After the physical examination of the horse-like creatures, everyone changed into robes or leather armor, and the combat examination began in the courtyard under the supervision of Examiner Milly.
I was alone in the room, peering out the window of the physical examination room, looking out into the courtyard.
The close combat jobs were handled by Milly and Aurelia, the long-range magic jobs by Lina, the long-range physical jobs by Feria, and the healing and support jobs by Lana.
The combat examination was not a tournament but rather an assessment of the candidates’ fundamental skills and abilities.
I searched for Manon among the 6 candidates who caught my attention during the physical examination.
I had heard that she was a hunter who used a bow, so I looked for her among the long-range physical jobs.
She seemed to be shooting arrows at a target located at a distance. It was Manon’s turn, so I decided to watch.
The test was to shoot at a 50 cm square board located 50 meters away and record the number of hits out of 5 shots.
Manon took out her favorite short bow and assumed a shooting stance. The released arrow traced a gentle parabolic curve and pierced the center of the board with precision.
After a few more shots, the target board was completely destroyed. I couldn’t help but clap at how skilled she was. I watched a few others, but none of them seemed to be on the same level as her.
Next, I spotted Aida, who was a magician focusing on long-range combat.
Milly had told me that in Grimoire, guns are treated like magical weapons. Instead of regular gunpowder, they use magical bullets, with each one having different effects—like elemental magic or even armor-piercing rounds made from tough materials.
Most gunslingers buy pre-enchanted ammo, but Aida was different. Since she had a Magician class as well, she could recharge her own bullets with magic, which was pretty handy.
She was the only gunslinger in the test, just like Manon, and she was using her own custom gun.
From about fifty meters away, her shots were so accurate that she could hit the target even with her eyes closed.
Of course, running out of ammo was always a risk, but with all the different types of projectiles she could use, she’d be a valuable member of any team.
I shifted my attention to the close-range fighters next, and that’s when I saw Ines sparring with Milly, swinging her sword.
Lina had told me that Garuda have a special job called ‘Beast Fighter.’ This lets them temporarily transform into a more powerful version of their ancestors, which boosts their abilities in battle. Ines, being part Minotaur, got a huge strength boost when she transformed.
Right now, her Warrior abilities were pretty solid, but it was her fighting style that was really impressive.
I have to admit, watching her fight was kind of mesmerizing. She had this smooth, powerful way of moving, and it was hard to look away.
I couldn’t help but imagine how cool she would look in a battle outfit, like bikini armor or something form-fitting like the Maid uniforms Feria wore.
I watched her test with those thoughts in mind, and then I noticed Giuliana, swinging a greatsword and going up against Aurelia.
However, it didn’t seem like Giuliana was hitting with all her might yet.
As a Heavy Warrior and with her sub-jobs as a Warrior and Swordsman, she has bonuses to her strength and stamina, and since she’s an ogre, a race that is said to have high growth in strength, her full-power attacks are probably devastating enough to cut through anything.
Probably, among the current participants, she is the second strongest after Milly, and can be considered a powerful force.
Next, after Innes, the one sparring with Milly was Beatrice.
Her main job, ‘Guard Scout’, is an advanced job of the Scout class, specializing in scouting and vigilance, and is skilled in detecting danger beforehand. She can use both spears and bows, making her proficient in both close and long-range combat.
The same Dream Demon Milly also has the Scout job, but since she doesn’t have the advanced ‘Guard Scout’ job, Beatrice might have higher scouting and vigilance abilities.
Beatrice mainly uses a spear, but her skill in wielding a spear that far exceeds her height in length creates a somewhat eerie atmosphere.
However, she skillfully performs various attacks with the spear, thrusting and stabbing at Milly. Her skill with the bow also meets the passing standard.
Lastly, I decided to watch Talia.

After watching them, I walked towards the back room behind the reception room for the final interview.
After finishing the combat test for the third interview, Annabella, Feria, and Aurelia entered the room.
”Sir Kent, the third interview’s combat test is now over. Six people remain for the final interview. Here are the resumes of the 6 people.”
Annabella handed over a piece of paper. The names of the 6 people Kent was interested in were written on the paper.
And on the paper, height, weight, 3 sizes, acquired jobs, and skill abilities were listed.
Surprisingly, although it was written in Western characters, in Grimoire, the unit of length was written in centimeters, the unit of weight was written in kilograms, and the 3 size notation was in BWH.
”Annabella, are these length and weight units written in Grimoire units?”

”That’s exactly what I thought. Lady Miriallia and I discussed it, and we’ve decided that within the Hunting Group, we’ll use centimeters for length and kilograms for weight. We might ask for your advice as well, Sir Kent.”
I was relieved that they would use familiar units for the Hunting Group.
Honestly, it would be easier if I just learned the Grimoire units, but at my age—being 35—I’d probably get too confused trying to adjust.
I then turned to the resume that had been kindly converted into the familiar centimeter and kilogram format by Lina, feeling thankful for her effort.
