Chapter 146 Interlude – The Group Guests Have Arrived!
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
While Ayumu Sanai wandered hopelessly through the slums, Yoluminette and her unit had already finished what he could not—eradicating the bandits.
He arrived just in time to witness her dispatch the last of them. With a sharp cry—”Sword Technique: Ten-Man Slash”—her figure blurred from sight. In the next heartbeat, ten men toppled at once, blood spraying across the dirt as their bodies struck the ground in eerie unison.
Watching her work, Ayumu’s private list of people he absolutely didn’t want to cross grew longer. Still, he couldn’t deny the cool factor. Maybe, just maybe, he could learn that technique one day… right?
But Yoluminette, ever the pragmatic killer, immediately turned her blade toward the Half-Elf girl Ayumu had just rescued, declaring her a dangerous liability. Panicking, Ayumu demanded proof of her worth.
That girl—Myucel—quietly revealed her skill. She knew herbs, far more than anyone Ayumu had ever met. With a casual touch, she made one bloom before his very eyes—a plant he himself had failed to cultivate countless times.
Naturally, Ayumu hired her on the spot. Sure, everyone else, Yoluminette especially, was against the idea, but how could he waste such precious knowledge? And besides—she was beautiful, sweet, and gentle. How dangerous could she really be? (Totally flawless logic, of course.)
At the time, Ayumu genuinely believed that.
Not long after Myucel joined, rumors spread. One by one, more Half-Elves arrived, drawn by whispers of a safe place. If it had only been cute girls, Ayumu would have welcomed them all with open arms. But no—men came too. Men! He wanted to shout, “I don’t need guys! Get out!”
But then he saw the roads they traveled littered with the hacked-up remains of Monstrous Beasts they had fought through to reach Keldan. How could he refuse them after that? All he could do was force a stiff smile and mutter, “Welcome to Keldan…”
Ninim, of course, was merciless. “Geez, what are you going to do about this?!” she snapped every time another Half-Elf showed up. It wasn’t just their presence—it was the way Ayumu kept handing them the suburban apartment blocks he had built.
But what choice did he have? If not for Myucel’s adorableness, he swore he never would have gone this far. Still, the benefits were undeniable: herb cultivation improved, and the Half-Elves proved skilled with longbows, finally putting Keldan’s dusty stockpile of weapons to good use.
So Ayumu did what he always did—threw himself at Ninim, whining for mercy. “Please forgive meee, Ninim-tan—help meee (sob)!”
Her reply was swift and merciless. With a sharp glare, she kicked him aside.
”Gross.”
