Haruto passed the entrance exam with no issues
He will start high school this year, and he was busy preparing for things like uniforms.
(I’m meeting Akane’s mother this week, should I buy something to bring?)
Haruto, who happened to be shopping with his mother Harue, thought it would be impolite to go empty-handed based on his past life’s sensibilities, but probably no middle school parent would demand such a thing, probably.
”Mom, I want to bring some snacks when I go to Akane’s house.”

Haruto arrived in front of Akane’s house
He couldn’t just wander around, so he made up his mind and sent Akane a message, and she came out of the house right away.
”Welcome, Haruto”
”T-thank you for inviting me”

Akane led him into the entrance and towards the living room
Haruto was stunned by the scene he saw after opening the door.
”Excuse me for intruding… uh”
”Let me introduce you, this is my *papa* and mama”
Haruto only heard “mama” and took the words at face value. So he didn’t expect her father to be there too, and for a moment he was frozen in place.
But Haruto has memories of his past life! He was a working adult! He quickly switches his consciousness.
”Nice to meet you, I’m Ichijou Haruto”
”Nice to meet you, I’m Akane’s mother. Next to me is Akane’s father”
”These are cookies from the ‘Cookie Auntie’ store, please everyone have some”
”Oh, thank you”
Akane’s mother replied with a smile, but her father didn’t say a word, didn’t make eye contact, and seemed like he didn’t want to be there but had no choice.
Haruto and Akane sat on the living room sofa, and on the welcoming side, Akane’s mother and father sat down
The moment of sitting down on the sofa and the resulting silence was enough to show how heavy the atmosphere in the room was.
”Haruto-kun has passed the entrance exam, I hear, that’s great”
”Thank you very much”
”Was the exam difficult?”
”Yes, it was somewhat difficult”
While having such trivial conversation, Akane’s father, who had been silent until now, spoke.
”You want to enter medical school, right?”
”Yes, that’s correct”
”What do you think after graduating from medical school? You are still a junior high school student”
”That’s enough, you be quiet for a little while”
Akane’s mother, who was about to ask questions about the future roughly 8 years ahead to Haruto, who has not even entered high school yet, tries to stop him, but it seems to be useless.
”After graduating from medical school, I plan to take the residency, but I am not considering becoming a specialist”
”Hmm, and after that?”
Enroll in medical school for 6 years and pass the national medical exam to obtain a medical license.
Then
Two years of practical experience as a resident (initial training) (Haruto considers this as far as he goes)
Further
Participate in a specialty training program for about 3 years and pass to obtain a specialist certificate.
※A specialist refers to a doctor who is well-versed in a specific field of clinical medicine (e.g., pediatrics, dermatology, etc.)
”I’m considering opening a massage shop”
”I see”
Haruto could have answered that he has not yet decided after the residency, but probably, he expects that Akane has already heard some of it, so he honestly says it.
”Let me teach you one thing”
”Yes”
”Massage shops, osteopathic clinics, are jobs for those who *could not* become doctors”
Honestly, Haruto was annoyed by the way of speaking, but if he got angry here, it would affect future relationships, so he forcibly suppresses what he wants to say and answers calmly.
”I understand that my way of thinking is different. But I want to interact with people troubled by various bodily abnormalities while having knowledge as a doctor.”
”Then you should open a private clinic”
Akane’s father’s argument is very reasonable.
But, Haruto gave up on making him understand at this point. No matter how much he argues with someone whose way of thinking or values differ, it is useless.
Especially, he realized in his past life that arguing with someone in the profession called teacher has only disadvantages.
”Papa! Stop it already!! It’s still a long way off, and Haruto has his own thoughts!”
”True, but Akane, let me say this much”
Akane could no longer keep silent and opened her mouth
Showing some understanding of her daughter’s words, but in a manner that doesn’t invite further comment, she speaks the last words.
”I won’t marry my precious daughter to a massage shop owner!”
Haruto had somewhat expected it
Someday, he thought, Akane, whose parents are doctors, would say that he, aiming to open a massage shop, is not suitable. It was just that it happened much sooner than he had expected.
Today, he didn’t come to talk about marrying Akane
Nor was he opposed to his relationship with Akane
