At this point, if I went back to save Kent, I would break my promise to Elder Sister and lose Kent’s trust. So, I tried to convince Delprius and Kerstin.
”Kent will be fine. Everyone knows that perverted, lecherous Majin won’t die so easily. Besides, Dear Big Sister Milly is with him, so it’s fine. We should focus on completing our orders and work hard to earn a reward from Kent.”
I forced a calm expression, even though I was struggling inside, and it was unclear if they believed me.
”I can’t help it. If Kent gets angry, it’ll cause me trouble too. I’ll follow your orders, secure the entrance, and hold off the giant.”
”Right. At least, once we join the army, we can form a rescue team for Kent.”
Though they sensed my worry, they didn’t push further, understanding how I felt.
”Please, if there’s any magic recovery potion left, share it. Everyone’s exhausted and about to collapse.”
”The magic recovery potions are already gone. Ride on my back. It’ll help restore your strength a little.”
With that, I climbed onto Delprius’s back. She had transformed into a giant dragon. Everyone was so tired they couldn’t move.

*Kent’s perspective
As I watched Feria and Ines being absorbed by the monstrous creature, a voiceless scream escaped my throat. The creature then mockingly displayed their faces on its skin.
”Damn it! This filthy creature!!”
”Kent! No! Calm down!”
Milly desperately held me back as I tried to charge at the enemy in rage. I felt the same helplessness I’d experienced during the Orphée Bleu battle.
I thought I’d become strong enough to protect everyone, but here I was again, unable to save anyone. What was the point of gaining the strongest power, [red]? It felt like a useless achievement.
I had no way to harm the creature and could only watch, powerless.
”Watch out, Sir Kent!”
The creature attacked Milly and me, who were stunned and unable to move. It bit Annabella’s arm and absorbed her, just like Feria and the others. Aurelia tried to save her by slashing at it, but the creature dodged and consumed her too.
It happened in an instant. Only Milly remained by my side. The creature that had swallowed everyone glared at us menacingly.
”Kent… sorry. I might not be able to keep my promise to Lina either…”
”There must be a way…”
I looked around but found no weapon to defeat the creature.
”Kent! Run away!”
Realizing this was the end, Milly pushed me away and tried to escape, then charged at the creature. I tripped and fell, staring blankly as Milly delayed the inevitable.
This is hopeless… I can’t win against this… To end like this… Where did I go wrong?
As I sat there, Milly, exhausted and bitten, was devoured and absorbed into the creature.
”Kent! Sorry… Please, run away too, I beg you, just run!”
As Milly, tearfully urging me to escape, was fully absorbed, the creature pressed down on my body.
’Kent, sorry to keep you waiting. If you come this way, everyone’s here, so it’s safe.’
The creature used Iska’s voice to speak directly into my mind. I was furious and wanted to punch it, but my body was pinned and couldn’t move.
Then, its fangs sank into my neck, and I lost consciousness, feeling nothing. Thus, we who remained fought bravely but were utterly defeated.
