After the dinner, I decided to invite Kondrad to my home for another meal.
”I’m glad to have met you, Kondrad. Please convey my apologies to General Gertroud for any disrespect today. Also, if you have time, I’d love for you to visit my home. I think Aurelia would be happy to see you.”
”Lord Blackdagger, refusing your invitation wouldn’t be right… Besides, it’s thanks to Lord Kent that I was able to see the long-lost Lady Aurelia… Would it be alright if I visited tomorrow?”
It seems Kondrad appreciates that I saved Aurelia.
I have a feeling we might get along well.
”Come in, come in. Although I’m a Baron, I’m just a commoner who rose to fame, so please feel free to come. I’d like to tell my subordinates about Kondrad, so why don’t you bring your daughter along too?”
”Ane will be happy. I’ll come and see you tomorrow.”
Kondrad bowed to me and left the room.
”Kent, what do you think of Kondrad? I don’t feel him out of place in a General class. Besides, General Geltraut is just like my brother’s lackey. He smells like a bureaucrat from the royal capital. I think Kondrad brought out his military prowess.”
My father-in-law praised Kondrad without reservation.
It seems he shares my view on General Gertroud.
As the Margrave who oversees the site, he likely dislikes the intellectual air and bureaucratic behavior.
”I definitely want to recruit Kondrad. I’ll see if I can scout him for about 20 gold coins, but that type isn’t swayed by money.”

”If we ask him for help in reviving the Klaushten family, he might surprisingly go along with it. We could make Aurelia and Kent’s child the heir to Klaushten. I can grant the title of Kingdom Knight. Plus, with permission to annex land in the southern region, if Kent defeats monsters and expands the territory, he could be made a Lord. I won’t do it because it costs money.”
My father-in-law is encouraging me to resurrect the destroyed Klaushten family in the south.
Moreover, he even mentioned that developing the southern region would automatically grant lands.
”As always, stepfather is picking fights with His Majesty. At this rate, we’ll end up with an assassin sent after us.”
”There’s no way that the weaklings in the royal capital would want to take on a hard-working post like Margrave. I’m sure General Gertroud was told that he’d be promoted once he completed his term, or something like that when he came to his post.”
”Kent, what are you going to do? Rebuild the House of Aurelia? Maybe Kondrad could be the steward.”
Milly also seems to be keen on father-in-law’s proposal.
Maybe they’re thinking of making House Klaushten a branch of House Blackdagger.
”Wait! You’re suddenly talking about reviving the family! Besides, the Klaushten family name has been declared extinct by His Majesty.”
As Aurelia said, reviving the Klaushten family will be difficult…
I really don’t want to attract the Demon Lord’s attention.
”Shall we change to a different family name? If Aurelia agrees, I can make the card switch.”
A different family name… Is that even possible!?
”Father-in-law, can we really use a different family name?”
”I have the authority to knight others. Changing the name on the card is a simple task.”
”Then, Aurelia should receive the knighthood under the new family name.”
Hearing about the knighthood, Aurelia looked flustered.
”Why are we talking about this? I’m just a humble guard. The other concubines will be jealous, so please don’t!”
”Does Aurelia not want to abandon the Klaushten family name?”
”I don’t mind that. However, if someone like me, with no accomplishments, receives a title, it will tarnish Sir Kent’s reputation.”

I am recognized as my father-in-law’s son-in-law, strong in battle but seen as a fool who loves women, so I think it’s best this way for Aurelia’s knighthood to be an answer to my request.
”That’s right. I’ll be seen as a foolish father who is kind to his daughter and son-in-law. Okay, I’ll invest Aurelia. As for the family name… Kent can decide.”
Aurelia’s opinion is not being listened to.
Furthermore, I was flustered.
”Lord Kent. I don’t want a title…”
”No, this is an order from your husband. I’m going to give Aurelia a new family name in order to get Kondrad. I’ll explain the reason to everyone.”
Aurelia, seemingly resigned, agreed to accept the title.
”As for the family name, it’s taken from the sword I gave you the other day. How about Vermillionblade? If you didn’t have a territory, the name would disappear in a generation…”
”The name is taken from the Sword of Lion King. Vermillionblade… Aurelia Vermillionblade… Lord Kent, it’s truly worthy of receiving this title.”
”Yes. Please”
”Understood. From now on, Aurelia Klaushten will disappear and serve Lord Kent as Aurelia Vermillionblade.”
”Alright, I’ll rewrite the card for you later. The appointment will take place tomorrow when Kondrad arrives; Kent will handle it.”
”Understood.”
With this, we’re ready to integrate Kondrad.
”Now we can indeed integrate Kondrad.”
”Ah, to make it even more certain, wouldn’t it be good to make Ane a concubine? Kondrad was fond of children, so with his only daughter and a lady from the main family serving him, I believe integration is guaranteed.”
Make Kondrad’s daughter a concubine… Of course, if I like her, I’d want to make her one right away.
I remember he mentioned she was a military one.
”I’ll keep that in mind. Right, Milly?”
”Sounds good. Acquiring female officers is also urgent. Anyway, we’ll recruit anyone useful.”

My father-in-law seems to be planning to use his abundant funds to recruit useful personnel from the royal army that has come to the western garrison.
My father-in-law also gave Fristoph to me, so it seems that we need to strengthen our manpower.
”General Gertroud is an unwanted. I’m going for a female officer. If you have a female officer in your staff, especially a daughter of a civil servant, please give her to me, father-in-law. I’ll pay you a generous transfer fee.”

Milly and Aurelia looked at us with exasperated expressions.
After that, we decided to have my father-in-law rewrite Aurelia’s card before heading back to the mansion.
