*Yaalan’s Perspective
Finally, we caught the Margrave South District army. They were exhausted from fighting to clear the ‘another world monsters’ lurking at the Abyss Gate. The army’s losses seemed severe, as I had seen many defeated soldiers and monster hunters along the way here.
After we captured Felward Fortress and took Shifa and his group as they fled, we held everyone except Shifa as hostages at the fortress. Then, with Shifa leading the way, we marched here at a leisurely pace.
Along the way, I saw the blast site where Arbalest had fallen. When Shifa mentioned that he sacrificed himself fighting a Beast Monster to let our allies escape, it made me sick. For a man as great as him to die just to save expendable soldiers was utterly pointless. If he were still alive, I would have scolded him for it.
”Message from General Mild! The Margrave South District army has issued a stop signal. General Mild is awaiting Lord Ilfa’s reply.”
”The decision is already made. Ignore it! We will crush the Margrave South District army completely and seal Kent in the other world!”
”Understood! I will relay that.”
As the officer ran off, Shifa spat out venom.
”It seems King Yaalan does not know the word *loyalty*. A king like that cannot defeat Kent. Kent never breaks his promises! Sir Yaalan, it was Kent who carved the path to the feared Abyss Gate.”
”Do not bark, boy. I already know Kent’s abilities. I am simply waiting for the most beneficial moment for me. If you continue to speak unnecessarily, be prepared to lose two or three bones—as long as you live. I only need you as a hostage when Kent returns safely.”
I brought Shifa as a hostage to use against the soft-hearted Kent, but he has never once cowered. He maintains a calm demeanor when interacting with me, and I’ve begun to think he might be the most promising individual to emerge from this war. His growth is remarkable. He no longer resembles the puppet king under Gwain but seems to possess the budding dignity of a potential conqueror of the continent.
However, I’m sorry, but this continent will belong to me. You should regret having lived during the same time as I.
The march continued. The Margrave South District army sent two more stop signals, but when we ignored them, they decided a confrontation was inevitable and began moving their forces.
They’re late. At this rate, Mild will take the initiative.
The banner of the Margrave South District army belonged to Kondrad, and I could confirm that Kent had already entered the other world.
”Transmit to Mild. Tell him to lure the enemy with five thousand soldiers at the forefront. Draw them out of that ruin and into the plains. If they’re drawn there, the damage will be massive. How to lure them out is up to Mild.”
The officer bowed, spurred his horse, and ran to the forefront. After a while, Mild’s army began to move, snaking like a serpent toward the ruins where the enemy was likely holed up.
Seeing this, I sent instructions to close the gap between me and Mild.
”We will now close the distance with Mild. Once they lure the enemy out, the troops on both wings will spread out widely, pushing the enemy back.”
”Understood!”
After watching the officer run to convey the instructions to the wings, my attendants, Yuri and Rhea, the Lyla sisters, started laughing joyfully.
”With this, Sir Yaalan’s conquest of the continent is virtually complete. The Margrave South District army has taken considerable damage and is weakened.”
”Rhea, don’t let your guard down. Even though they’re injured, the Margrave South District army, known as the strongest on the continent, will push their firepower forward because of their injuries.”
”You’re right, just like Yuri said. They might still have the new type of magic bomb Shifa mentioned. Tell the Magic Corps to reinforce the barriers.”
During the march, several large holes appeared in the ground, and Shifa told us about the powerful magic bombs developed by Kent. However, no such bombs were left at Felward Fortress, and the captured soldiers knew nothing about them.
Knowing Kent, he probably says they can only be used against ‘another world monsters.’ There’s no need to fear weapons that cannot be used. By utilizing the advantage of our large army, we can push them into the other world, and our victory is assured.
