Volume 2 Chapter 13 Securing a Property and Monster Hunting
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Nier and I headed to the Merchant Guild to find a new place.
Since it was just the two of us now, the six-tatami studio at the inn had become stiflingly cramped.
We’d managed to find a promising property on the listings, so we went to check it out immediately.
* * *
Led by a Guild staff member, Nier and I walked through the city.
We headed down the main thoroughfare for a bit before ducking into a side street that opened up into a quiet, high-end neighborhood lined with imposing estates.
It wasn’t long before we reached our destination.
”This is the one,” the staff member announced.
”Hoh. Not bad at all,” I said.
”Goshujin-sama… it’s incredible… it’s a palace…” Nier whispered.
A high brick wall encircled the entire lot.
It stood taller than I did, completely shielding the grounds from prying eyes on the street.
The guide unlocked the heavy iron gate, and as we stepped inside, the full scale of the mansion was revealed.
It was a three-story structure, stone-built over a sturdy wooden frame.
A cobblestone path led straight from the gate to the front entrance.
Since the house sat in the center of a lush garden, there was plenty of distance between us and the neighbors.
To the left of the building, I spotted a small outbuilding.
It looked like a stable for horses.
”Who’s the owner of this place?” I asked.
”Lord Mario Tavares,” the staff member replied. “He is currently based in the neighboring city of Elmana.”
”I see. Why is a place like this up for rent?”
”He has no plans to visit Grimm City¹ for the foreseeable future, so he figured he might as well lease it out.”
”Makes sense,” I muttered.
According to the staff member, houses of this caliber were rare even in Grimm City. I’d worried the rent was suspiciously low, but apparently, very few people here could afford more than a single Gold Coin a month—the average citizen’s entire salary.
Most commoners lived crammed into one-room apartments with two or three entire families sharing the space. There was no privacy, no room to breathe. Meanwhile, the truly wealthy already owned their own estates. That left high-end rentals like this in a dead zone with very few takers.
Inside, the foyer opened up to a grand staircase leading to the second floor.
The first floor housed a dining hall, a kitchen, a guest parlor, and a storage room.
The parlor and dining hall were massive, easily three hundred square feet each.
”Goshujin-sama! The kitchen and dining room are huge!” Nier squealed.
She was already beaming; well, she was the one who’d be doing the cooking, so her excitement was fair.
”Are the table and chairs included?” I asked.
”Yes, feel free to use them,” the staff member said. “Just try not to break anything.”
It was fully furnished—a massive win. As long as we kept them in good shape, we were allowed to use whatever we needed.
The second floor was the master’s domain.
To the left of the landing was the primary suite, with another large room on the opposite side across the stairs. I noticed a fireplace built into the corner of the bedroom.
”A fireplace, huh? It’ll be nice to have a warm room in the dead of winter.”
”Commoner houses don’t have those… this is so decadent… Goshujin-sama,” Nier said.
”I guess so. Oh, and it’s got a bed. That saves us some trouble.”
A queen-sized bed sat in the center of the room, flanked by several sturdy wardrobes.
”Excuse me,” I called to the guide. “What’s that over there?”
”That is the master’s private privy.”
”Doing my business right in the bedroom? Is there another one?”
”There are no others. Honestly, a house with even one indoor privy is a luxury.”
In the back corner of the suite was a pit-style toilet². It was essentially a wooden box with a hole cut in the top that you crouched over. A bucket underneath caught everything, and the entire process was completely transparent; you could see exactly where everything went.
”No other toilets in the whole place… is that standard?”
”Goshujin-sama, normally houses don’t have privies at all,” Nier said. “I don’t think even the Nobles have them.”
”Then where the hell does everyone go?”
”You use a bucket indoors. Most people just dump the waste out front or toss it into the street.”
”Ah… so that’s what people are doing when they hurl stuff from their balconies. What about the Nobles?”
”I think they just dump their buckets in the corner of the garden.”
