Volume 4 Chapter 31 Brave General Garvey

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Kent! It looks like a group of monsters is fighting ahead!”

Beatrice reported from the driver’s seat.

We had set off from Godard early in the morning, so it was now around noon.

While running, I had asked Beatrice to find a resting spot, but her report was about enemy sighting.

”Oh no, I thought we wouldn’t see any monsters until now… If they’re fighting, does that mean hunters are out on a hunt?”

I asked Beatrice for more details as she sat in the driver’s seat.

”They’re not hunters. They’re flying the kingdom’s military uniform and banner.”

”The military banner… Is it the flag of the South Garrison Army?”

”Yes-nya. The design of the castle wall and swords is that of the South Garrison Army-nya.”

Manon, who was also driving with Beatrice, answered.

”Got it. I’ll provide support. Beatrice, please report the number and composition of the enemy group. Milly and the others, get ready. Contact Ane as well.”

”Understood. I’ll prepare. Feria! Please inform Ane in the back.”

 ”Right away!”

As Feria opened the back window to inform Ane of the enemy sighting, the inside of the carriage became lively.

Everyone kept their equipment on just in case, but each began checking their weapons.

”Kent. The enemy group consists of about 2 hundred, with 50 Horn Horses, 50 Phantom Butterflies, and about a hundred Blue Bears.”

Beatrice reported on the numbers of the enemy group she had visually confirmed.

It was a group of 2 hundred intermediate-level monsters, mixed with high-health monsters, flying monsters, and highly mobile monsters, which would make the extermination quite a challenge.

”What about those flying the military banner?”

”About 50 of them are forming a phalanx and gradually retreating!”

A disadvantage… With the enemy’s numbers exceeding their by 4 times, they’ll be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

I think the army we’re fighting now is dispatched from Felward Fortress.

If we launch a pincer attack from behind with Ane and the others, I think we can turn the tables on our disadvantage.

”Alright, we’ll storm in from behind the enemy group. Milly, are you ready?”

”I’m good to go. I’ve been slacking off my hunting lately. Let’s get back in shape.”

”Same here, I’ve been slacking off too.”

The wagon picked up speed, approaching the rear of the battling monster group.

Ane’s cavalry was also chasing from behind.

Eventually, we reached the rear group, jumped out of the wagon, and engaged in combat with the Horn Horse group, who were waiting for a charge opportunity.

Ane’s cavalry also began close combat while suppressing fire against the Phantom Butterfly.

The heavy cavalry used Sudden Rush to plow through the Blue Bears attacking the southern stationed soldiers.

”Alright, it’s been a while since our last hunt. Everyone, feel free to hunt to your heart’s content!”

The members of Crimson Bride were also fired up for their long-awaited hunt.

”I’m absolutely loaded with stress… It’s bad for the monsters, but they’ll have to become Dee’s sacrifices… Hehehe.”

The one who was the happiest about me going on this hunting trip was Dee.

After moving to our new home and being freed from bathtub duty, she was troubled as she was now being worked hard with cooking and laundry as a Maid.

Dee, believed to be the daughter of a western Noble, surprisingly handled everything quite well for a Noble lady.

That Dee was licking her lips in front of 2 hundred monsters.

”Dee… make sure to leave some for everyone.”

 ”I’m feeling quite greedy today…”

The black outfit Dee had commissioned from Golerg for this day, called [Cicada Shell Armor], was made from such thin fabric that her underwear could be seen, increasing the wearer’s speed but greatly reducing magic resistance, as Golerg had stated.

I felt I couldn’t let anything happen to Dee, so I told her to stop wearing that Equipment.

However, Dee was adamant about wanting to wear this, so I reluctantly decided to give in and accept it.

Wearing the [Cicada Shell Armor], Dee gained even more speed, becoming almost invisible.

Before my eyes, Horn Horse seemed to be smashed away as if struck by an unseen giant.

 ”…Dee… it’s amazing, but… please no more splatter scenes…”

Another Horn Horse was having its neck snapped, releasing a black mist from the broken part.

”No one can stop me today!”

 ”Dee-Dee! That’s unfair! I’m going to Feria!”

”Ah, wait for me! Let me hunt too!”

Feria and Ines charged into the group of Horn Horses, wielding their weapons.

With their main job as [Maid Warrior], the two had acquired [Maid Combat Techniques] that allowed them to add my attack power to their own, significantly increasing their attack strength compared to before.

”Ines! I’ll take off its head, so you cut its legs!”

”Got it! I’m going in with [Great Whirlwind Slash]!”

As Ines began to swing the Great Axe of Annihilation, 2 meters long, with her immense strength, the legs of 3 Horn Horses within the radius were severed, causing the legless Horn Horses to collapse to the ground.

