Chapter 215 She’s Back!

Sasami returned from her family home to resume her post.
…Except, for some reason, her entire family came with her!
”What?! Why all of you?!” Ayumu cried out.
Through tears, Sasami explained that their shack had burned down after someone played with fire. (Though, as a side note, there had already been several small fires caused by her parents’ late-night smoking habits…)
Oooh… so the goddess finally punished that cheeky little brat, Ayumu thought. Still, he decided it wasn’t worth fussing over. Well, fine. There are plenty of spare rooms here anyway.
But his brief moment of compassion ended quickly—because Sasami’s parents turned out to be troublemakers.
One day, Ayumu noticed that a fancy floral-patterned vase had gone missing. In fact, several furnishings had begun to disappear lately. Suspicious, he had the parents watched. Sure enough, they were caught selling the manor’s furniture on the black market.
That’s when it hit him. Right, they’re Sasami’s parents! Like parent, like child—no wonder!
Despite being dirt poor, they somehow lounged around all day, drinking, smoking, and dosing themselves with narcotic potions. And unlike them, Sasami—flawed as she was—at least worked hard, spouting cheeky words but still helping despite being just a child. What kind of parents lived off their daughter like this?
Worse still, her father had begun groping Rilina, Nanari, Luruna, and Vanya whenever he got the chance.
Ayumu’s rage boiled over.
”I’m lenient, yes. If it’s an accident, I’ll forgive four, maybe six times. But touch them seven, eight times on purpose—and even I won’t hold back!”
He realized things could not go on. For Sasami and her siblings’ sake, he stormed into their quarters.
There, he found the bloated mother and the skinny father sprawled out, glassy-eyed from drugs. He flung the door open and roared:
”I’ll make proper people out of you two yet!!”
Sasami wailed, clinging to him. “No, no, Lord-sama! Please don’t arrest papa and mama!!”
”Not arrest,” Ayumu corrected. “Just a little hospital stay to get clean, plus a work-support program. That’s all.” Reluctantly, she agreed.
He vowed to care for Sasami’s brothers and sisters too. “If they act up, I’ll treat them like my own sons—by beating some sense into them! Hot iron must be hammered early, and brats need it even more.”
His creed was simple: I’ll be kind only to little girls who can’t judge for themselves, and to the wise elderly. Old pests and boys—I’ll strike them down. And if they die… not my problem!
From that day on, the manor rang with boys’ crying, and Ayumu’s bellowing:
”Hey! Don’t flip Sasami’s or the maids’ skirts, you brat!!”
”Don’t run down the corridor half-naked!!”
”Eat properly, learn your manners!!”
So harsh was his discipline that even Sashima and the others often had to pull him back.
Later, Sasami’s parents themselves asked, “Honorary Count, when will we be allowed to return home?”
Ayumu’s reply was firm: “When you finally discover the joy of honest work!”
That became the turning point.
From then on, their lives became a cycle of elaborate escape attempts—sneaking out dressed as nurses with stolen ink and cloth, digging tunnels by hand like a scene from Shawshank Redemption—and Ayumu’s relentless pursuit to drag them back.
Thus began the endless war: Sasami’s parents versus Ayumu’s iron will.
