”Lady Delprius… Where did you hear such a story?”
”In the taverns of Lindblum, I shared drinks and meals with miners who were in trouble and told me about it.”
Indeed, Lady Delprius did not abandon politics but interacted with the common folk.
It’s an action pattern that you wouldn’t expect from a normal Black Dragon Clan Royal.
Originally, in the Black Dragon Dukedom, the Black Dragon Clan’s Dragonians were treated as noble beings, served with etiquette, and rarely interacted with the lower classes.
…Could it be that she’s been influenced by Sir Kent, whom she’s been seeing lately…
As a ruler, Sir Kent may have a messy relationship with women, but he’s undoubtedly a ruler who dedicates himself to improving the lives of his people more than any previous ruler, making him a figure worth emulating.
”…I see… but I think that the immortal monsters nesting in the Dragonbone Mountains will only cause more damage if we force our way through…”
”That’s why we’re here to train. Everyone should be stronger after this hunt, and I’ve certainly powered up quite a bit myself. Our Black Wing has no enemies that can’t be defeated! Right, everyone?”
At Lady Delprius’s call, the Dragonewts answer with a roar.
The Dragonewts are spiritedly roaring, full of vitality.
”…There’s no helping it. I’ll report to Sir Kent properly. I was already thinking we should defeat them, but I’ve decided that this is the time. Let’s have Lady Ludmila join us and annihilate the immortal legion nesting in the Dragonbone Mountains.”
”All right, then let’s hurry for the good! Everyone, return to Lindblum once and prepare!”
”””YEAH!”””
At Lady Delprius’s command, the Dragonewts take flight all at once, and I also ride on the back of a Dragonewt with Lady Delprius, heading straight for Lindblum.

*Ludmila’s Perspective
Delprius came back from monster hunting and went straight to me, who was taking care of Lindblum’s business.
He immediately started talking about taking down the monster in the Dragonbone Mountains.
”If my memory serves me right, I only got instructions from Lord Blackdagger to clear out the monsters in the flatlands, right?”
”Ludmila, as the Lord of Lindblum, I must protect the safety of my people. If we leave the monsters nesting in the Dragonbone Mountains, with all its mines, we’ll have dead bodies and get on Kent’s bad side! I’ll exercise my Lord powers and wipe out those monsters!”
Delprius was gesticulating wildly, trying to convince me to take on the Dragonbone Mountains monster hunt.
Like she said, the mountains were infested with undead skeleton armies.
Sometimes, a stray skeleton would even show up near the town or streets.
We’ve sent out hunting parties before and pushed them back near the mountains, but lately, it’s been happening more often.
If something random happens, we could even have deaths.
…Maybe Delprius is right… Plus, if we can secure the lava zones in the Dragonbone Mountains, the Dragonewts won’t have to worry about cramped living spaces…
The reason I was getting on board with Delprius’ proposal was because securing a resting place for the Dragonewts, especially the lava zones, was a pressing issue.
Unlike us Dragonians, Dragonewts eat minerals and need to bathe in lava to grow.
They need a lava zone for their growth, but around Lindblum, there are only small lava zones.
Many Dragonewts are currently waiting for their turn in the lava bath.
So, if we defeat the undead army in the Dragonbone Mountains and clear out the monsters, we can secure a lot of lava zones, which will help the Dragonewts reproduce.
”…I understand. We’ve sent out a few Reconnaissance Units, and it seems like there are about 2 to 3 thousand undead skeletons lurking in the mountains~.”
”I know. I’ve heard it’s bubbling up from some mysterious ruins.”
Delprius was puffing out his chest as he replied.
This info should have been known only to the Dragonewt I sent for reconnaissance and me, but Delprius had found it somewhere.
…This kid has some kind of mysterious charm…
”If you know that much, then we can talk fast. We’ve confirmed through scouting that those ruins are the source of the monsters, so let’s make it our target for an attack. If we’re doing this, we should wipe them out completely so they can’t spring back.”
”Got it. Once I finish getting ready, I’ll head out to the Dragonbone Mountains.”
Delprius said that and then dashed into the bath after stripping off his clothes.
”Lady Ludmila. Are you really going to do this?”
Rosvita asked as she gathered up Delprius’s discarded clothes.
”Well, yes. Since Delprius wants to do this, as her subordinate, I can only support her with all my strength to ensure her success. You feel the same way, right?”
”Well, yes. It would be easy to hold back Lady Delprius because of the danger she faces… but her future depends on this Black Dragon Clan, so I can’t deny it’s also her training to become a queen.”
Rosvita, like me, seemed to sense Delprius’s potential as a ruler and didn’t tell her to stop this dangerous act like before.
”Oh? Are you giving up your job as a protector?”
”No way. If Lady Delprius makes a wrong decision, it’s my duty to reprimand her harshly…”
Rosvita replied seriously, fiddling with her monocle.
She was right; it was our job to advise Delprius when she made mistakes as the elder.
Thus, the expedition to the Dragonbone Mountains was decided, and Lindblum’s streets burst into chaos as Dragonewts and Dragonias prepared themselves for the hunt.

Monster name: Gluttony Hopper
Hunt Rank: E
Type: Insect
Characteristics: A giant grasshopper-like monster about 30 centimeters long.
It’s an omnivore and will eat anything in front of it, even metal.
(It also eats dirt, but will keep digging until it buries itself alive.)
Normally it shows up alone or in small groups of a few, but once in a while, they appear in massive swarms.
When that happens, they cause disaster-level damage, so if found, it’s mandatory to wipe them out and report it.
Monster Name: Thorn Mammoth
Hunt Rank: C
Type: Animal
Characteristics: A mammoth monster with a huge body and terrifying thorny fur.
It swings its trunk around and has a Sudden Rush with its tusks, which can hit hard, but it has no ranged attacks and isn’t particularly tough, so it’s relatively easy to hunt if you strike from a distance where it can’t hit back.
