Knock knock knock.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, my room door was pounded on.
By my side, Milly and my mother-in-law were already fast asleep, breathing softly.
”Your Excellency Kent, it’s an emergency! Wake up, please! We’ve discovered a crack of time and space in the southwest of Abyss Vena!”
”Come in, the door’s open.”
The doorknob rattled, and the door swung open with Ane bursting into the room.
She stumbled and fell face-first onto the floor right in front of me.
”Ouch! Why do you always trip at the worst times?”
”Ane, what’s the matter? Why are you in such a hurry?”
”Your Excellency Kent, my apologies! I have a report! During our Estfort Cavalry’s night reconnaissance training, we found a crack of time and space in the southwest of Abyss Vena!”
As I heard the term ‘crack of time and space’ from Ane, I searched my memory for any information.
I recalled Milly telling me about something similar, a dungeon-like place that was a breeding ground for Another World Monsters.
”So, a crack of time and space is like a nest for Another World Monsters, right?”
”That’s mostly correct, but to be precise, it’s a place where the world of Another World Monsters and our world have connected, and it’s called a ‘rif’ or ‘crack’ of time and space.”
”I see, so it’s a place connected to Another World…”
”Yes, it’s not the same as Your Excellency Kent’s world, is it?”
Ane seemed to think that I was a resident of the world of Another World Monsters since she knew I was a ‘Lost One’ from Another World.
Unfortunately, there is no huge mantle in my world, three meters tall.
So I shook my head at Ane’s question.
”Sorry, but in my world, there were no ‘Another World Monsters.’ I didn’t think it was a peaceful world, but it was one where you wouldn’t get attacked by giant creatures.”
”My apologies. I asked too much.”
”It’s fine. I can’t go back anyway. But isn’t this crack in the fabric of space-time something to worry about? It’s not like it appeared within the city limits.”
Ane seemed to recall the details of her report, and her face turned anxious again.
”I’ve joined my father on several missions to seal space-time cracks, but I’ve never seen one as massive as this! Maybe it’s because of its location near the southern Abyss Gate, but it’s just too huge!”
Ane’s loud shout woke Milly, who had been sleeping next to her.
”Umm… Kent… Is it morning already…?”
”Lady Miriallia! Wake up! A gigantic space-time crack has appeared in the southwest of Abyss Vena!”
Ane was trying to wake Milly, who was still half-asleep.
”Just 5 more minutes… Let me sleep…”
”Lady Miriallia!”
Ane pulled the blanket off the dozing Milly.
Milly seemed to give in and finally woke up.
”Hmm? Ane? What’s the rush?”
”Lady Miriallia! We’ve discovered a massive space-time crack! I’ve just reported it to His Excellency Kent!”
”How big is ‘massive’? Are monsters from the other world pouring out into the surrounding area?”
Milly wanted a precise report from Ane.
”I’m sorry, but based on my estimate, there’s a space-time crack about 20 meters wide and ten meters high. It has already started consuming the creatures in the vicinity. I could confirm about 50 of them, but there might be many more monsters inside the crack.”
”A crack in space-time… about 20 meters wide and ten meters tall… large enough for an another world monster to come through. Could this be the influence of the Gate?”
”Milly, is that crack in the fabric of time and space in that class rare?”
”Yes, a standard-level crack is only about a meter wide, so only small another world monsters can pass through, and larger individuals can’t fit. But the large another world monster we found could pass through, so that’s the problem. Large ones are strong…”
”So, there are another world monsters even more dangerous than the Silver Mantis that almost killed me, huh?”
”But the problem with another world monsters is that they can reproduce and give birth to beast monsters. Beast monsters aren’t that strong in their larval stage, but once they reach adulthood, they become as powerful as the Silver Tiger we encountered before. For our world, they’re nothing but dangerous pests.”
Just as Milly said, if those another world monsters start mass-producing beast monsters, it’s certain that this world will be in ruins before we know it.
”So, we need to close the crack in space-time, or that previous disaster will repeat itself… By the way, how do we close the crack in space-time?”
”To close it, we need to infiltrate the crack and destroy the core device inside. But for a crack of this size, the interior might be divided into multiple layers… We might need to mobilize the army, or it could get bad.”
Cracks in space-time are like battle dungeons…but if left untreated, you’ll definitely get a flag for the end of the destruction…
”We have no choice but to go on an extermination mission. If we leave it alone, both Abyss Vena and Estfort will fall into ruin. Alright! Ane, call for an emergency assembly right now. Milly, gather the main members.”
”Understood. Your Excellency Kent! Wow!”
Ane gracefully made her way out, almost tripping again, but this time, she managed to steady herself.
Then, she rushed out.
Milly got out of bed, straightened her clothes, and left the room to gather everyone.
I decided to wake up my mother-in-law, who was sleeping soundly beside me.
”Mother-in-law! Wake up, please! It’s an emergency!”
”…Uh, no…Mr. Kent. I can’t do this anymore…I’ll break…Please ask Milly…”
I decided to wake my mother-in-law up by shaking her.
”Mother-in-law! Please wake up!”
”Ugh…Mr. Kent, again? No more, you’re such a troublemaker…”
My mother-in-law seemed to misunderstand something and started reaching for my crotch.
”No, it’s not like that! Ane’s team found a huge crack in space-time! I’ll mobilize the troops, and I’d like to request your support in the rear, mother-in-law.”
”What! They found a huge crack in space-time? That’s serious! I’ll gather my subordinates immediately!”
My mother-in-law, grasping the situation, jumped out of bed and rushed out of the room.
After seeing her off, I changed my clothes and headed to the living room.