”Even the aristocracy? Well, that explains why the whole city reeks.”
Apparently, sanitation technology in this world was still in the dark ages. Places like our current inn with communal toilets were actually the exception, not the rule.
The third floor was for the help—several small private rooms and one large dormitory. There was even an attic above that, usually reserved for low-level servants or slaves.
”Nier. In a place this big, no one’s going to hear us if we get loud.”
”Goshujin-sama…” she blushed.
”It’s a rental, so we don’t have to be perfect. Let’s take it.”
We headed back to the Merchant Guild to sign the papers.
The contract was refreshingly simple: pay ten days before the next month starts, and give ten days’ notice before moving out.
”Do you have your citizenship papers?”
”No, just my Adventurer Plate³.”
”That’ll do. Name and age?”
”Ryuichi. Forty.”
”Perfect. Sign here.”
The rent was month-to-month, so I handed over one Gold Coin and five Silver Coins. I’d need to be back in twenty days to cover the next month.
I took the keys to the gate and the front door, and we stepped back out into the cool evening air. The sun had already dipped below the horizon.
”Good find, Nier. You did well.”
”Ehehe… thank you, Goshujin-sama.”
She looked genuinely happy to be praised, her face breaking into a satisfied smile.
”It’s late. Let’s get back to the inn.”
”Yes, Goshujin-sama.”
Once we were back, Nier prepared dinner. We sat across from each other at the table, completely naked. I enjoyed my meal while admiring the contrast between her sharp, elegant features and her heavy breasts.
”The house has furniture, but we’re going to need supplies.”
”Yes. Fire-starting tools, cookware, fresh straw and sheets for the bed, buckets… the list is long.”
”Let’s get everything squared away before we move. We’ve already paid for five nights at the inn anyway.”
”That sounds wise.”
”Nier. Can I leave the shopping to you?”
”Yes! Leave it to me!”
”We have four days, so don’t kill yourself. Some of that stuff will be heavy.”
”I’ll manage. I’ll move things into the mansion as I buy them.”
”Good. Here’s a Gold Coin⁴ to start. Let me know if you need more.”
”Goshujin-sama, um… I don’t actually have a purse…”
”Right. Buy yourself a purse while you’re at it.”
”Thank you!”
”I also need a shave. Pick me up a good razor.”
”You got it, Goshujin-sama.”
With the shopping handled, I needed to focus on the finances. Rent wasn’t going to pay itself.
”I’m heading into the Magic Forest⁵ to hunt some monsters starting tomorrow.”
”What?! The… the Magic Forest?”
”Don’t worry about it.”
”Goshujin-sama… please, just come back safe…”
She looked genuinely worried. Well, I had developed new magic after all. The outskirts of the forest should be fine.
After finishing dinner, we cleaned up and brushed our teeth. Before bed, I gave her a long, deep kiss as a reward. After we finished, we finally settled into bed and fell asleep.
* * *
’—The next morning.’
”Mmph…!”
I was jolted awake by a lightning bolt of pure, white-hot pleasure centered right on my glans.
I lifted my head, blinking back sleep, and looked down.
Nier was kneeling on the floor beside the bed, her head bobbing as she worked my c**k over with her mouth. She gripped the shaft firmly with her right hand, her tongue swirling aggressively around the sensitive head.
”Nnnh! …Slurp… lick… hah… Good morning, Goshujin-sama…”
”Yeah. Morning.”
”Goshujin-sama… nnh… please… can I… can I go…?”
She was squirming, her hips grinding against the floorboards as her left hand worked frantically between her own thighs. As she moved her hand incessantly at her crotch, she looked up at me with pleading eyes.
”What? You want to finish already?”
”I can’t… hold it… ah… I’m right there… hng!”
”Wait. Not yet.”
”Aanh… please…”
”Make me blow first. You’re going to finish while you’re tasting my seed. Cum with me inside you.”
