Chapter 201 Failed Assassination

Reports reached certain nobles of the Minor Nobles’ League, and they trembled with anger and fear. The first attempt: hiring a famed assassin to eliminate Ayumu—failed. The second: employing local thugs to raise a bandit group to do the job—also failed.
The third attempt? Bribing an entire Elandric inn to poison his drinks. Perhaps Ayumu sensed something, or maybe the drink just tasted off, because he tossed it into a potted plant instead. (Truth be told, the taste had changed due to the poison, and it was awful, so he discarded it without realizing the danger.)
Naturally, these nobles blamed one another, each failure escalating their hysteria. They feared that Count of Keldan might notice their involvement, quivering in panic at every imagined misstep.
But their terror was unfounded.
“Ah, peace at last~”
Ayumu, oblivious to the repeated attempts on his life, strolled through his day completely unaware.
Little did he know…
“I’m out!” “What? Then I’m out too!”
”Y-yes! I’m not involved!” “Me neither—I have nothing to do with this!”
And so, Ayumu’s assassination plots fizzled out, disappearing naturally without the intended target ever realizing the danger looming around him.
And so, all ended well… peace reigned once more, at least for now.