A while later, the main members gathered in the living room of the mansion.
The time was already late at night, but they immediately started the countermeasure meeting for the crack in space-time.
”I called everyone at this late hour because an emergency has occurred. You might have heard, but Ane’s cavalry unit discovered a crack in space-time during night reconnaissance training. It’s located 15 kilometers southwest of Abyss Vena, with a width of 20 meters and a height of ten meters.”
My statement caused a stir among those present.
”And we have also received reports that another world monster has already emerged and has begun predatory activity from cracks in space-time.”
”My Lord, the situation seems to be urgent. Please issue the order for the vanguard troops to advance!”
Akebus stepped forward with a worried expression.
He had been fighting against the space cracks under the previous Margrave, and his concern was that the situation would worsen as time passed.
The battle against the space cracks was deemed a sure victory if they took the initiative.
However, even with the additional troops from Estfort, there were only about 3 hundred men, and it was uncertain if even a hundred of them could respond immediately.
To avoid wasting troops, it was decided to send a small reconnaissance team instead of Ane and her companions, in case the situation escalated.
”Akebus, by tomorrow morning, we’ll have 3 hundred men ready. Wait a while. Also, inform the Margrave, and we plan to deploy the Abyss Vena Hunting Group. They are more skilled in exploring the space cracks. Once the perimeter is secured, we and they will charge in. The army’s task is to secure the perimeter and defeat the monsters that appear outside.”
”Yes, I understand.”
I beckoned to Kondrad, the acting great commander of the Estfort army.

Kondrad and Akebus left the room with high spirits, preparing for the battle.

”I’ll leave Fristoph and Giuliana in charge of maintaining peace while Estfort is away. Make sure the residents don’t panic.”
”As you wish.”
Fristoph is a newlywed, so I decided to keep him out of this monster-hunting mission, as I didn’t want him to become a tragic death flag.
Rumor has it that he’s head over heels for his new bride.
His stoic demeanor seems to have found a perfect match in his young wife.
”Fristoph, you’re a newlywed, go and enjoy your honeymoon. Don’t let Godard’s bloodline end!”
”Yes, my lord!”
Fristoph blushed at the mention of his new wife.
As an older man with a young bride, he could afford to be a little cheeky.
”Giuliana, you’ll be on standby this time. We don’t want any unnecessary casualties.”
”I understand. As the ‘Red Valkyrie,’ hunting another world monster will be tough without my help.”