”Fhai… gulp… rero… mmn… slurp…”
She went back to work, her tongue licks becoming more desperate. Her grip was surprisingly strong, her hand pumping me from the base to the ridge of the head with a firm, rhythmic squeeze. I watched her, watched the way her body arched and her hand worked her own clit. Watching that, I let my own heat spike instantly.
”Alright. Get ready. I’m going to give you a mouthful.”
”Nn-ah! …Slurp… lick… m-mnh!”
”Here it comes! Don’t you dare swallow yet!”
’—Thrum! Splat… pulse… pulse…—’
”Mgh…! Mmn… mnh…”
”Don’t stop your mouth or your hand. Squeeze every last drop out of me.”
”An-hai… nnh… slurp… lick… mgh… mgh…”
I leaned back, basking in the hypersensitive afterglow as she drained me dry.
”Alright, that’s enough. Open up and let me see.”
She pulled back with a wet pop and opened her mouth.
”Look at that. You got a lot. Good.”
”Now… keep it in there. I want you to finish while you’re tasting my seed. Cum with me inside you.”
”Fhai… ah! …Nnh-nnh! …Haaah! …”
She started masturbating in earnest right in front of me, her mouth hanging open to show me the thick, white cream coating her tongue. I could see her long tongue crawling around, the viscous liquid clinging to it as she worked her fingers faster and faster.
”Ah! Ah! Aaah! …Goshujin-sama… I’m… I’m going! I’m going! Aaaaah!”
Her back arched and she shuddered, her fingers grinding against her clitoris as she peaked, all while keeping my seed pooled in her mouth.
”Good girl. You did great. Come here.”
”Haah… haah… Goshujin-sama…”
”You can close your mouth, but don’t swallow it yet.”
”Fhai.”
I pulled her onto the bed to let her catch her breath. She lay there facing me, her cheeks slightly puffed out as she held my load.
”I’m hungry. Nier, go fix some breakfast.”
”Fhai.”
”Keep it in your mouth while you cook. I want that taste burned into your memory.”
”…Fhai… Goshujin-sama.”
It wasn’t particularly necessary, but for now, I’d have her memorize the taste. With her cheeks still bulging, Nier changed into her clothes and headed out.
In the meantime, I let my thoughts wander toward my next move.
I’ve already rented the mansion, and my expenses are only going to pile up from here.
I need to establish a steady stream of income.
Maybe I’ll spend a while focusing on hunting monsters.
I can leave the shopping to Nier; she should be able to handle it.
As I’m mulling it over, Nier returns to the room.
Her cheeks are puffed out like a squirrel’s.
I force her mouth open, finding it filled to the brim with accumulated saliva and semen.
”Good. You can swallow now.”
”Yess… mgh… Gulp. Gulp. Gulp. Glug.“
”Well? Have you memorized the taste of my seed yet?”
”…I have… Goshujin-samaaa.”
* * *
Once I’ve finished my meal, it’s time to move out.
I strap on my leather armor and set out for the hunt.
I pass through the North Gate and follow the main road toward the Magic Forest.
It’s about an hour’s walk from the city.
Today, it doesn’t seem like there are any pests tailing me.
The Magic Forest finally comes into view.
Off to the right in the distance, I can see a logging crew at work.
It looks like they source their timber from these woods.
I reach the forest entrance.
Finally, the real hunt begins.
I head into the woods, following the Melin River upstream.
After walking for a while, I take a left and head toward the water.
I stop just before reaching the riverbank.
The shore is littered with rocks and boulders of all different sizes.
This is where I’ll test the fruits of my magic training.
I need to get a feel for the maximum range I can maintain while keeping my accuracy.
I begin firing off spells one after another, targeting the stones, the boulders, and the trees on the far bank.
I’m looking for the limit where I can still hit something the size of a coin.
I begin by firing Ice Bullet⁶ and Fireball⁷, which max out at about twenty meters.
The Ice Bullet is so fast it’s almost invisible to the eye.
It feels like it’s packing the muzzle velocity of a handgun.
