Volume 3 Chapter 5 Plans After The Event

As I got up from her lap, she hesitantly started to speak, “Um… I’m going out with Yuki this Saturday.”
”Oh, right. I remember.”
I had heard about that plan last week, so I replied normally.
”I’m thinking of going out for drinks with Yuki afterward. So… I won’t need dinner.”
”Okay, got it.”
Risa-san said apologetically.
I’m the one who barged in here and is living together with her, so I don’t think Risa-san needs to change her lifestyle or worry about me that much.
Still, it’s unusual. Risa-san rarely goes out with friends. Both of us prefer to spend our days off at home rather than going out.
During the summer event, it seemed like Yuki-san stayed here.
”So, after drinking, will Yuki-san come back here to stay?”
”This time, she won’t stay. I feel bad for Yuki, but I turned her down.”
”Huh…? But this is Risa-san’s house.”
I understand the reason. It’s because I’m here. Should I go back to my old apartment just for that time?
”No way! If it’s just the two of us, there will be conversations I can’t let Shuu hear.”
(I guess so.)
I obviously know that. However, is it really okay to have conversations that are too embarrassing to say in front of me outside, where there are many strangers? I seriously doubt it.
”Have you decided on the bar you’re going to?”
”Um, not yet. I was thinking of heading to Otome Road. It’s a place where people with the same interests gather, so it’s easier to talk about those things.”
Otome Road? Where is that? It’s not around here, right?
When I asked Risa-san about the location, it turned out to be an hour away from here.
”Isn’t that the place where there are love hotels right across the station?”
”Was there? But I’ve never been there.”
Even if she hasn’t been there, I’m worried. Even though it’s a bit far, it’s close to an area that gets unsafe late at night.
”I heard that if 2 girls walk around that area late at night, they get hit on.”
”Ah, yeah. That might have happened. But we just ignore them, and Yuki usually chases them away. Recently, even when I have visible otaku goods like badges or keychains of my favorite characters on my bag, there are still bold guys who approach us.”
She’s already experienced that! Risa-san casually says, “It’s probably because they’re after Yuki, so it doesn’t concern me,” as if she has no sense of danger. That’s not true. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to the opposite sex. Risa-san doesn’t realize that she would definitely be a target. She doesn’t seem like someone who’s used to dealing with men.
Moreover, what I’m worried about isn’t just cheating or being hit on. Given Risa-san’s personality, she probably wouldn’t betray me.
However, if there are guys who clearly express that they like that genre and are interested in it, even if they don’t end up in a romantic relationship, they could become friends with common interests.
Some might think it’s fine to have male friends with similar hobbies, but if they start discussing deep topics that captivate Risa-san’s interest, I wouldn’t stand a chance against someone who knows more than I do.
You never know what might spark someone’s interest. I wanted to minimize the risks as much as possible.
”You don’t have to go all the way there; you can just come back with Yuki-san. It’s close to the event venue. If you want, I can make cocktails or snacks for you.”
”Huh? Does that mean Shuu will run an ‘at-home bar’ for us!?”
Risa-san seemed excited.
”Yeah. I do it at my part-time job, so I remember the recipes and how to make them. If you just cover the ingredient costs, I can cook dinner and even make apple pie for dessert.”
I added another condition as a bonus.
”Is that really okay? Can we really have deep conversations without worrying?”
”I know. There’s no need to hide anything from me now, right?”
That’s the truth.
On the contrary, I know that the kitchen storage doesn’t actually contain the items it should, and that in fact, some of the things stored in the walk-in shoe closet in the entrance hall are not just shoes, umbrellas, and carry bags, but also that particular item.
By the way, I found the hiding spot in the walk-in shoe closet when I was looking for a light bulb to replace the lamp.
”I’ve decided to make it my home! I’ll ask Yuki!” Risa-san started discussing plans for after the weekend event with Yuki-san on her smartphone.
