Today’s the day for the beryl&beryl recording.
I have no idea what we’re doing, but it seems like we’re going on an outdoor shoot today.
”Good morning, everyone!”
”Good morning!”
I greet the familiar staff members as I always do.
I make it a point to greet everyone on set as soon as I arrive. That’s my motto… no, my routine.
Communicating with everyone makes the shoot go smoothly, and it also helps me get in the right mindset for filming.
”Hey, Okamoto-san, you got a haircut? It looks great on you!”
”Ah, thank you! I decided to go for a shorter look!”
”Kondo-san, thanks for the souvenir snacks last time. My wife loved them too!”
”Wow, that’s great!”
”Sagami-san, are you going on an overseas shoot? That sounds awesome!”
”Yeah, that’s right. I’ll buy some souvenirs too!”
”Ah, Fuji-san, I heard you caught a cold, but you’re okay now, right? Don’t overdo it!”
”Yeah, I’m all better now. I’ll be careful!”
”Nakanishi-san, this is a bit early, but… happy birthday!”
”What?! You remembered my birthday?! Wow, I’m so happy!!”
Nakanishi-san’s face lights up with joy after receiving the gift from me.
It’s great to see him so happy.
”Shirogane Aqua-san, please stand by.”
”Okay!”
Huh? This is weird…
Usually, when I arrive on set, I’d receive the script for the day or get a briefing from the staff, but none of that is happening.
What are we planning to do today?
”Please give your opening greeting when I give the signal.”
”Got it.”
I stand in the designated spot, waiting for the staff to give the signal to start filming.
”Okay, everyone, it’s time for beryl&beryl!”
I deliberately start with a low tone to create an awkward atmosphere.
The staff can’t help but burst out laughing at this.
”Everyone, do you know what today’s plan is? To be honest, even I don’t know!!”
Yeah, I really have no idea what we’re doing today.
Is it going to be an outdoor relay or some athletic challenge? Or maybe a street shoot?
There’s one weird thing about this.
”Hey! Shintaro And Tenga-senpai too! Where is everyone?!”
Even the staff at Tenga-senpai’s place burst out laughing.
Of course, I didn’t think it was funny, but saying it like that gets everyone pumped up.
As I shout towards the sky, one of the staff hands me a memo.
”Huh? What’s this? Do I just read it?”
I glance at the memo handed to me.
And it says this.
”If you’re a good friend of BERYL, can’t you all gather at the destination without being told? This time, it’s not just the 4 BERYL guys, but also Yamada-kun, Kokucho-kun, and Akami-kun, making it a total of 7 BERYL guys! You won’t go back until all 7 of us are together!! What the…?!”
I’m shocked and ask the staff again about today’s plan.
”So, basically, each of the 7 of us will get the same theme, and we’ll head to the place that comes to mind. The location is limited to within Tokyo, and we’ll keep going until all 7 of us are together. Since it’s for recording, please try to finish it within today, okay?”
”What the…?!”
I put my hands on my hips, look up at the sky again, and gaze at the heavens.
This is definitely going to be tough mentally, especially if I’m the last one left.
Alright, let’s meet up with Shintaro and the others first. That way, we can avoid being alone.
The 3 of us are tight friends, so we’ll definitely meet up from the first question.
”And now, here’s the first theme…”
I receive the board with the theme written on it from the staff, check the written words, and show the camera the text on the board so the viewers can see it too.
”The first theme is ‘If you say high-rise building’… Wait, high-rise building? That’s gotta be BERYL’s headquarters, right!”
”Then, should we go there?”
Uh, I’m stuck for a moment.
For a second, I thought of Fuji TV or Fuji Department Store, but someone will definitely show up, right? It’s BERYL’s headquarters, after all
I decide to trust my friends.
”Yes! Let’s go to BERYL’s headquarters!”
I get on the car prepared by the staff and head towards the destination.
”Help me, someone! I don’t wanna be alone. I don’t want become Kohina-senpai!!”
As I bow my head, the staff bursts into laughter again.
Let me make it clear, this isn’t a joke.
Deep down, I really don’t want to be alone. Because when I’m alone, I’m 100% sure to get teased by Kohina-senpai.
”I’ve arrived at the destination.”
I get out of the car and look around after arriving at the destination.
Huh, what’s going on? This is weird…
”Wait a minute, isn’t Beryl’s headquarters supposed to be way bigger than this? I could’ve sworn it was…”
When I take a closer look, the building right in front of me is actually pretty small compared to the surrounding buildings.
Well, I guess an 11-story building is still pretty tall. Yeah, let’s just think of it that way.
I wait in front of Beryl’s headquarters for everyone to arrive.
Then, an unexpected person shows up.
”What are you doing here?”
”Whoa!”
Why is Kohina-senpai here of all people?
Ugh, this is why she’s such a big shot actress, always so free…
”Kohina-senpai, we’re in the middle of filming right now.”
”Hmm, what’s the plan?”
Kohina-senpai intimidates a random staff member to find out what the plan is.
This person is seriously…
”So, what’s going on? Are you alone right now?”
”No way, no way! I’m waiting for everyone to arrive right now!!”
Kohina-senpai looks at me with a smug face.
Please, someone, help me! Shintaro, Tenga-senpai, Maruo, Kujaku, Hajime! Anyone will do, just come and meet up with me!!
”Shirogane Aqua-san, unfortunately, it’s time’s up here!”
”What? No way!”
As I despair, Kohina-senpai bursts into laughter behind me, holding her belly.
Hey, camera guy! Don’t film that, just film me!
The staff hands me a phone, looking puzzled.
Is this what I’m supposed to do…?
’Hello, everyone? Where are you guys?’
’Hey, where are you, Aqua? Are you off somewhere weird again?’
Rude! The first one to respond was Tōa. Then I said.
’No way, I’m at the headquarters building of Beryl, the company everyone loves!!’
’Huh? Isn’t Beryl’s headquarters a skyscraper? Is Aqua okay?’
Kohina-senpai behind me burst out laughing again.
Hey, stop it! You’re being too much, Mic-san! Don’t pick up that voice!!
’I imagined it would be way bigger! And where did you go, Tōa?!’
’Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. By the way, Shintaro is with me too.’
’Aqua… at least make it the building in front of Beryl’s…’
I realized the same thing when I arrived ―― the building in front of me was huge!
Ugh… I thought we were all friends, but it looks like 2 of them are having fun without me…
’Where’s Tenga-senpai?’
’At Tokyo Skytree Tower…’

