Chapter 120 Anecdotes; The Return to Yugan

Unlike the journey to Valend, the road back to Freehold City Yugan was safe. With many knights and riders guarding the carriages, no bandits or monsters dared to attack. Even in this otherworld, no fool would strike such an escort.
Sashima came along, and every time she saw something not found in their old world, she kept asking questions. She was completely in tourist mode.
When Princess Laura heard I was leaving Valend, she fainted with shock. Of course, as a royal princess, she could not come with me. She could only cry a little as she watched me go.
Remembering that, I glanced outside. By the coastline, Sashima spotted a group of giant crabs.
”Wow, look, Sanai! Huge crabs! They look just like fiddler crabs. I wonder if they taste good? Or what do they eat to get that big?” she asked, curious.
I sighed and answered. “Ah… those are called Gynsar. They like to eat humans. Back when I first settled in Yugan, I was almost eaten by one. So never go near them.”
Sashima blinked slowly, then went pale. “Wh-what? Those crabs… they eat people?!” she said, pointing with a trembling finger.
”Yeah. Like you said, around here people and Gynsar eat each other. They say the meat is thick and tasty… but if you want to try some to celebrate your arrival in Yugan, I’ll buy it for you,” I joked.
Of course, Hiyori shook her head hard. She might try a normal crab, but not a crab that happily ate humans.
”I get it… but in this world, it’s harder to find creatures that don’t eat people. If you worry too much, you won’t be able to eat anything at all. I know how you feel though.”
I guessed what Sashima was thinking and said it before she spoke. But maybe that was a mistake. She froze with an uneasy face, clearly scared. I hadn’t meant to frighten her… but I failed.

• Sashima – Family name of Hiyori. A quiet, caring girl from the library committee, empathetic toward Sanai. She followed as a Barrier Technique Adept.