Then, as Feria’s Swift Wind Axe grazed the neck of the writhing Horn Horse on the ground, a strong blast of black mist erupted, halting its life activities.

 ”That’s one down!”

”I won’t let only Ines and Feria shine! Kent, watch me! I’ll show you the results of my secret practice with Master Carly!”

Inspired by the Maid trio’s success, it was Lina who felt a sense of rivalry.

She had also been training in magic, studying under Carlamia, an A-Class Magician and S-Class Hunter.

It seemed she was about to show the fruits of her labor now.

The Fire Arrow created without a chant are increasing, 2, 3, and more.

I can also perform multiple casts of the same magic like Lina, but controlling the magic is difficult, making it hard to hit the enemy.

I thought 3 was my limit, but Lina was summoning nearly 20 Fire Arrow.

”Hey, Lina, are you okay? Friendly fire in the chaos is no joke!”

”Shut up! You’re distracting me! Just watch in silence!”

Lina releases a barrage of Fire Arrow towards the group of Phantom Butterflies that are dodging in the air.

 Swish, swish, swish!

The barrage of Fire Arrow shot by Lina approaches the group of Phantom Butterflies at high speed.

The Phantom Butterflies, sensing the attack, attempted to evade, but the released Fire Arrow tracked them down, igniting and bringing down the Phantom Butterflies one after another.

”Heh, that’s about it. There’s no way you can escape from my magic now that I’ve acquired the [Magic Guidance] skill.”

It seems Lina had acquired the [Magic Guidance] skill during her training with Carly.

This skill allowed her to maintain a hit rate that should have decreased with multiple magics, enabling her to cast magic with perfect accuracy.

The 20 Fire Arrow shot by Lina burned down about 15 Phantom Butterflies, which are weak to fire.

The few that survived were hit by a second arrow, resulting in a discrepancy of about 5.

Lina’s Fire Arrow, which excel in fire attribute attacks, boast the power of an S-class Magician, so most of the fire-weak Phantom Butterflies were instantly killed.

”That’s some incredible power. Are you okay with the mana consumption?”

”I’m fine with this level. It’s just Fire Arrow, after all. I can also shoot about 5 fireballs with multiple magic; what do you want to do?”

Lina asked with a fierce face.

I decided to hold back since firing 5 fireballs would likely result in catastrophic friendly fire around us.

”Well, I guess we don’t need fireballs after all.”

”Oh, really? What a pity. Then I’ll try the new skill I learned, [Flame Lance]. You just stay back and watch.”

Lina said that and moved to change her position to support the frontline fighters.

I don’t know if my wives are frustrated or just stressed, but today they are tearing apart monsters like hungry wolves.

Among them, Aurelia looked the happiest as she hunted the monsters.

She was gleaming her sword, seizing the chance to infuse magical elements into it, darting through the horde of monsters.

”Lord Kent… I must make sure the Sword of Lion King and the Diamond King absorb a lot of magical elements… Oh ho ho…”

 Eek!

 Aurelia has changed in character…

Aurelia skillfully used her 4 arms, specializing in a 2-sword strike that decapitated monsters immobilized by her Bindmagic.

The fate of monsters caught in Aurelia’s Bindmagic was only death.

”Everyone, are you perhaps frustrated? Or are you just enjoying the long-awaited hunt? I cannot comprehend…”

Talia stood next to me, critiquing the members engaged in battle.

Since I had no intention of joining this fight, I decided to play around with Talia’s tail for fun and comfort.

”Everyone is doing so well, so it’s pretty boring…”

 ”Ah, Sir Kent… in a place like this… my tail… ahh…”

”Well, I’m bored, and you’re bored too, right?”

 ”Y-yes, but… everyone is here, so… ahh…”

 Bang! Whoosh!

A bullet flew past my ear.

The shooter was Manon, but she wasn’t aiming at me; she had shot down a Phantom Butterfly that had strayed from the herd and was about to attack us.

 Surely, that’s right…?

You’re not getting jealous, Sniper, just because I was flirting with Talia, right?

”Sir Kent. What’s the matter? Has my tail become dull?”

I noticed Talia stopped teasing and looked worriedly at me.

”No, it’s not that I’m bored, but… Is it just my imagination that I feel killing intent from Manon?”

”No way! Talia’s tail is the best!”

”Ugh… If you do it that intensely…”

I began to tease Talia’s tail once more.

 Bang! Whoosh!

 It grazed me.

 It grazed me!

 In my hair!

The next shot was from Beatrice.

Her shot blew the head off the Horn Horse, which was about to charge at me.

Both of them are definitely aiming to graze me…

I’m being shown the sniping skills of Manon and Beatrice, but the bullets whizzing by are not good for my heart.

I decided to signal both of them over with hand signs.
