After breakfast the next day, Risa and Yuki finished getting ready for the event and were relaxing on the living room sofa.
”Yuki, you wear makeup, right? …Maybe I should try wearing some too.”
”Eh! Risa-sensei, what’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”
I instinctively stopped putting away the clean dishes from the dishwasher.
(…I didn’t make Risa-san eat anything weird for dinner last night, did I?)
Risa-san’s private life revolves around securing sleep and meal times to recover her energy. If she has time to put on makeup, she should be using it for sleep instead.
”I haven’t been doing much lately. I feel like just taking care of my appearance isn’t enough. I don’t want to make my patients uncomfortable or anything.”
”You’re fine, right? Risa-sensei, you’re worrying too much. Your skills and judgment are solid, so in the end, you leave a good impression.”
Risa-san’s appearance reflects her personality; she takes care of herself. I think what’s important for a healthcare professional is their skills, not their looks… or is it different?
”Hmm…”
It seems Risa-san has something on her mind, deep in thought. Why is she suddenly concerned about this? She’s not at an age where she should be worried about her skin.
The only recent change might be that her skin has become a bit dry with the cold, dry season.
”Risa-san, you don’t even have any cosmetics, do you? And you probably don’t know how to use them either?”
”Ah! I-I know! You, um, put on some kind of cream… right?”
Risa-san looked at Yuki-san next to her, trying to sound knowledgeable. But Yuki-san replied with a troubled expression, “Yeah, that’s true, but it’s a bit different.”
”This is bad… My femininity continues to fly low.”
”Your fujoshi power is high, though?”
”I can say that with confidence!”
After strongly nodding at Yuki-san’s remark, Risa-san slumped back against the sofa.
”I have a moisturizer just for the face. Risa-san, would you like to use it if it’s for men?”
”Shuu has that kind of stuff too!?”
It’s not like I just have it… I have it proudly placed on the sink in front of the bathroom on the second floor along with my facial wash. Was it not visible?
”Risa-sensei, it’s an essential item for stylish high school boys, you know? Even the male MR who comes to my hospital does basic skincare and light foundation.”
”R-Really? I didn’t notice…”
”But just taking care of your skin and eyebrows can change your impression more than wearing makeup, you know? Why not give it a try?”
Eyebrows… I had been concerned about them too. Risa-san’s eyebrows were unkempt and connected. So, Yuki-san’s advice was spot on.
Even busy Risa-san could manage this beauty routine without too much burden.
”How do you groom your eyebrows? Can you do it, Yuki?”
”Uh… I know how to groom them, but I’ve never done anyone else’s… I don’t have the tools with me.”
I have plenty of new eyebrow razors at home for emergencies, but those are for my own mental stability.
I can’t let those 2 healthcare professionals find out about them; that would be bad.
”Shuu doesn’t have any, right?”
”I do. Should I do it for you?”
I decided to take the initiative. I asked the two of them to wait on the sofa while I went upstairs to get the eyebrow comb and the hidden new eyebrow razor.
”Wow! Risa-sensei, it looks great! Shuu-kun, you’re skilled at cooking and with your hands.”
Seeing Risa-san’s groomed eyebrows, Yuki-san praised me.
”If we’re talking about ‘skill with your hands,’ you two, who do surgeries and procedures regularly, are way better…”
”Listen, Shuu… the skill needed in medicine and the skill needed in everyday life are completely different, okay? Right?”
”Yeah, that’s right.”
No, it’s clear that the skills needed in medicine are far more demanding than those in everyday life. Different…? The fine motor skills needed in daily life seem like something I’ve already mastered, right?
Still unable to agree with their theory about the difference in skills, I sent the two of them off to the event from my house.
(But──Risa-san, you’ve become so cute)
Moreover, it felt good that she became cute with my hands.