Fire Arrow⁸ reaches about fifty meters; I can really reach out and touch someone with that.
The impact point detonates, so the destructive power is pretty significant.
Wind Cutter⁹ and Air Hammer¹⁰ only have a range of about ten meters.
The reach is short, but the fact that the attacks are invisible is a huge plus.
(The further the target is, the more I have to compensate for gravity and wind.)
I have absolute control over the area within a three-meter radius of myself.
Inside that zone, I can even suspend an Ice Bullet motionless in mid-air.
Once it crosses that three-meter line, it seems to fall back under the reign of physics.
I reach out and touch the Ice Bullet floating in the air.
It doesn’t budge – not even a millimeter.
It’s locked firmly in place.
(Wait, couldn’t I actually ride this thing?)
Just as a test, I manifest a thick slab of ice at my feet and step onto it.
It holds my weight without any issues.
I bring my other foot up and stand tall on the ice.
”Whoa… it actually works!”
I try to nudge the ice plate forward slowly.
The slab carries me along, gliding through the air with a smooth hum.
It’s as steady as a moving walkway at an airport.
(This is a little sketchy, though. I need something to hold onto.)
Since I’m just standing on a moving board, I feel like I might slip off.
I manifest two lumps of ice at palm height to use as handles.
I link the movement of the floor slab and the hand-grips together.
As long as I move them at the same speed and in the same direction, it’s easy.
The stability is much better now.
I don’t feel like I’m going to tumble off anymore.
However, being made of ice, the grips and the floor are freezing my hands and feet.
(Ice is a no-go. Can I manifest rock? …Yeah, that works.)
I swap the ice for a stone slab and stone hand-grips.
This is much better.
No more frostbite.
I decide to see how high I can go.
I gradually increase my altitude.
Even after I clear the treetops, I keep climbing higher.
”Holy… okay, that’s terrifying.”
I immediately regret coming up this high.
The wind is howling around me, buffeting my body.
I’ve always had a thing about heights.
My limbs are shaking.
My balls have completely shriveled up into my stomach.
I’ve never been able to handle those drop-tower rides at theme parks.
This is basically a suicide machine without a seatbelt.
I keep my eyes away from the ground and slowly lower myself back down.
”Whew, I thought I was a goner… No more high-altitude flights for me.”
Still, it makes sense.
If I can hurl objects with magic, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to ride them.
In hindsight, it’s completely obvious.
This is going to make scouting for monsters a breeze.
I decided to call this new spell Fly¹¹.
Even if Fly is just me standing on a floating rock.
I’ve tested everything I wanted to check.
I spent a good chunk of time on it, so it’s already getting close to evening.
I kick Fly into gear and start my search.
I hover on the stone slab about two meters off the ground.
At this height, I should have a massive tactical advantage over anything on the forest floor.
I push the slab forward at about the speed of a bicycle.
If I fall at this speed, I’ll be seriously hurt, so I don’t push my luck.
Even so, it’s several times faster than trekking through the brush on foot.
I glide effortlessly over branches and vines.
As I follow the river, I spot some figures walking along the bank.
I stay high on my slab, hiding in the shadows of the trees to get a look.
”Gik! Gik!“
”Geee! Geee!“
They’re nearly naked, carrying crude wooden clubs.
Ugly mugs, with ears and noses that are way too big for their heads.
They’re short – about the size of an elementary schooler.
They look exactly like the descriptions; those have to be Goblins.
Three Goblins are trekking along the riverbank.
They’re heading right toward me.
The gap is about thirty meters.
The idiots haven’t even noticed I’m here.
”Fire Arrow.”
I start by manifesting a single flaming bolt and let it fly at the lead Goblin.
With a sharp whoosh, the arrow streaks through the air.
It slams into his face and detonates with a heavy thump.
The remaining Goblins immediately snap their heads toward me and start charging.
”Fireball.”
I launch a sphere of flame at the one on the right.
The fireball catches him right in the gut, blowing him off his feet and backward.
