Volume 13 Chapter 10 Special Area

*Kent’s Perspective
After hunting all day, I went back to the camp.
The traders were already done setting up tents, fences, and a clinic.
They even used Sanctuary’s Barrier Magic.
”Mr. Kent… We made sure no monsters can get in. Please, relax.”
Lana looked a little tired when she told me the camp was ready.
She worked hard with her helpers to use Barrier Magic on the camp.
Thanks to her, we had a safe place in the Southern Region.
”Thanks, Lana. You saved me. If the camp wasn’t ready, Milly said we’d camp outside, so I’m really happy. A roof is great.”
I ruffled Lana’s hair, and she blushed.
”Too bad. I wanted Kent to watch the campfire during camping.”
Milly looked disappointed.
I knew she really wanted me to camp outside.
I don’t hate camping, but I can’t have s*x with my wives safely.
I didn’t want to be attacked by monsters during s*x.
”Aah! Kent! You’re back! You didn’t get any weird Skills or Jobs again, did you?!”
Lina jumped at me like she was doing a flying kick.
Lina’s eyes glowed red.
She used her [Person Identification] Skill.
”I didn’t get anything weird. I’m serious about hunting this time. Milly is training me hard.”
Lina looked at me with red eyes, then sighed with relief.
”I don’t have any special skills or jobs, but still, getting a whole new job in just one day? Kent is a real cheater, you know. Normally, you can’t just pop new jobs like that.”
Lina, who was left behind, seems to be in a bit of a mood.
”Being called a cheater… it’s not like I wanted this stuff for free… and I’m not that good at fighting, anyway.”
”C’mon, you’re such a dummy. If you actually trained a bit, you could become strong enough to take on the Demon Continent’s strongest, Clayd, with one hand tied behind your back! I mean, you have all these advantages: the [Red], the growth speed from the Majin Clan, the experience boost from your title, and the ability to use Divine Magic! I don’t think you should be satisfied with just being an intermediate-level Hunter forever.”
Seeing that Lina was about to really lay into me, I decided it was time to make a run for it.
”Well, anyway, let’s call it a day and disperse for now, okay?”
Milly called out to stop me as I tried to escape.
”Kent, we’re having a reflection meeting about today’s hunt tonight, so make sure you show up.”
Under Milly’s unyielding pressure, I could only nod in agreement.
Then, I quickly left the scene.
Only Annabella followed me as I walked away.
* * *
After parting ways with Milly and the others, I decided to take a stroll through the camp with Annabella.
In the center of the camp, the traders had already unloaded their goods from the wagons and spread them out like a market.
They were selling everything from consumables like healing potions and mana potions to high-level equipment.
Here and there, monster hunters could be seen replenishing their spent consumables, selling materials, and upgrading their equipment with the money they earned.
The market place had a corner set up as a Hunter Guild outpost, doing quests and handing out rewards.
Looks busy, huh.
Seems like the other Hunting Groups are wrapping up their hunts and heading back now.
Yeah, and it looks like Hunter Guild also set up some taverns outside.
They’re totally gonna squeeze booze money outta the monster hunters with warm pockets.
When I look toward where Annabella’s pointing, the familiar Hunter Guild waitresses in their uniforms are busily carrying drinks and food to the outdoor tables.
Hunter Guild really knows how to hustle…
The monster hunters, with fat wallets, are throwing a feast at the tables, and the loud chaos is just like the Abyss Vena taverns.
Sir Kent, it looks like the top hunter on the first day will be ‘Black Bullet’ after all.
Annabella points at the makeshift Hunter Guild quest board with the hunting rankings posted on it.
The crowd of monster hunters is thick around the ranking board.
Whoa ── wait!
Ten S-class and 20 A-class monsters?
W-wait!
S-class?!
When I panic about Kerstin and the others succeeding in defeating S-class monsters, Annabella calmly explains.
Apparently, all newly discovered monsters are registered as S-class.
Because their strength is unknown and the Hunter Guild has no info, they just put S-class on them.
The Hunter Guild is drooling over data on undiscovered monsters──probably willing to pay big bucks.
Next time, the hunting ranking will shift based on the info they get.
According to Annabella, Kerstin and the others took down an undiscovered monster and got it certified as an S-rank hunt, which is how they ended up with those impressive hunting stats.
”How did we do?”
”Um, I remember it was 50 E-ranks, 100 60 C-ranks, and one A-rank.”
Annabella immediately told me the hunting results for Crimson Bride.
They may have killed a lot of C-ranks, but since they only took down one high-rank monster, their hunting stats would probably stay in the middle tier.
”Still, Kerstin and the others are amazing… They beat Mr. Matthew and Mr. Soumei to take the top spot…”
While I was feeling impressed, a staff member from the Hunter Guild started fiddling with the ranking board.
A murmur spread among the monster hunters gathered around the board.
Looking at the board again, I saw ‘King’s Sword’ led by Lakia had an insane count of 15 S-ranks and 40 A-ranks, putting them at the top.
Lakia’s group is something else… I thought they relied on Hendric, but even without him, they’re still strong… No wonder they’ve been the top hunting group for years…
Monster hunters around the board started throwing out comments like, “‘King’s Sword is the former Golden Apostles, right… they’re so impressive,’ and ‘Who said they became a weak hunting group without Hendric?’ and ‘Lakia is so cute,’” mixed with a bit of jealousy.
”Sir Kent, you were here?”
When I turned around, there stood Lakia.
She was wearing the lightweight armor made from platinum steel that I gifted her.
By the way, the lightweight armor I crafted used maid suit designs to highlight her curvy body, making it pretty revealing.
Lakia is technically turned into a Carrier now, but she’s never been called to the bedroom even once.
’King’s Sword’ started because of Hendric’s scandal, so if Lakia, who’s the Hunting Group Leader, messes up how she’s handled, it’s pretty much gonna fall apart in the air.
They’re being super careful about it, but Lakia, she’s worried she won’t get called to the bedroom by me, so she eagerly wears her gift──this shiny platinum steel light armor──and makes her eyes all playful and teasing at me.
”Oh, Lakia. That’s quite the result, huh? Fifteen S-rank monsters in a single day?”
”Lucky, that’s all. There are a bunch of new monsters we found, so… more than that, do you remember what you promised for the reward?”
Lakia blushes a little, looks up at me with those big eyes, and suddenly brings up the reward talk all innocent-like.
”Yeah, I remember. The top Hunting Group gets to ask me for anything, right?”
Lakia’s face lights up bright as soon as she realizes I remember what she was after.