’I’m at Ikebukuro Sunshine Tower. Uh, I went to the aquarium with Miyajima-san earlier…’

”So, let’s move on to the next topic.”
I switch my mindset and receive the board with the next topic written on it.
Just like last time, I confirm the topic and hold the board up to the camera so it’s clear.
”I see. The next topic is ‘BERYL’s live concert’… this is going to be tough.”
I’m racking my brain, trying to decide what to choose.
”Isn’t it that one? The Tokyo International Forum on Christmas Day? The live concert they did?”
”Got it. Let’s head there then.”
I ignore Kohina-senpai and get into the car. When Kohina-senpai tries to follow, I quickly close the door and ask the staff member driving to hurry up.
Sigh… this is why senpai is so annoying. She’s a big actress, but she’s got too much free time on her hands.
”Shirogane Aqua-san, how confident are you?”
”Well, I’m sure we can meet up with someone this time, right?”
I respond with a relaxed tone.
Of course. This is already a sure thing.
The Christmas concert is a special event, and Maruo, Kujaku, and Hajime will definitely be there. The whole BERYL team will be gathered, so it’s okay.
I’m fine. Shintaro and Tenga-senpai will be there, and I’ve got it all figured out.

”Everyone has already arrived at the destination.”

I covered my face with both hands as the camera zoomed in on me.

I’m pretty sure the venue was supposed to be within Tokyo.
Maruo might make a mistake like that, but I didn’t think Kujaku would too.
It must have been a memorable concert for the 2 of them.

I ask the producer who’s with me.
”Hmm…this time, we’ll make an exception, just for now!”
”Yes! I did it!”
”As expected of the producer, you’re really understanding!”
The staff around us cheer at the producer’s decision.
Well, I guess it can’t be helped this time.
’Wait, so that means the other 3 Beryl members and Maruo and Kujaku all met up separately, and Hajime and I are alone?’
’Yeah, that’s right.’
’That’s right.’
’Ah.’
I get the feeling that if I try to meet up with the other 3 Beryl members now, it’ll end in failure.
