Volume 14 Chapter 43 Rampaging Crazy Bull

*Garvey’s Perspective
It seems the True Demon Dukedom army has discovered our position in the ruins of a manufacturing plant. They halted their advance just outside our combat range and began carefully assembling something. Soon, they fired glowing projectiles from the completed device, causing the wall where my subordinates were hiding to collapse, burying several of them.
Damn, can they use artillery like those ‘another world monsters’? This is troublesome.
Immediately, I ordered my subordinates who had deployed along the wall to move away from it. The soldiers, who had gained more experience fighting ‘another world monsters,’ seemed to sense the power of the weapon used by the True Demon Dukedom army. They quickly moved behind sturdy walls to minimize damage.
However, with the weapons we have, we have no way to counterattack as long as they target us from that position. If we abandon our advantage in the ruins and take the offensive, we’ll be overwhelmed by their numbers and face certain destruction. I cast my gaze toward the main army.
It seemed that the main force, led by Kondrad, was planning to send Charlotte’s unit here. They were moving to take a large detour to the south, and the remaining Monster Hunting troops were on the move.
There’s nothing we can do. Even if we wanted to detour, the artillery has us pinned down. If only the Black Dragon troops had stayed behind, we could have turned things around…
My army also had some Elitzina units from the Aida workshop deployed, but the long-range sniper rifles were still not available. We had no weapons to threaten their artillery position.
It’s looking grim… It seems we’ll have to minimize losses and rely on the southern forces.
All I could do was pray for the Monster Hunting troops heading south.

*Giuliana’s Perspective
We were running through the southern forest with Monster Hunters from the Abyss Gate. In the distance, the True Demon Dukedom army was attacking Garvey’s hideout factory. The sound of gunfire, reminiscent of ‘another world monsters,’ reached us like cannon fire.
”Do they have weapons that can attack from that position… Damn, I have to circle behind and ambush them fast…”
”Ms. Giuliana! But this forest was discovered during reconnaissance before the Abyss Gate was taken. It’s a forest where a herd of rampaging Stampede Bulls ran loose.”
”That’s right, but what’s the problem? If we don’t hide, the ambush makes no sense.”
Near the Abyss Gate, this forest is home to many monsters called Stampede Bulls, about ten meters tall, like small hills of cattle. They attack any ‘another world monster’ that accidentally enters, pounding them in groups. Beast monsters had not yet appeared.
These monsters are originally ranked S, but when they gather in groups, even S-ranked monsters become impossible to defeat solo. Only groups of hunters can hunt them down. Despite being spotted by the Reconnaissance Unit before attacking the Abyss Gate, they were left alone because hunters lacked the power to subdue them, and they only appear near the forest.
”Or rather… It seems we are surrounded. I see many glowing red eyes deep in the forest. Are those Stampede Bulls angry after being disturbed?”
When Elia said this, the others stared into the dark depths of the forest. Even during the day, many flickering red lights swayed in the faint twilight. Seeing the Stampede Bulls, with their territorial attack eyes now glowing aggressively, cold sweat ran down their spines.
”Quick! Everyone climb the trees! Hurry! If you don’t want to die, climb high trees! You’ll be crushed if you stay on the ground!!”
I immediately ordered the Monster Hunters around me to climb the trees. Staying on the ground or climbing high makes a big difference for survival during a Stampede Bull rampage. If you’re at the feet of a ten-meter monster, you could be kicked to death and left mangled. But if you climb high, you might jump onto their backs and avoid the rampage safely.
The Monster Hunters heard my instructions and spread the word. They all started climbing thick, tall trees at once.
Rooooaaaaar!!!
Just as everyone reached the top, one Stampede Bull let out a cry, and the ground shook like an earthquake. Hundreds of Stampede Bulls burst out from deep in the forest.
The Stampede Bulls charged straight toward us, shoving trees aside. When the trees the Monster Hunters were holding onto seemed about to fall, a Monster Hunter leaped onto a Stampede Bull’s back, risking death. Seeing that, others quickly followed and jumped onto the monsters’ backs.
At that moment, a plan to surprise the True Demon Dukedom army surfaced in my mind. I then ordered the Monster Hunters to carry out the plan.
”Everyone, use the Stampede Bulls’ rampage to attack the True Demon Dukedom army! We know how dangerous they are. Chase them down and break their formation!”
Seeing me jump onto the back of a rampaging Stampede Bull, others also quickly jumped onto its back. Then, after stabbing the back of the rampaging bull with my weapon, I succeeded in redirecting its anger toward the True Demon Dukedom army.
