Chapter 104 The Water Medicine Syringe is Priceless
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After a while, Yukina Yuki, having fought with all her strength, led the way as the classmates began to pour in, one after another, from the retreating path. They were all visibly relieved to have made it back, but they couldn’t ignore the significance of the moment—it was the fact that they had returned to where they started from.
”We made it back…” one of the classmates murmured, and as soon as the words were spoken, the girls immediately hugged each other, some crying as they celebrated their survival.
Soon after the girls, the boys returned. They were all injured to some extent, but none of the injuries were life-threatening, thanks to Sayumi Mineyama’s protection as the rear guard.
However…
”Ms. Mineyama! Pull yourself together! We’ve finally reached the exit! You can’t die now!”
The boys helped Mineyama back to the group, and Yukina screamed in shock, rushing to her side.
”Sayumi-chan!!”
To Yukina’s horror, Mineyama had returned in a near-death state, covered in wounds, barely holding on to life. The boys explained that she had taken on multiple attacks alone to protect them, suffering severe injuries in the process.
(What do we do?)
Yuki, overwhelmed with panic, stood frozen. Everyone had injuries to some degree, and the potions they had used on the way here were nearly gone, but the most pressing issue was Mineyama’s condition—it was worse than anyone had expected.
Mineyama’s right leg was almost severed, and she had deep cuts from her chest to her abdomen. At this point, even potions might take too long to heal her, and it was unclear if she could be saved.
(What should I do…)
As Yuki stood in confusion and fear, Tokihara Misaki suddenly pushed her way through and spoke sharply, snapping Yuki out of her daze.
”What are you doing? Are you just going to stand there like that?!”
Yuki, caught off guard by Tokihara’s sudden aggression, protested.
”What… What are you doing, Ms. Tokihara?!”
Tokihara, her face full of determination, shot back, “What do you think you’re doing?! Are you just going to stand by and let Ms. Mineyama die?!”
Yuki hesitated, afraid of the outcome. She feared that even with the potion, Mineyama might not survive, and the thought of losing her was terrifying. It was a dilemma that shook Yuki deeply—she wasn’t used to making such hard decisions.
”Don’t waste time thinking about it! The situation is getting worse!” Tokihara snapped, her voice urgent.
With that, Tokihara opened a first aid kit she had been carrying—one given to her as a parting gift from Sashima. She rummaged through it, but when she reached for the potion, her face fell in confusion.
”There’s no potion… Huh?” she muttered, before her eyes widened in surprise. Instead of the expected potion, she found a strange 15 cm long object, shaped like a stick.
”What… is this…? How do I use it?”
She held the object up in disbelief, but it had no buttons or markings to show how it worked. As she puzzled over it, one of the girls behind them suddenly spoke up, a look of realization crossing her face.
”Wait… Doesn’t that look like the pressure syringe my grandmother uses for her diabetes?”
”Pressure syringe?” Tokihara echoed, her confusion deepening.
”Yeah… My grandmother has diabetes, and she uses one of these often,” the girl explained.
Tokihara, still uncertain, figured it couldn’t hurt to try. She applied the syringe to Mineyama’s body, targeting one of the major arteries as instructed.
And then…
With a soft whoosh, a hissing sound filled the air, and the bleeding began to slow, then stop. Slowly but surely, Mineyama’s wounds started to heal. The pain on her face faded, and the unnatural pallor of her skin began to disappear.
The entire group, who had been watching in stunned silence, now voiced their amazement in quiet disbelief.
”What… what is that potion?”
”That’s incredible! How’s it working so fast?”
”Is that kind of potion something they sell at the store?”
The questions flew, but Tokihara didn’t have time to respond. Mineyama’s condition had stabilized so quickly that within moments, she regained consciousness.
”Ugh… Where… am I?”
”Sayumi-chan!!” Yuki cried out, rushing to Mineyama’s side, tears welling up in her eyes as she embraced her.
”Sayumi-chan… You pushed yourself too hard on your own…”
Yuki sobbed, but Mineyama, still weak, gently patted her head and spoke softly.
”I’m sorry, Yukina… I didn’t mean to worry you…”
Yuki, her heart aching, held onto Mineyama tightly, relieved that she had made it through. Mineyama’s reassuring words brought a small but precious sense of calm amidst the chaos.
