Nokin, as expected, sent Ludmila and Rosvita of Vanguard to fight under his command and charged straight at me.

Although I hadn’t discussed with Milly beforehand, she immediately understood my plan when she released a thick fog of illusion mist that covered her vision at the start.

Seeing Milly’s actions, Flamil quickly chant Mirage Body and transformed into me, urging Elitzina to appear.

When I handed Elitzina to Flamil, I stepped back a little, covered myself with Invisible Cloth, and merged with the terrain.

While Nokin fights Aurelia, I stay hidden on the ground, waiting for the perfect chance to strike and surely defeat her.

That’s the front, but even though I said I would really fight Nokin, recalling his bravery in the Capital City made me shake as the match began.

When Aurelia was defeated and Carly, who was keeping him busy, was also defeated, Nokin charged straight at the disguised Flamil.

Nokin’s greatsword grazed her, but Flamil, who had been sharpening her skills fighting monsters for hundreds of years, skillfully dodged Nokin’s attack and stopped him with [Grand Knock].

Then, Milly, who was also hidden, suddenly surprised Nokin and wounded him; he became paralyzed, unable to move due to Milly’s [Poison].

 Yes!

Now, Nokin should be unable to move!

I think I can defeat him now!

While hiding in the Invisible Cloth, I activated my only new skill gained from tough training──[Critical Bullet], and loaded bullets into the Explode Gunlance.

Because I was still getting used to this unfamiliar fighting technique, my stamina and magic bars nearly ran out at once.

If I take this off, I might not be able to move for a while…

The moment I lose this attack after using up stamina and magic power, I’ll be open and expose myself in front of Nokin.

Sweat starts to beads on my hand.

 I-I’m okay.

My opponent is paralyzed and can’t move.

 They’re an easy target now.

I can definitely land this shot.

 I-should…!?

But then I realize I made a big mistake.

I’ve used too much magic and stamina, and now I can’t activate skills like [Hawk’s Eye] or [Concentration] that boost hit rate.

The fear of not being able to activate those hit-boost skills stiffens my hands holding the Explode Gunlance.

Sweat streams down my forehead like a waterfall, and it gets into my eyes, blurring my vision.

 Damn it!

To have sweat splash into my eyes at this moment!

 Damn!

If I just fire several shots in full auto, I’ll hit him for sure!

Panicking to finish things fast, I decide to fire my last round, a Critical Bullet filled with deadly intent.

And I pull the trigger hard toward Nokin’s blurry figure.

 Fwoooosh.

 B-B-B-BAM, B-B-B-BAM, B-B-BAM.

Where Nokin was standing, dust and smoke rise from the gunfire, blinding my view.

I had just fired the last round, powered by my magic and stamina.

 Clatter clatter.

Black mist rises from the barrel of the Explode Gunlance after finally running out of bullets.

Even Nokin can’t stand this, after seeing that.

As the dust settles, Nokin stands frozen in place.

But something looks different now, compared to just before the shot.

A black mist-like heat haze rises from Nokin’s body.

I’ve seen that heat haze before.

Oh, wasn’t that the aura Milly showed when she instantly killed the Shade Dog?

Milly, seeing Nokin, sharply raises her voice.

”Kent! This is bad! Run! That’s the fighting spirit flaring out when someone’s crossed the line into death! Nokin can’t hold back now!”

Nokin responded to Milly’s voice with a beast-like roar and easily carried a greatsword, then started moving toward Milly.

At that moment, I lost sight of Nokin.

 Wow!

 I can’t see him!

 Where is he!

Feeling uneasy, I brush away the Invisible Cloth and looked around for Nokin.

Just then, I heard a metallic clink, and Milly’s dagger was flung away.

”It’s too fast! Even I can barely block it… Kent… run, surrender… no one can stop Nokin right now!”

Milly, who seemed to be unarmed, drew a small dagger from her hiding place and threw it to stop Nokin, who was running towards me.

Nokin caught the thrown dagger in front of him and threw it back at Milly.

Milly couldn’t avoid the dagger that Nokin threw back, and her leather armor was cut open.

The torn leather armor’s clasp came off, and Milly’s full breasts were exposed to the audience.

But Milly didn’t seem to care and stepped forward again to stop Nokin.

 ”Uuuuugh!! Shushuuuuuu!!”

