”Oh my, that look on your face suggests you have a pretty good idea who I mean~desuwa,” Jane said with a playful lilt.
Jane laughed happily, a light “hee-hee-hee” echoing in the room. I had enough people in mind that it definitely wasn’t a laughing matter. Koshino, Kitabayashi-san, Sensei, Kuroki-san, Sasaki-san, and the Class President for starters. Maybe even Amano, Midorikawa-san, and Kusano-san too. The only ones acting like themselves were Shiihara-san, Sakura-san, and Haneda. Come to think of it, Corinna also got all mushy just from being petted in front of everyone, so she might have been under the influence too.
When I mentioned that, Jane’s smile shifted into something a bit more pitying. “Koshino-sama and Kuroki-sama were almost certainly affected,” Jane explained. “However, if you’re asking if everyone’s behavior was entirely due to that person’s power, you’d be mistaken. This kind of mental interference ¹ is harder to pull off against people with high magic reserves ². It won’t have much of an effect on those in the magic-classes. And as for Corinna? An ability of that level doesn’t work on her at all.”
”Right, Corinna’s a total mana tank,” I muttered. “And I think Sensei mentioned being a Floral Mage. Does that mean… Sensei was just being her usual self?”
”I couldn’t say for sure what Nishiyama-sama is like normally, but if she’s obtained a sorcery-type Job, she was likely close to her natural state,” Jane replied. “Of course, the effect might not have been zero, but compared to production-class girls like Koshino-sama or Kuroki-sama who have almost no mana, the influence was negligible. You could basically say she was acting on her own.”
Well, Koshino’s behavior was definitely off the rails. She was acting weird enough for Corinna to label her a total pervert. And Kuroki-san? Back in our original world, she wasn’t the type to just flash a swimsuit at a guy out of nowhere. I thought she was just being naive, but it turns out there was another reason for it.
”By the way, I think it affected Anma-sama too,” Jane added. “Though you’re a bit of a lech to begin with, so maybe it didn’t make a difference.”
”Hey, hey! That’s uncalled for,” I barked back. “Do you have any idea how hard I fought to stay a gentleman today?”
”So you were struggling to hold back, then? I did tell Corinna to step in and stop Anma-sama if things got too wild,” Jane teased.
She giggled softly. Look, with everyone throwing themselves at me, I think I deserves some credit. I want to be praised for the restraint I showed. If I hadn’t been on guard, I’d probably be in the middle of a session with the Class President right now. Wait… come to think of it, when I was massaging the Class President, Corinna stopped me with a little cough. She stopped me with Koshino, too. Was Corinna actually doing a ton of work this whole time…?!
”Was that Job the reason the Princess and the Queen Consort were acting so thirsty?” I asked. “Are they usually more serious?”
”Oh, no. Those two have always been like that~desuwa,” Jane answered. “The primary royals have massive mana pools, so the power won’t work on them. Besides, the range isn’t that wide. I hear it only reaches as far as the next room.”
So it really was just them. The first massage was on the first floor, and the Princess’s room is at the end of the fourth floor hallway. No way the effect reached that far.
”Why didn’t anyone talk about isolating that person?” I asked. “When my Job was Appraised, ‘isolation’ was the first thing they brought up.”
”It probably didn’t seem necessary,” Jane said. “According to Her Highness, those kinds of Jobs pop up every now and then. Once they join the Production Group ³, they’re basically only around women. Nobody really cared if a few girls got into a ‘mood’ every once in a while.”
”Ah… so it only became an issue because of me?”
”You hit the nail on the head,” Jane replied.
So as long as they were in the women’s dorms, it was fine. I was the one who turned a little extra horniness into a problem.
”Her Highness only told me about this because you were going to be massaging the other summoners,” Jane continued. “She said it was ‘relevant to Anma-sama.’ Their original plan was to keep it a secret from us, but since you’d be locked in private rooms with the girls, she decided it was better if we knew the score.”
”…And the score is?”
”That the women might get a bit too excited and cross a line they didn’t mean to. Also, to make sure Anma-sama didn’t lose his head. Since the abilities of an untrained summoner don’t work on Corinna or me, we can easily take you down if you decide to go on a rampage,” Jane explained.
Well, that’s a depressing thought. What a buzzkill. If that was the case, maybe I should have just crossed the line with the Class President while I had the chance. I must have looked totally crushed, because Jane gave me a wry but encouraging smile.
”I don’t think you need to worry that much. It’s just an ability that makes people a little more impulsive. If a woman doesn’t already like Anma-sama, she’s not going to just give herself to you.”
”Then, if they’re the ones making a move, is it okay to go for it?”
”If you’re clearly invited, I don’t see a problem?” Jane replied. “Her Highness’s real intention was for Corinna and me to make sure Anma-sama’s needs were satisfied so you wouldn’t feel the urge to do anything reckless. If it were a real problem, she would have just kept that person away from the massages.”
”I’ll be helping Anma-sama blow off steam every day, so there’s no issue at all,” Jane said, proudly puffing out her small chest.
I went quiet. I really needed to mention the Class President. But if I told Jane that the President warned me not to touch her… Jane was probably going to get pissed.
”So, why did you egg her on like that? Even with that Job influence, you basically turned the Class President into a total nympho.”
”A… nympho? Goodness, I didn’t think it would go that far,” Jane said. “But based on our talk this morning, I thought Anma-sama would be happy if you could have some fun with Owa-sama or Nishiyama-sama.”
”I mean, I’d be happy, sure. But wait—you were doing that for me?”
”Of course~desuwa,” Jane insisted. “If the others start intimate relationships with Anma-sama here, they won’t want to go back to their world. And the more women Anma-sama is involved with, the less you’ll want to leave, right? Especially since you’d lose your memories and be forced back into a monogamous life. I’ll do anything I can to make sure Anma-sama stays with us~desuwa.”
”I don’t know,” I sighed. “I might not want to leave, but wouldn’t the girls just try to talk me into going back with them as a couple?”
”Some might try to keep you all to themselves, I suppose… but once they’ve experienced a real one-on-one session with Anma-sama, I’m sure they’ll see it our way.”
I’m not exactly sure what she meant by that.