The last Goblin raises his club and sprints toward me.
”Air Hammer.”
I aim a blast of compressed air right at his skull.
The impact hits with a sickening crack, snapping his neck 180 degrees and sending him sprawling.
”Alright. Looks like that’s all of them.”
These bastards… they kept coming even after their buddies got wrecked.
Since I was hovering with Fly, they couldn’t even reach me at their height.
Usually, creatures would bolt, but I guess their IQ is in the single digits.
I deactivate Fly and drop to the ground.
I go over to check the bodies.
The ones hit by the Fire Arrow and Air Hammer were dead before they hit the ground.
The one who took the Fireball to the stomach is still twitching, groaning in agony from a massive hole in his torso.
I use Wind Cutter to take his head, putting him out of his misery.
(Now then, these things should have a Magic Stone¹² in their hearts.)
I use a localized version of my Other-Dimensional Magic¹³, reaching into their chests to Storage¹⁴ their hearts.
I pull the hearts out of my storage, set them on the dirt, and get to work with my knife.
Digging through a Goblin’s heart is revolting, but it has to be done.
At least I had the foresight to wear leather gloves.
I slice into the muscle, and a pitch-black stone rolls out.
”Whew. So this is a Magic Stone… I think I’ll call it a day.”
I managed to bag three Magic Stones.
It’s getting late, so I decide to head back to the city.
My first hunt was a massive success.
I’ve killed a Zombie and a Poison Snake before, but that was just purely about survival while I was trying to get out of the forest.
I use Fly to cover most of the distance back, landing just before I clear the tree line.
From there, I walk the rest of the way to Grimm.
It would be bad news if someone saw me flying around.
I pass through the North Gate, cross the Square, and head into the Adventurer’s Guild.
I head to the appraisal counter and spot Balan in his blood-stained apron.
”Balan. Give me a price on these Magic Stones.”
”Oh, if it isn’t Ryuichi. Let me see… for stones like these, I can give you one Silver Coin each.”
”Fair enough. I’ll take it.”
”Alright. Three stones for three Silver. Take this slip over to the reception.”
I take the slip and head to the desk.
That bratty receptionist… she’s nowhere to be seen.
I approach a different girl with a much more composed expression.
”Can you process this for me?”
”Yes, of course. With the subjugation bonus, your total comes to three Silver and six Copper Coins.”
”Thanks. …By the way, what happened to the girl who was here before?”
”Ah, you mean Helga. She… has resigned. She’s no longer an employee of the Adventurer’s Guild.”
”Is that so? Got it. Thanks.”
So the brat’s name was Helga.
The girl at the desk gave me a look that said she knew exactly why Helga was gone.
It seems the Guild Master followed through on his word.
As I step out of the Guild, the five o’clock bell chimes.
When I get back to the inn, Nier is waiting in the room with dinner ready.
”Keep you waiting?”
”Goshujin-sama!”
Nier practically lunges at me the moment I open the door.
She buries her face in my chest, looking like she’s on the verge of tears.
”I’m fine. Nothing happened.”
”Yes…”
”Nier. You don’t have to stay naked when I’m not here. You can wear clothes.”
”Eh…? Oh… okay…”
Nier had been sitting there waiting for me completely bare.
There’s really no point in her being naked if I’m not even in the room.
It doesn’t do anything for me.
I sit down and we start on dinner.
”Today at the smithy, there was this really nice iron pot on sale, and…”
I let Nier chatter on about her shopping trip.
I watch her face and her breasts while I let her voice wash over me, not really paying attention.
Not a single thing she says actually sticks in my head.
After dinner, it’s time for a bath and to brush our teeth.
Her hair has started to look much better after a few days of proper washing.
I let her kiss me before we turn in.
I can’t have her making noise in this inn, so s*x is off the table for now.
”Goshujin-sama… I’m just glad you’re back.”
”Yeah. Sorry for worrying you.”
”…Hehe. Good night.”
”Good night, Nier.”
