A throbbing, pulsating sound echoed in my ears—so loud it felt like my head would split open, accompanied by nausea. When I forced my eyes open, I found my body submerged in a silver liquid.
”Hah! Where am I? I think I killed the brain monster…”
’It seems you’ve awakened. Your body possesses remarkable power. The cells that merged with me are so aggressive they’ve attacked and attempted to devour mine—something I’ve never encountered before.’
The voice resonated directly in my brain, immersed in the silver liquid. I recognized it as the brain from the test tube, though I couldn’t see its shape.
”Fusion!? What did you do to me!”
’Oh, marvelous! This genetic information—optimized to burn and destroy all life—resembles the descendants created by the fools of the Celestial Kingdom as weapons, just like me. The Garuda Clan aren’t indigenous; they’re biological weapons crafted by the Celestial Kingdom. Perhaps this Grimoire was once their laboratory. If so, meeting you here might’ve been inevitable.’
The voice’s owner seemed to mock me with an irritating tone. I couldn’t understand half of what they were saying.
”Stop rambling nonsense I don’t understand! You’re the boss of the ‘another world monsters,’ the one who stole my world (Deracine), and my enemy—I have to kill you!”
’Hehe, hahaha! No, you can’t. By crushing me earlier, I’ve already taken over your entire body. The fusion is nearly complete. I’m leaving your consciousness as a courtesy. Honestly, you can’t even move a finger right now.’
In that moment, the silver liquid enveloping my body transformed into metal, sealing me completely except for my face.
’The monster data from your possession system greatly advanced my fusion system. With this, I can break through this narrow dimension. Then, I’ll leap beyond Grimoire and take revenge on the Celestial Kingdom. Kekeke, thanks to you, I’ll gain power surpassing the gods.’
”Shut up! Shut up!”
I tried to move my metal-encased body to find the voice’s source, but saw nothing within my sight.
’Oh, by the way, I’m currently fighting your most important person. Want to see? Thanks to the monster data you gave me, my children are even more powered up.’
A silver sphere appeared before me, emitting light and projecting a scene. It showed Kent, Milly, and the Crimson Bride members battling ‘another world monsters’ in the research lab area. The monsters resembled apocalyptic beasts, blending multiple traits like mine, and were overwhelming Kent’s skilled team.
”Using my power is cowardly!”
’Is it? Since I’ve obtained absolute power, I want to try using it, right? Plus, Kent and Feria have the Celestial Kingdom’s divine factor. Waging an overwhelming battle against children of the divine family is so refreshing. If I absorb their factors, I can open the door to avenge those who abandoned me. Finally, I can punish those obnoxious Celestial Kingdom fools. How long I’ve waited for this day.’
The voice shifted from flat to excited, full of joy. Onscreen, the ‘another world monsters’—modeled after apocalyptic beasts—fired beams from their wings and unleashed flames that melted facilities, gradually cornering Kent and the others.
’It’s wonderful, truly wonderful. Just thinking about the Celestial Kingdom’s gods begging for their lives makes my brain boil over.’
”You’re insane!”
’Hm? This aggressiveness came from merging with you. Until then, I only wanted to survive, hiding in another dimension. The gate opening was a coincidence. I sent my children out just to gather enough energy to survive. I never thought about destroying the world. So, the fierce revenge and desire for destruction bubbling inside me now? You gave me that. If I hadn’t merged with you, I wouldn’t even think about taking revenge on the Celestial Kingdom.’
The voice excitedly chattered, but with a new hint of madness. Reacting to it, the onscreen ‘another world monster’ mutated further. A bizarre creature emerged: a lion’s face, a dragon-scaled body, eagle-like wings, and a thick serpentine tail—shedding its silver skin in the light.
”What an ugly creature…”
’Oh my? How unexpected. For you to think the form your possession system deemed optimal is ugly. Those children, specialized for world destruction, aren’t ‘beasts of the end’ but ‘Beast Monsters of the End.’ They have no weaknesses, limitless offensive power, endless physical strength, and can fight until they fall. Such wonderful creatures.’
”If you release that into the world… it’ll truly be destroyed!”
’Isn’t that what you wanted? Your world (Deracine) is already gone, and Kent will soon merge with me. You’re not interested in the world ending, are you?’
The voice spoke as if reading my mind. Everyone had died, and I’d wanted to ‘erase this world.’ Only Kent, who accepted all of me, had stopped me.
’Soon, even Kent will be absorbed. Then, you and Kent can stay together in this world forever. How about it? An attractive proposal, isn’t it? I’ll eliminate all the troublesome children for you.’
”…”
The overwhelmingly attractive proposal spread darkness in my heart—a mass of black negative emotions I’d had before meeting Rosalinda. These feelings, kept in shadows while living with Rootless Weed (Deracine), burst out with the voice’s proposal.
Being with Kent forever… then even these black feelings can heal… I don’t want to be alone anymore….
My heart rapidly corroded, flooded with negative emotions. Painful memories of wandering alone since childhood, eating monsters to survive, surged up. Onscreen, Kent and the others desperately fought the final Beast Monster, but the power gap was overwhelming, leaving them wounded and cornered.
’At this rate, I might kill him by accident. Well, I can absorb the factor even from the corpse, so I don’t mind.’
”N-No! Don’t kill Kent!”
’Really? Then I’ll absorb him. A present for you, who granted me power. Wait just a little.’
As the voice said that, my consciousness faded away.
