Volume 4 Chapter 19 Another World Monster

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The Silver Scorpion continues to regenerate its burnt parts, causing new flames to erupt from its body.

The scorched smell permeates the air around it as it becomes immobile.

”It was just big and bulky… it’s not my match…”

Lina’s face was pale as she unleashed a powerful magic in a place with a weak magical element.

She seemed to have exhausted a significant amount of her own magic power as she clenched the magic stone and activated it.

”It’s fine that you charred it, but don’t overdo it. I’ll replenish your magic power with a Mana Transfer.”

Hearing this, Lina closed her eyes and requested a Mana Transfer through a kiss.

Milly also closed her eyes and offered her lips as there was no other way.

Everyone seems more proactive today… Could it be because Annabella is not here?

”Milly, you don’t seem to be that exhausted yet, right? But if you receive the Mana Transfer through a kiss, your reward will decrease, is that okay?”

 ”That’s a problem!”

Milly panicked and moved away from me.

At that moment, we heard gunshots coming from behind us.

Kerstin’s ‘Black Bullet’ team, ‘Elitzina,’ was engaging with some enemies.

 Tat-tat-tat!

The sound of Elitzina’s gunfire grew closer.

”Kerstin! What’s going on? Is something happening?”

”Kent! We’re being attacked from the rear by small-sized another world monsters! There are about 50 Silver Bees, and Elitzina is fighting them off right now!”

Kerstin’s party was falling back while taking turns providing supporting fire against the swarm of Silver Bees.

The Silver Bees should be manageable with my ‘Explode Gunlance’ in shooting mode.

”I’ll take them out in one go. Everyone, fall back behind me as I spread the bullets!”

Warning received, my teammates quickly retreated behind me.

I switched the selector of the ‘Explode Gunlance’ to shooting mode and inserted the spear into a recess in the shield.

The gun handle, trigger, and leg parts emerged from the shield and combined with the spear.

Then, we set up the belt-fed ammunition device.

”Ammo loaded! Kerstin, you can pull it towards them!”

”Roger that! Retreat! Everyone, rush to Kent’s back at full speed!”

As Kerstin gave the order, 7 people in black leather armor rushed in.

Kerstin, at the very back, was knocking down the Silver Bees.

”Kerstin! I’ll cover you, go ahead and dive in!”

Kerstin glanced at me, nodded, and then turned her back to the Silver Bees and started running.

I activated my [Concentration] and [Hawk’s Eye] Skills, and suddenly, the movements around me slowed down.

Then, I pulled the trigger towards the Silver Bees.

 Buzz!

 Bang, bang, bang!

The tip of the ‘Explode Gunlance’ spear started spinning, and bullets shot out from the 4 holes, hitting the Silver Bees, which burst like shattered water balloons, spraying blue liquid.

The bullets fired one after another by the belt-fed ammunition device hit and exploded the swarm of Silver Bees chasing Kerstin and the others, dying and staining the floor blue.

 Buzz!

 Bang, bang, bang!

 Bang, bang, bang!

”Hahaha! The Silver Bees are like water balloons, bursting and splattering their dirty blue liquid everywhere as they die!”

 ──Acquired [Gunner] job.

 ──Skill point obtained: 1 point.

 ──Job bonus: Increased strength.

 ──[Barrage Shooting] Skill unlocked.

 ──[Suppressive Fire] Skill unlocked.

Oh, it seems a new job has been acquired.

Apparently, it was a job unlocked by the ‘Explode Gunlance’ shooting.

It might be a top job for [Gunsmith].

I was busy checking the log while taking down the swarming Silver Bees.

I was confident that Kerstin and the others were handling the remaining enemies, allowing me to focus on the log analysis.

 [Barrage Fire]:

 - When activated, reduces enemy group movement speed by 50%

 - Skill Point cost: 10

 [Suppression Fire]:

 - Increases gun attack power against enemy groups by 50% when activated

 - Skill Point cost: 15

It seems like my Battle Skills have been unlocked.

Both skills seem useful against enemy groups, enhancing my gun’s power.

[Barrage Fire] reduces movement speed, so it’s effective against fast-approaching enemies. [Suppression Fire], on the other hand, is ideal for when I want to engage an entire group.

As I plan to use ‘Explode Gunlance’ as my main weapon, I decided it would be wise to acquire these skills.

However, since we’re still in combat, I’ll consider obtaining them after completing the ‘crack of time and space’ exploration.

Soon, the 50 or so Silver Bees were completely annihilated, leaving no trace behind.

The torch’s light seemed brighter than before, likely due to the released magic element in the air causing instability.

”That’s taken care of. But was that a trap? I wonder.”

I asked Milly, who was watching the Silver Bees being slaughtered by my gunfire.

