Time rewound slightly to when Haruto began Yui’s rear assesment.
In the lobby of a certain high-end hotel, a man walked briskly.
(I’m a little late.)
The man glanced at his wristwatch, boarded the elevator, and headed to the top-floor suite.
Upon arriving, he knocked loudly on the door.
Click.
A woman in her mid-twenties peeked out.
”I had an appointment with the doctor. My name is Miyoshi Shuichi.”
”Come in.”
The woman quickly returned, clearly looking down on him, but Shuichi endured it.
Yes, the man standing here now is the director of Miyoshi Hospital and Akane’s father.
”Sorry to have kept you waiting.”
”Oh, Miyoshi-kun, I’ve been waiting for you.”
Upon entering, he immediately apologized for being late.
The man sitting on the sofa, drinking wine, is a prefectural assembly member from Shuichi’s prefecture.
”Well, have a seat.”
”Then, excuse me.”
Prompted, Shuichi sat on the sofa.
Next to the man was the woman who had opened the door earlier. For a moment, he was distracted by her red panties visible as she crossed her legs, but he quickly averted his gaze.
”Let me introduce you. She’s the mama of the new shop opening in front of the station.”
”Pleased to meet you.”
Clearly, she didn’t mean it, but Shuichi silently bowed his head.
Anyway, she’s probably this politician’s mistress or something, running a store funded by him. He has no intention of going.
”Also, Mitsuba Medical is coming out with a new endoscope. I’ll be counting on you again.”
”So, that is……”
In fact, he’d just purchased a new medical device after being told the same thing a little while ago.
Of course, Shuichi understands it’s desirable to buy from a local company. He gets it, but he doesn’t like that it results in this man having a good time.
”Well, if Miyoshi-kun can’t do it, I’ll just ask someone else.”
”Y-Yes, understood! I’ll have the person in charge contact you later.”
”I see! Always bad.”
Hospitals have strong connections with prefectures.
That’s the case, and since prefectures grant various approvals for hospitals, it’s only natural they grow larger.
Not only does building a hospital require approval, but subsidies for medical devices—costing millions per unit—also need prefectural approval.
Even if it’s a stretch, Shuichi isn’t the only one who values connections with assembly members.
This is how it is locally, but nationally, an incredible amount of money moves.
Starting with pharmaceutical companies, politicians, bureaucrats, medical equipment manufacturers, university hospitals, private hospitals, etc.
Many of these powerful figures are Chiba University graduates.
This is why Akane, who’s seen Shuichi—a local medical school student—is so attached to Chiba University’s medical school.
Akane doesn’t want to become powerful.
Her parents don’t like Miyoshi Clinic being exploited.
”Then, I’ll take my leave.”
The politician and the woman started flirting, so Shuichi’s business must be done.
He quickly retreated, sighing as he headed home.
