Volume 1 Chapter 19 Let’s Go Shopping!

After leaving the castle, we came to ‘Shopping Street’ in the west to do some shopping. In ‘Shopping Street,’ there are many shops selling food, miscellaneous goods, weapons, armor, and blacksmiths. For now, since Milly said she wanted to buy some clothes for me, we stopped by a clothing store.
The elderly shopkeeper, who seemed familiar with the place, came out to greet us.
”This is Lady Miriallia. What brings you here today?”
”I’m here to pick out some clothes for this guy.”
Milly introduced me to the shopkeeper. While I was greeting the shopkeeper, Milly started browsing.
”I think this one would look good on Kent.”
What Milly recommended to me was a white, collared school uniform. However, it was made of a shiny thread that looked like silk, not synthetic material. It seemed expensive. I realized it was something I couldn’t wear as everyday clothes.
”N-no, that’s a bit much.”
”Eh, then how about this one?”
The next outfit she showed me was a tailcoat. This also wouldn’t work for everyday wear, no way.
”Maybe this one is good; it’s something I can wear casually, and it’s not too expensive.”
What I picked up was a blue tunic with a belt made of linen. This would be easy to change into, comfortable to move in, and it wouldn’t matter if it got dirty. Plus, it looked cheap, so I decided to buy two of them as a spare.
”Eh, are you sure about such cheap stuff?”
Milly seemed dissatisfied but handed over my choice to the shopkeeper. However, I noticed that Milly was also paying for the white school uniform she initially picked out.
”That will be one large silver coin and 4 copper coins.”
”I left my money at home today, so please put it on the Blackdagger family’s tab.”
”Of course. We appreciate Lady Miriallia’s patronage. Would you like us to deliver the items?”
”Yeah, I don’t want to carry them around, so please do.”
The shopkeeper bowed deeply and disappeared into the back with the clothes. I wondered if he went to call for a delivery person. Milly’s shopping really showed off her celebrity status.
I don’t understand the currency or the value of things here, so it’s hard to judge what’s cheap or expensive. But it would be crazy to have the same sense of money as Milly. I think I’ll stick to being an average person.
”Milly, should we check out some household goods next?”
”Yeah, I need a slate for practicing writing and some chalk, plus a textbook.”
We headed to a general store. The store was filled with all sorts of items, like pots, shovels, and a diverse selection of dishes. Milly picked up a slate for writing practice. It was about the size of a booklet, like the blackboards we used in school.
The “chalk” she mentioned was actual chalk. Although paper is common, it’s expensive, so it’s used for books and official documents. That’s why slates and chalk are typical for writing practice. Next, Milly chose some books for writing practice.
”I think we have most of what we need now…”
”I don’t really want anything right now either.”
”And I don’t need any weapons or armor for Kent at the moment either~.”
”Oh! That’s right! I forgot something important. Kent, come with me for a second.”
Milly suddenly remembered something and pulled my arm, leading me out of the general store. We ended up at a women’s lingerie shop. There were colorful women’s underwear on display, making it a pretty awkward place for a guy.
”What about this one?”
Milly, what kind of sexy lingerie are you looking at? There’s hardly any fabric, and it doesn’t even cover the important parts! Are you hiding the wrong things?
”Um… I’d prefer not to comment on that.”
Milly stared at my face. If she wore that, I would completely lose my confidence in controlling my ‘beast’ side.
”Hehe, I think I’ll go with this one. I hope they have my size.”
Milly went to check the size with the staff. Nooo!! This is seriously impossible!!
”Kent, they have my size!”
Milly reported back with a bright smile.
”Oh, um… that’s great.”
Wait, that’s not right! I can’t just go along with this!!
”Next is Ms. Annabella. I wonder which one would be good… maybe this topless bra, and how about this G-string?”

After finishing the checkout, I saw Milly happily walking ahead with her purchases. Since it was getting close to lunchtime, we decided to wrap up our shopping and head home.
