Volume 6 Chapter 10 The Ogre’s Resolution

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Giuliana, as an ogre, is a fairly thoughtful woman, but she has a very strict side when it comes to her own kind, which she showed to me for the first time.

”Got it. Just be careful not to kill them.”

 ”Understood. I won’t kill.”

I’ll ignore the brief moment when Giuliana’s face turned into a fierce beast-like visage.

”Speaking of Giuliana’s Western Language Education, who’s going to teach the ogres?”

Milly was somehow getting into high spirits.

”This is Miss Milly’s time to shine. When it comes to teachers, there’s no one but Milly in my mind.”

”Huh? Me? Should I have brought that cosplay?”

Milly, suddenly given the role of a teacher, was wondering if she should wear the teacher cosplay.

As for me, I’m feeling like I want to meet Miss Milly again after a long time.

”‘Ring of Intelligence’ will be delivered, and I’ll have the teacher cosplay outfit included as well. You’ll do it, won’t you?”

”Huh? Well, if Kent wants, then sure, but… ah, no, that’s not what I meant.”

I managed to get Milly’s consent unexpectedly, so I’ll go ahead and obtain Commander Garvey’s permission as well.

”Garvey. Can I go ahead with this?”

”Sure, sure. I’ll cover your back, so do as you like. Just know, if I think it’s dangerous, I’ll call it off using commander authority.”

”Ah, that’s fine. I’ll leave that judgment to you, Garvey.”

Garvey gave a bitter smile but agreed to my plan.

After that, we left the hall and, as a preliminary step to the operation, we captured two or three ogres who had lost their senses and were attacking the walls, and threw them into the [Anti-Magic Barrier] that Lana had made.

The ogres’ behavior changed immediately, so I asked Giuliana and Bruyne to talk to them in Ghost language.

 ”Oh, we can understand them!”

”Lord Kent, it seems that entering this barrier allows them to regain their self. For now, I’ve advised them not to rampage, but if they do, I will take them down.”

 Giuliana reported the results.

 The plan worked.

”Alright, I need to quickly buy the ‘Ring of Intelligence’ from Hector in Abyss Vena. Ludmila, I’m sorry, but please send the fastest messenger to Estfort.”

I give instructions to Ludmila, who is beside me.

”Lord Blackdagger is truly an unusual person. Well, that’s also what makes you great… I’ve received your instructions. I’ll have the goods delivered by tomorrow.”

 ”I’m counting on you.”

Ludmila ran off to carry out my instructions.

”Okay, next is to notify each Hunting Group. Let’s give a silver coin to each person in the Hunting Group that captures an ogre. We won’t pay for the corpses. There are about 7 to 8 hundred ogres, so it should be a good profit.”

”You’re generous, chief… Ogres are hard to turn into monsters, so they won’t yield materials, and if they know they can earn money by capturing them, the Hunting Group won’t kill them indiscriminately.”

Garvey nodded beside me, arms folded.

”Now, I’ll take the ogre out of you too and reduce the reward you pay as much as possible.”

Thus, the ogre capture operation was launched.

Then, a few days passed, and there were many fields of Anti-Magic Barrier appearing within the fortress of Felward.

Only the Ogre species disappeared from the Ghost Clan surrounding the outside of the fort, and the only sieges were Kobold and Goblin species.

This is what happened because each Hunting Group took the initiative to hunt ogres.

The siege forces of Ghost Clan, lacking the ogre, were now closer to the mob, and I had led the Hunting Group and slaughtered over a hundred Ghost Clans.

I have sympathy for Kobold and Goblin species, but thanks to their appearance, I was grateful that I could not feel guilty about defeating them.

And most of them have already become monsters, and it can also be said that they are monsters that they must defeat.

”Even so, everyone is excited. Frustration – maybe…”

The members of ‘Crimson Bride’ jumped into the encirclement, eagerly hunting the Ghost Clan.

They were hunting thoroughly enough to earn the nickname ‘Death’s Scythe’ from some Hunting Groups and soldiers.

”Lord Kent. I’m not frustrated. I appreciate the chance to infuse my beloved sword with magic element. Recently, I hardly had the chance for Monster Hunting thanks to you, Lord.”

Aurelia made a remark like a battle maniac, but after she dashed through, Ghost Clan members were falling in gouts of blood.

Her overwhelming Sword Technique put her in the top ten for personal kills in this battle.

”IneIne. Before Mr. Kent shines, we should gather all the experience points!”

Feria, riding a Dragonewt, dove from the sky and unleashed a breath attack on the group of Ghost Clan.

The goblins hit directly by the breath melted away, leaving no scraps.

”Ms. Feria! That’s unfair! I want to go too!”

Ines was also diving down as a second wave of attack.

A breath attack hit the kobolds in the back of the prior group.

”Wow, that’s brutal. You two don’t want me to fight?”

 ””Ehh~””

It seemed the two didn’t want me to fight.

However, I wanted to become stronger, so I couldn’t just space out in this training ground──the current battlefield.

 ”Kent! Don’t just stand there!”

 Zip…

A fireball zipped past my ear.

Several goblins bounced up where it landed.

Turning toward the sound, I saw Lina standing there.

”Lina… it just brushed by my ear… were you trying to punish me?”

 Hearing “punish,” Lina shivered slightly.

”Y-you fool! Of course not! I helped you because you were being dazed!”

”──Oh? Is that so? To me, it looked like you wanted Kent to punish you.”

