With Yaalan’s support system in place, the Margrave South District army, the Eastern Garuda Principality army, the Black Dragon Dukedom army, and the True Demon Kingdom army formed a united front against the ‘another world monsters’. They gathered at the front-line fortress, Felward.
Thanks to the backup from other countries, the exhausted soldiers and monster hunters of Margrave South District could finally rest. Healers and nurses from across the continent helped the wounded get better, and they kept returning to the battlefield.
After the other armies arrived at Felward and saw the ‘another world monsters’ firsthand, they felt a real sense of danger. They fought hard to push back the waves of monsters. But a month later, the monsters’ breeding rate had already surpassed the number we could take down in a day.
Just sitting tight in Felward and fending off the enemy wouldn’t cut it. Opinions flew in the General Commander’s office at Felward fortress. They started planning a counteroffensive.
”So, if we just keep defending Felward Fortress, the enemy will only get stronger. But if this place falls… My father-in-law, running the meeting, was practically spitting as he spoke. He held a paper in his hand. Then Nirei Fortress, the great stronghold of Lord Yaalan, becomes our second line of defense. But that means a massive surge of ‘another world monsters’ and Beast Monsters──hybrids of monsters──will appear. The Demon Continent will become uninhabitable!”
The whole room went silent. Everyone stared at the grim report in front of them.
”Lord Arbalest, don’t say such demoralizing things. I am Alonsa Dory, the Killing Strategist! I will show you how to crush these ‘another world monsters’!”
Alonsa stood up, spreading the battle map across the center of the table for all to see. With Hendric gone, Alonsa was back to her old, cunning self. The brief period of childish behavior was over. Some even whispered it was all a ploy. With her rival gone, Alonsa quickly stabilized the Eastern Garuda Principality, which had been thrown into chaos by the lack of a ruler.
The map Alonsa spread out confidently showed the Nirei River and a part of the Fait River, flowing near Felward, circled in red.
”From my survey of the area, that red circle marks a low, marshy part of the land. The ground there is soft. It can stop the ‘another world monsters’ from moving fast. Surrounding it are tall mountains, like a bowl. If we lead enemies into that spot, the water from the dammed Fette River can sweep them away. It’ll be a big blow. Plus, if we mix oil into the river water and set fire to the mountains with fire arrows… we might be able to kill even those tough monsters from another world.”
In Alonsa’s mind, she’s smirking as she explains her plan. She probably imagines the monsters being washed away, then burned alive in the water.
She read the water plan… but setting fire to it all? That’s pure evil…
Alonsa’s cruel scheme makes my back crawl.
”The plan is mine. I’ll lead some enemies into a trap. Lure them in, and spring Alonsa’s trap. Only I can do that.”
Nokin, looking a little worn out, stands up. He puts his arm around Alonsa’s shoulder. It seems he’s totally smitten with her, and Hendric can’t break past their bond.
Hendric, who was put to sleep by Miriel’s Crimson Star agent and brought back to our land, is jealous of Nokin and Alonsa’s closeness. But she feels useless, like she can’t find a way in. Lakia sees right through her. Lakia wanted to come to her room, and took advantage of Hendric’s mental weakness, appearing there with a gift──Hendric didn’t realize she was sneaky, but I was surprised. And the fact that I enjoyed being with Hendric──still a virgin──and Lakia, who finally got her wish, is a top secret of the Margrave of the South District.
Hendric, now my carrier, joined the [Knight’s Sword] unit with Lakia, smashing through her old friends and the monsters from another world.
”Hmm. Lady Alonsa’s plan is quite useful. Arbalest, include it in our counterattack.”
Shifa, the one running the meeting, said they should use Alonsa’s plan. He’s the General Commander of the Four Nations United Army──for now, anyway, as the Demon Lord.
”Yes, sir!”
”Then, we will lead the air fleet and lure the enemy here. There are several volcanoes nearby, so they can heal quickly. Also, it is outside the range of the enemy’s ‘another world monster’ air units, so we can minimize losses. I leave our country’s ground forces to Lord Arbalest. Use them as you wish.”
Ugno, who commands the Black Dragon Dukedom’s air fleet, circled the southeastern part of the battle map. It’s a steep mountain range with volcanoes, but for the Dragonewts and Dragonia who fly, it’s a safer place to rest than the ground, even for the ‘another world monster’ that has trouble with terrain.
Currently, the Black Wing has joined the air fleet. Dee, who inherited Bendavar’s power, showed overwhelming strength. The Dragonia, young and old, all respected her. Fabulanova, her mother, and Ugno, her uncle, had accepted her as the next Black Dragon Duke.
Dee, whose position as heir had been officially restored by Fabulanova, entrusted the command to Ludmila, Rosvita, and Ugno. As long as her power held, she continued to hunt ‘another world monster’ with her father, Clayd.
”The air fleet is fast, after all. That position should be fine. Lord Ugno, please keep Dee from going too wild. I’m counting on you.”
