some reason, even the Bulletin Board guys who came to save us were taking equal damage. By the time I finished reading the first volume of my dream novel, I was the only one left standing.
”Sorry, guys,” I said, breathless. “The amount of dream novels I’ve accumulated and the weight of the ‘Black History’ I’ve carried all these years… it’s just different.”
Perfectly executed… Tsukasa-sensei and the others, watching from afar, were in tears, giving me a huge round of applause. I rested my foot on the damaged balcony railing and gave the mob below a sharp, cool look.
”Hey! You brats!” I shouted. “If you’ve learned your lesson, don’t you ever try to pull any stunts in front of me again!”
”Y-y-yes, ma’am!” they whimpered in unison.
…I won!
”I, the one they called ‘The Weakest’ and ‘The Die-in-a-Flash Hakuryuu-sensei’ on the Bulletin Boards, have finally won. And not just on the boards or the net—I won in the real world, too…! I felt the tears welling up, soaking in the cheers of the crowd.”
”Ha-ku-ryuu! Ha-ku-ryuu!” the crowd chanted.
”Hakuryuu Aiko is the GOAT! Hakuryuu Aiko is the GOAT!!”
”I knew Hakuryuu-sensei wouldn’t let us down!!”
”She literally neutralized them just with her words. That’s a real writer for you!!”
”Hakuryuu-sensei’s game was even better than Aqua-sama’s today!”1
I raised my hands to acknowledge the deafening roar. “Thank you, everyone. Thank you, my dear fans!” And so, the legend of Hakuryuu Aiko—the strongest, most invincible writer—began to spread across the internet, heavily embellished and fueled by the chaotic energy of the Bulletin Board dwellers.

??? Perspective
While the main force was busy assaulting the Shirogane Kingdom, a small, separate unit—myself included—infiltrated the interior through the waterways.
”Main force is wiped,” I barked into the comms. “Let’s move on the payload—hurry it up!!”
Earlier than scheduled, but the total annihilation of the main force was within our projected variables. We peeled off our wetsuits, pulled our firearms from the waterproof gear cases, and assembled them in silence.
”Follow me! GO, GO!”
As Captain, I led the squad toward the objective point. I had already memorized the internal maps of the Shirogane Kingdom to the point of obsession. Upon reaching the target room, I signaled the team. Two to my left, three flanking the door, and the last one kicked it open with everything he had.
”Hands in the air!!”
We flooded the room, clearing the corners instantly. I scanned the interior, a flicker of unease gnawing at my gut.
”Empty…?” I whispered.
I expected to find the maids, or perhaps one of the wives of Shirogane Aqua—including Shirogane Kanon—waiting for us. Panic rising, I shoved one of my subordinates aside and lunged for the crib. The target figures, Shirogane Kanoa and Shirogane Anon, were gone.
”Gwah!”
A cry erupted from one of my men. I turned to raise my weapon, but a sudden impact struck my body, forcing the gun from my grip.
”Who’s there?!” I demanded.
”My, my… that’s supposed to be my line, don’t you think?”
An elderly woman emerged from the adjacent room, a taser in hand. The numbness in my limbs and the searing pain where I’d been hit—was that her doing?
”Ma… Mary Stars Goschenite?” I stammered. “Don’t tell me you knew about our mission?”
This top-secret operation was executed by a skeleton crew, avoiding all internet and telephone lines specifically to counter AI3510. Yet, somehow, the information had leaked.
”Everything you lot are thinking… it’s all transparent to me, you know,” she said with a cold, refined air.
So, this is the Empress Mary, the woman the other nations fear as the ‘Star Reader’ who can foresee even the future? She is in an entirely different league. Is she truly seeing the future, or is it… no, that logic is far too unrealistic.
”Tell me, don’t you think so too?”
Who is she talking to? I looked in the direction of Mary’s gaze, her smile unnerving. The rest of my men were sprawled on the floor, all but one neutralized. I see. There was an internal leak in our unit after all.
”The children?” I wheezed.
”They’re perfectly fine. Lisa-chan, Uruha-chan, and Kokona-chan are looking after them in a safe place.”
As my consciousness faded, I caught a glimpse of the woman Mary was speaking to. A familiar face. I remember her…
The darkness claimed me completely.
