 …!!

 This is!!

The rich, savory broth soaks into the crispy fried coating, blending with the juicy meat and the intense flavor of the soup… the more you bite, the more the taste explodes in your mouth…

 ”!? M-mmhh… it’s so good… Rosalinda… my cheeks aren’t falling off, right?”

 ”W-Well, anyway… there’s more…”

I asked Rosalinda to check if my cheeks were still attached, and thankfully, they seem to be fine for now.

The others are also dipping their fried chicken into the soup, fighting over who gets the next bite.

”This is just the beginning. Next up is Dragon Fish sashimi. When you add some citrus fruit to it, the flavor will spread even further.”

On a large plate were beautifully sliced Dragon Fish sashimi, with finely chopped citrus peel on the side.

Following Renge’s instructions, I wrapped some citrus peel around the sashimi and stuffed it into my mouth.

The sharp, refreshing citrus taste and the light, fresh flavor of the sashimi gently cleanse my mouth, erasing the heavy oiliness from earlier.

W-Wait, is this… the sashimi’s been marinated in vinegar to bring out the flavor!?

It’s cleaning the greasy taste from my mouth after the soup and fried chicken… at this rate, I’m going to keep eating…

 ”This is bad… it’s so good I can’t stop eating…”

Heta, just like me, used the vinegar-marinated sashimi to cleanse his mouth of the grease and started eating the fried chicken again.

”And we’re not done yet. There’s Dragon Fish steak, sweet and sour Dragon Fish meatballs, and even Dragon Fish tail tataki.”

Renge’s face sparkles with pride as she introduces each dish, clearly overjoyed by how well she cooked these unfamiliar ingredients.

Without thinking, I take another bite of the next dish she offers.

 This steak… is it… ordinary!?

 No way!!

Between the thinly sliced meat, there’s a perfect blend of herbs and a rich sauce, along with the salt and pepper.

I thought it would be bland, but it’s actually packed with flavor beyond what I expected…

”Rosalinda… you know, when people eat something truly delicious, they might just cry… I’m so glad I was born.”

”You’re such a dork. But I won’t say it’s exaggerated. It really can make you cry when you eat something that good.”

Rosalinda happily devoured meatballs, tears welling up in her eyes.

”Come on, Renge, you should join our Hunting Group! You can still run your shop when we’re not on expeditions. Right now, you’d be our personal head cook! And after the Southern campaign, we’ve made enough to establish a solid foundation──no more being called a broke Hunting Group.”

Heta was pushing Renge to join the Hunting Group.

I had forgotten, but Renge had always been a helper, not an official member of the group.

”Y-yeah, that’s right! I can’t do without Renge cooking for me! Don’t you all agree?”

One by one, the members chimed in, all encouraging Renge to officially join the group.

Renge stared at us for a long time, deep in thought, before finally speaking up.

”If Rosalinda wants it, I wouldn’t mind joining. But I won’t be able to participate when I’m running Abyss Vena’s shop. If that’s okay with you all, I’ll join. The only people who enjoy my cooking this much are you guys. Most others just call it ‘weird’ cooking.”

”Renge’s cooking is the best in the continent. I, Rosalinda, guarantee it. Please, join us, and we’ll accept your conditions.”

Rosalinda took Renge’s hand, pleading for her to join the Hunting Group.

The members, already captivated by Renge’s cooking, stared at her with hopeful eyes, almost praying for her to join.

”If Rosalinda and the others want it that badly, I’ll join the Rootless Weed.”

Overjoyed, I hugged Renge tightly, thrilled that she’d agreed to join the Hunting Group.

And so, our Hunting Group gained a dedicated head cook.

 ~New monster~

 They call it a Dragon Fish, but really… it’s a 20-meter-long crocodile.

 Savage by nature, always hungry.

Its jaws crush metal like it’s nothing.

Its scales are tougher than even pure silver, and it can vibrate them to liquefy the ground, letting it “swim” even on land, despite being aquatic.

It attacks with those monstrous jaws and sonic vibrations.

The latter is especially nasty, turning hard targets like rock into sand, and… liquifying softer targets like humans.

A real pain of a monster.