”Hmm… It’s a different pattern for Standard-level… I’ve seen traps where a large enemy appears from behind after luring with a small one, but I’ve never seen a trap that uses a large enemy as bait…”

”When Kent was keeping watch at the rear, Silver Bees suddenly emerged from the corridor walls.”

Based on Kerstin’s testimony, it became clear that the Silver Bees were part of a trap.

Kerstin’s testimony reveals that the silver bee was a trap.

”It’s like a trap after all. The key to the activation might be that it was intended to activate the Silver Scorpion when it takes some damage and pinch it with the Silver Bee. hey”

While we were fighting the large one with regenerative abilities, they might have intended to bring chaos by having the smaller ones swarm us from behind.

Imagining that scenario sent a chill down my spine.

”If that had happened, there might have been injuries or even casualties. It would’ve been an effective trap if it weren’t for us. But as for the Silver Scorpion’s materials, they’re probably…”

Aurelia said, kicking aside the charred remains of the Silver Scorpion.

”Damn it! I got carried away and kept shooting at the ‘another world monster’ without changing the materials…!”

”Kent, I plucked off its pincers, and Aurelia sliced away the poison stinger. We’ve managed to retrieve them.”

Dee showed us the pincers and poison stinger of the Silver Scorpion he had plucked off with his brute strength.

I felt relieved that we had secured the materials from the large Silver Scorpion.

Using up all that ammunition with no results would’ve earned me a lecture from my mother-in-law and Nannie.

Additionally, we managed to secure a dozen or so undamaged wings from the Silver Bee, allowing us to avoid a financial loss.

As we continued our exploration, we came across Hendric’s party, the hunting group leaders of the ‘Golden Apostles’, fighting a large ‘another world monster’, the Silver Anaconda.

Their party members all wore matching golden armor on parts of their bodies, reflecting the torchlight and shining even in the dimness.

Hendric noticed us and issued a warning.

”Oh, Kent. As I said before, if you step into my hunting ground, my sword will point in that direction.”

Hendric dodged the Silver Anaconda’s attacks while giving us a stern warning with his gaze.

His gaze sent a shiver down my spine.

I could sense the killing intent from Hendric.

”I won’t get in your way, Mr. Hendric. I just want to study your battle techniques, senior.”

”Hmph. Do as you please. Consider this a one-time favor, and watch the best party in action, Abyss Vena.”

Hendric signaled his 2 Magician companions, and they began casting Support Magic one after the other.

Vibrant lights of various colors enveloped Hendric, indicating the magic’s effects.

His golden armor reflected the lights, making it shine even brighter.

I thought to myself that this would be useful to brighten up dark places at night, but I didn’t say it out loud.

However, I forgot that there was a member of the group who wouldn’t let this slide.

”Mr. Hendric is like a walking torch, glowing so bright. Mr. Kent, you must think so too, right?”

Feria almost said something she shouldn’t have.

Hey! Feria, hold your tongue! Those are words to keep to yourself!

Feria’s words reached Hendric, and he felt her piercing gaze.

I didn’t say anything! I just thought it!

I decided to escape his gaze by covering Hendric’s mouth.

”It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

Hendric sprinted towards the silver anaconda, which had been guarded by the vanguard.

With the magic’s boost, Hendric approached the silver anaconda at a speed that was hard to follow with the naked eye.

As the support magician moved aside, Hendric leaped forward, raising his sword.

The silver anaconda appeared before Hendric and opened its massive mouth, attempting to swallow him whole.

I thought it was impossible to change direction in mid-air…

But to my surprise, Hendric’s body shifted sideways in the air.

 That’s impossible!

There’s no way you can move sideways in mid-air!

However, upon closer inspection, I noticed an ice pillar protruding from the ground.

It seemed the magician had anticipated Hendric’s move and created the pillar.

”Amazing! Isn’t it perfect for collaboration?”

Hendric, who changed his posture in the air, swung his sword down towards the head of the Silver Anaconda, who had failed to swallow it all.

The Silver Anaconda, which is supposed to have hard skin and scales, was easily cut off.

──One sword… the tip of the sword is too fast to see… It seems to have as fast and power as Milly’s serious mode…S-Class Hunter is not just formal?

Hendrics and others easily defeated the Silver Anaconda and began dismantling the Materials.

 ”Mr. Hendric…I learned a lot”

”Next time we’ll be getting a pretty high tuition fee. We’re not playing hunters for fun. Looking at your Hunting Group, I get replies. Yoy’re playing hunters for fun. If you’re doing this, do it outside my field of vision”

Hendric glares at me with blood shaking the sword that was covered with the silver snake (Silver Anaconda) body fluids.

Hendric’s friends also seemed to agree with Hendric.

They may be annoyed by the lack of preparedness as hunters as we have plenty of funds and equipment.

 ”I’ll keep that in mind”

 After that, we left.
