Chapter 48 Club Activity Observation： Swimming Club

”Sorry, we’re not allowing observations right now,” the girl replied politely.
Haruto had just arrived at the swimming club and asked if he could observe the practice. But it seemed the club had a strict policy against casual observers, especially those with, well, ulterior motives. Apparently, observations were only allowed during the first week after first-year students’ club activities were unlocked.
(Damn it! I really wanted to see those competitive swimsuits!)
Haruto sighed, disappointed but resigned. As he turned to leave, a familiar voice called out.
”Huh? Haruto-kun?”
He turned around and saw a face from the past—Mizukawa Sayaka, his former student council president from middle school. She had been Akane’s classmate and a close friend.
”Ah, Sayaka-senpai! Long time no see!”
Haruto greeted with a smile.
”Yeah, it’s been a while! I heard you transferred here. What brings you to the swimming club?”
”I was thinking of joining a club, so I’m checking out a few. But it looks like I can’t observe here.”
”Oh, that’s too bad. But hey, since you’re Akane’s boyfriend, I’m sure we can make an exception.”
”Wait, Sayaka!” another girl interrupted. “Haruto-kun’s here because he’s Akane’s boyfriend, right? So it’s fine!”
”Huh!? No way! I didn’t know they were dating! Well, if that’s the case, it’s all good.”
Haruto couldn’t help but chuckle at their banter. Girls always assumed the worst (or best?) about guys’ intentions, but he wasn’t here to ogle—though he wouldn’t complain if he got to see some swimsuits.
”Plus, Haruto-kun knows a lot about the human body. He might be able to help Rin-chan with her problem.”
”Rin-chan?” Haruto asked, curious.
”She’s been pushing herself too hard in practice and ended up hurting herself,” Sayaka explained.
Haruto shrugged. He wasn’t a doctor, but he knew enough about anatomy to help with minor issues. As they walked toward the pool, the sound of splashing water and cheerful chants filled the air.
”Sei! Sei!” the swimmers chanted in unison.
”What’s that?”
”Oh, that’s our team cheer. It’s supposed to be ‘Tobasē’ (Fly away), but somehow it got shortened to just ‘Sei,’” Sayaka laughed.
Haruto nodded, amused. It reminded him of how gas station attendants slurred “Irasshaimase” into “Shase-” or “Arigatou gozaimashita” into “Ashita-.”
They arrived at the poolside, where a stunning girl stood, water dripping from her sleek swimsuit. Her belly button peeked through the fabric, and a small bump on her chest caught Haruto’s eye.
(Dangerous. I might get an erection.)
Haruto quickly averted his gaze, recalling a cringe-worthy memory from his past life when he’d called an escort service only to be greeted by an ancient woman who killed any mood.
”Rin-chan, can I talk to you for a moment?”
”Hmm? What’s up?”
Rin replied, drying her hair with a towel.
”This is my junior, Haruto-kun. He knows a lot about the human body and might be able to help you.”
”Ichijou Haruto, first-year.”
”Ayase Rin, second-year.”
She responded, looking slightly surprised but intrigued.
”Did you just join the club?” Rin asked.
”No, not yet. Sayaka-senpai thought I could help with your problem since I know a bit about anatomy.”
He had come here to observe, but now he was being pulled into solving someone’s issue. Still, with a beauty like Rin in front of him, he couldn’t say no.
”Even if you say you’re knowledgeable about the human body…”
Rin trailed off skeptically.
”Hey, remember those acupressure points for menstrual pain? Haruto-kun taught me those,” Sayaka chimed in.
Haruto raised an eyebrow. He’d only ever used those techniques on Akane, but apparently, word had spread among the upperclassmen.
”What!? Really!?”
”Yeah, maybe he knows a spot to ease your pain.”
Sayaka suggested. Haruto, still clueless about the specifics of Rin’s problem, was led by the two girls into the clubroom.
