Volume 4 Chapter 13 The Necessity Of Japanese Search
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
As Arshi-san’s break ended and she was about to get back to work, Risa-san said to me, “Shuu, the book you gave me yesterday was really interesting, and I got totally into it.” She probably wants me to tell Risa-san that.
”Oh, a book gift? What’s the title? I’m curious.”
The president of the company, who doesn’t know anything about the book, jumps into the conversation. It’s risky for a regular person to show interest in that book. I wonder if the president can handle bad stories?
”The title? It’s called ‘The Inescapable Cage of Twisted Love and Sadness – Ultima Amore Anthology.’ It’s an anthology with really nice stories, so if you want, you should read it.”
”I’ve never heard of that book.”
”Huh? The author is pretty famous worldwide, though.”
Arshi-san’s Japanese is missing some words. Right now, she forgot to say “in that genre.”
”Right! You can see the cover art and summary online. My smartphone can’t type in Japanese. Shuu, please help.”
”Right now!?”
”Yes, right now!”
Arshi-san wants me to search for the title of the book she got as a gift yesterday on my smartphone. Why? It would have been easier to just tell the president to “look it up.”
I think Risa-san gave her 2 books.
One has a beautiful cover with roses and vines, but it’s a thin book with a lot of skin color, so it’s not something you can show to just anyone. The other is a novel with 2 skinny guys who look like salarymen.
Just knowing the title doesn’t help me figure out which one it is.
”Shuu, can I borrow your phone?”
The title is too long to remember after hearing it just once. While I’m struggling to type it in, Arshi-san snatched my phone away. After using voice input, she made me double-check the text, saying, “I think this is right, but is it correct?”
”Yeah, it’s right.”
… I think.
”Okay.”
Arshi-san touched the execute button.
(Which one is it?)
I showed my phone to the president. A glimpse of the classical art rose appeared on the screen.
(So it’s that one…)
The president’s smile froze when he saw the cover art of the thin book with a lot of skin color, which is not something you want to show in public.
”So… is this the book you got as a gift?”
”Yes, it is! The cover art and the illustrations inside are amazing… it takes my breath away.”
The president’s smile looks stiff, while Arshi-san talks about it dreamily. They’re so different.
”Oh no, I have to go back quickly! Enjoy New York. Shuu, see you!”
With a strange atmosphere left behind, Arshi-san went back to work.
”… So, what should we do for lunch?”
”Um, yeah. Should we do it another time?”
Thanks to Arshi-san (?), I feel like there’s a big misunderstanding. Just a moment ago, we were really close, but now there’s a big distance between us. I got freed without waiting for lunchtime.