Milly stood behind Lina, placing her hand on Lina’s shoulder.

”N-no, Elder Sister! It was just that I thought Kent was in danger, and I reacted instinctively!”

 Lina’s face turned pale.

It seemed that Lina was more afraid of Milly’s scolding than my punishment.

”Heh, fine. I’ll listen to your excuses in detail later.”

”Nooo! That’s not it! Elder Sister!”

Lina flailed her arms and legs in a half-crazed state.

While watching such Lina, I activated the shooting mode of the Explode Gunlance (Explode Gunlance).

Multiple gun barrels shot out from the tip of the lance, firmly anchoring the gun mount to the ground.

I simultaneously activated the combat skills [Concentration], [Hawk’s Eye], and [Barrage Shooting].

Thanks to [Hawk’s Eye], the enemy was enlarged on display, and with [Concentration], the risk of friendly fire was eliminated. The attack that drained the enemy’s mobility with [Barrage Shooting] turned the group of goblins into chunks of meat one after another. The dozen goblins were reduced to pieces in mere seconds.

”Alright, let’s move on to the next.”

Just at that moment, a signal to retreat was launched from Felward Fortress.

”Is that it for today… everyone, let’s pull back!”

* * *

Upon returning to the fortress, Giuliana and Nannie were passionately speaking in front of a makeshift blackboard set up outdoors.

In front of them, ogre men and women, holding a mini blackboard and white chalk, listened intently without a sound, straining their ears to hear the two speak seriously.

”Listen up! You have been graciously pardoned for violating the agreement by Kent, Lady Blackdagger. You have become Lord Kent’s slaves! There is only one thing for a slave to do! You must carry out what Lord Kent says! No matter if it costs your life or anything else, you must accomplish it! If you can’t do it, I’ll take care of you! You are a disgrace to us ogres!”

 Giuliana is furious.

She is likely enraged by her kin’s shamefulness during this attack.

Because of that, she is passionately focused on the re-education of the ogres.

Some have already been half-killed by Giuliana’s iron fist.

Because of this, the Western Language classroom was filled with tension.

On the first day, Milly was teaching gently, but progress was slow, leading to the current tense atmosphere with the arrival of Nannie, who came to assist in the ogre’s reformation along with the ‘Ring of Intelligence’.

”Ms. Giuliana. That’s enough. ──Now, let’s see if you can read this character? Alright, you over there, read it.”

The ogre, pointed at by Nannie, flinched a bit.

”Hey, it’s Miss Nannie’s turn! Get up quickly!”

The man swiftly stood and stared intently at the blackboard.

”Our lord is Sir Kent Blackdagger-dearu.”

 ”-dearu? Is that alright?”

Nannie adjusted her glasses and asked in return.

The air in the classroom grew even more tense.

”You idiot! It’s not ‘-dearu’! It’s ‘de arimasu’! What were you listening to?! I’ll correct you!”

Giuliana grabbed the man’s collar and punched him in the face with her clenched fist.

The ogre who received the punch was sent flying to the ground.

”You all! If you keep dragging this out, I’ll actually kill you! You’re lower than the trash that has smeared our tribe! If you don’t want to die, then memorize the words with the will to die!”

 Scaryyyy!

What kind of Spartan school is this?!

This classroom is filled with a violent atmosphere!

I nervously observe the class as Giuliana’s transformation frightens me.

”Alright, next word. What does this say… You there, young lady, give it a try.”

Nannie once more called on someone to read.

This time, it seems to be a female ogre.

 ”…I am Kent Blackdagger-sama’s maid. This body… is such a burden… I am a burden.”

Once again, Giuliana’s punishment came down.

This time, it was a slap.

”Fool! Your body belongs to Lord Kent! That’s what a slave is! Yield everything when asked! Your lives are all in his hands! You lot lack even Intelligence, and he’s showing you mercy by giving you Education! The only way you can repay such a kindness is with your body! Do you understand?!”

Listening to the lesson content, it feels more like brainwashing than Western Language Education… is it just me?

The ogre, struck with a flat hand, started crying on the floor.

As for me, I don’t intend to make her a sex slave.

Well, on the surface, it’s decided that she’ll be treated as my personal slave, but I don’t plan to chain her up.

”Ah, sorry. I didn’t mean it like that…”

 Giuliana glared at me.

Not the melting eyes she had during work, but eyes filled with anger.

”Lord Kent! This is a matter of race. As promised, I won’t kill her, but I ask that you refrain from interfering.”

Giuliana’s anger was at a considerable level.

As someone who knows that I have consulted with the Ghost Clan on various matters as representative of Estfort’s Ghost Clan, I can understand the extent of Giuliana’s anger.

”Sir Kent, refrain from interference. I have taken responsibility for the education of the ogre. I will make them as well-mannered and rational citizens as Ms. Giuliana.”

Nannie is a woman who shows a strong personality when it comes to education. Even though I’ve heard that she causes quite a stir with her unconventional lessons at Estfort Academy, she is known to be a serious teacher, so I decided to leave it to her.

”Well, yes. Then leave it to them. Both of you, don’t push yourselves too hard.”

I quickly left the outdoor classroom.

 [Ring of Intelligence]

Equipment that temporarily increases Intelligence when worn, amplifying thinking and memory.

 [Anti-Magic Barrier]

The barrier stone serves as the base, rendering magic use impossible within a 20-meter radius. All magical effects are blocked within the barrier, and magical power doesn’t naturally recover.