Nokin, glowing with a fiery combat aura, let out a silent moan and advanced toward me.

Milly kept trying to stop him, but Nokin kept walking straight toward me without slowing down.

”Kent! Move!! If you stay like that, you’ll be killed!!”

Milly’s warning, with a worried look, was overwhelmed by my critical shot, which drained my magic and stamina to the red gauge.

My recovery was slow, so my movements remained sluggish.

”Sir Kent, I won’t let you die!”

The disguised Flamil stepped forward to protect me and stop Nokin, but Nokin, having crossed the danger line, couldn’t be caught in time and struck her down on the ground.

 ”Flamil!”

Flamil, who was fighting hard to hold him back, couldn’t buy enough time for me to recover.

When I looked at Flamil lying on the ground, I saw she’s still breathing, and I felt relieved.

But the battle situation didn’t seem to be improving at all.

”I can’t believe it… I put everything into my Critical Bullet, and now I’m out of gas… Guess I can only trust Mr. Golerg’s armor and shield and go for a brawl.”

I decided to give up on any long-range options and aim for victory in close combat.

But my close combat skills aren’t that great, so my chances look really low.

Still, I thought Nokin must be exhausted since he’s been fighting for a while.

 ”WOoOoooO!!”

Nokin let out a roar from his belly and unleashed his signature Great Wave attack.

A massive Sword Flash was coming straight at me.

I quickly thrust my big shield out and braced my feet.

 CRACK, THUD!

The physical guard from Golerg’s upgraded Explode Gunlance shield blocked Nokin’s Great Wave, but it left cracks in the barrier.

 Oh no!

Just one hit and it’s cracking?!

I can’t take many more hits like this!

Nokin approached the barrier from my armor and shield, swinging his beloved greatsword wildly and gradually chipping away at it.

”I won’t let you touch Kent!”

From behind, Milly aimed for Nokin’s unguarded back and attacked.

Nokin was so focused on destroying the barrier that he didn’t notice Milly sneaking up on him.

 Gotcha!

If Milly catches him off guard like this, even Nokin should go down in one hit!

”Ughh!! No way… how can you see me… I totally caught you off guard…”

Just as Milly felt joy from getting behind him, Nokin, without looking, struck her with the flat of his blade right in the side.

Milly was sent flying across the arena floor like a doll.

No way… is he… stronger than Orphée Bleu? Maybe…

Watching Nokin restart my barrier-busting in front of me, a liver-clenching terror boiled up.

The barrier crumbled bit by bit under Nokin’s slashes.

The Explode Gunlance in my hand trembled finely as Nokin approached.

 Thud!

 Crackle!

The web-like barrier shattered with one strike from Nokin.

Finally, everything separating me and Nokin was gone.

Suddenly, Nokin’s fighting spirit brushed across my cheek.

Trapped in fear, I pulled out the Dragunov and kept pulling the trigger until the bullets ran out.

But the bullets only embedded themselves in the arena walls, not touching Nokin.

Just as I thought Nokin was grinning mischievously, he vanished, and the next thing I knew, my abdomen was throbbing with pain.

The source of the dull pain was Nokin’s greatsword handle, pressing down on my silver steel armor.

”No way! This can’t be true! My silver steel armor shouldn’t just cave in like that!”

Swallowing back the rising bile, I tried to put distance between Nokin and me, but then a fierce impact hit my left cheek.

 Bash!

 ”Ah, my jaw might break…”

Taking a powerful slap from Nokin, I started to see stars and my legs began to wobble.

Nokin didn’t let up, repeatedly driving his open-handed strikes into my cheek.

With each hit, the damage to my brain mounted, and my cheeks swelled up more than double.

Damn… I’m totally raising the death flag here.

Could this be the result of messing around too much with a girl?

Nokin had already thrown away his weapon and started pummeling me with his bare hands.

Each punch to the armor sent shockwaves inside, reversing my stomach juices.

 ”Ugh… I might not make it…”

Taking a fierce blow to the abdomen, I fell forward with my knees hitting the ground, just as Nokin’s knee smashed into my face.

In that moment, a dull sound came from my nasal bones, and my mouth filled with the taste of rust.

The impact from Nokin’s knee was piercing through my skull.

 ”Ugh, blargh!”
