Knock knock.
”‥‥‥‥”
The sudden knock echoed through the silent villa. The men inside exchanged tense glances.
This area was nearly deserted outside of ski season—no one should be visiting. The sound at the door was completely out of place, jarring in the stillness.
”Help me!! Ugh… ughh!!”
”Tch! Get her inside!”
Caught off guard, the men scrambled. The manager, Sasahira, had shouted at just the wrong time—and too loudly. Her voice was quickly silenced as she was dragged into the back room, but the damage was done.
Whoever was at the door had definitely heard it.
Thud thud thud thud.
The visitor began pounding harder on the door, sensing that something was very wrong.
”Hey! You—get over here too!”
”…I can’t.”
”What?”
”I… I can’t move.”
Yuna, seated limply on the sofa, couldn’t stand. Her legs had completely given out beneath her.
”Drag her if you have to!”
”No! Stop it!!”
One of the men grabbed her arm, trying to pull her away. Yuna shrieked in fear, her voice sharp and desperate.
Crash!
”W-What was that?!”
A loud shatter rang from the back room where Sasahira had been taken. The sound of glass breaking. Then—
”Who the hell are you!? …Ahh!!”
”You bastard! …Aghh!!”
”Oi! You, go back there too!”
President Hidemaro barked an order to the man who was still grappling with Yuna. But the next voices they heard—
”Stop! Please stop it!! …Aghh!!”
”W-What is happening…?”
All that followed were screams. The cries of their own men.
President Hidemaro’s thoughts couldn’t keep up. His brain stalled as panic crept in.
Then—
”Yuna!!”
”Sasacchi!!”
Manager Sasahira burst from the back room, covered in dust and panic. She dashed to Yuna and held her tightly, shielding her.
”W-What did you do!?”
”It wasn’t Sasahira-san. It was me.”
Another figure stepped out from the back room—Haruto.
Hearing the cries and knocking on the front door but getting no response, Haruto had sprinted around to the back garden. He found a window that looked like it could lead inside and smashed through it without hesitation.
The room he landed in was the same one where Sasahira had been taken.
Two men had been waiting. They attacked immediately—but Haruto was faster.
He disabled them instantly, shattering the bones in their legs so they couldn’t move. Without pause, he tied their hands with the rope he had found in the room.
While securing the last of them, a third man had barged in.
Just like before, Haruto struck quickly—crippling the man’s legs and binding his arms before he could react.
Now, all three were neutralized.
That brought them to the present.
”Who the hell are you!?” Hidemaro shouted, rage flaring. “What happened to my subordinates!?”
”They’re on the floor,” Haruto replied flatly.
”Damn it! Don’t take me lightly!”
Hidemaro unbuttoned his suit with a sharp tug, sliding a hand inside.
Haruto’s instincts screamed.
That motion—it was exactly like what he’d seen in movies and manga over and over again.
He was reaching for a gun.
(Oh no… what do I do…!?)
In that instant, Haruto’s senses shifted. The world slowed. Every second stretched like hours.
It was the phenomenon known as tachypsychia—a state where the brain accelerates its processing under extreme stress. Time didn’t actually slow down, but to Haruto, it might as well have.
He could see it now—clearly.
A gun.
He didn’t know the model. Didn’t know the name. But it was real. Cold, deadly metal.
(…I have to move.)
There was no logic behind it.
No plan.
Just raw instinct—and momentum.
Haruto stepped forward—
With everything he had.
Bang!
Notes:
• Yuna – Female. A famous idol. She has well-defined features and is described as idol-like in appearance. She is a member of a popular idol group known for intense dance and singing performances. She is considering an AV job, which is unusual for a current popular idol. Her relationship with Haruto is that of a customer seeking assistance.
• Hidemaro – Male. The president of the AV. His appearance includes a suit, which he unbuttons to reveal a handgun. He is authoritative and aggressive, ordering his subordinates around and threatening Haruto. His relationship with the others is antagonistic, as he is the primary threat in the situation.
