Rerobaku 253

Chapter 253 A Total Nuisance of a Savior

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Sanai Ayumu brought back the arm of a high-ranking Demonfolk. The whole country fell into an uproar.

The last time a high-ranking Demonfolk appeared on the Demi-human Continent was year 1000 of the first century.

The current year is 326 of the fourth century. That means 3,326 years had passed.

Worse, word spread that this Demonfolk was summoning monsters to build an army.

Nations across the Demi-human Continent began urgent debates about military action.

Ayumu expected a sweet reward for driving off a high-ranking Demonfolk!

But then he showed a certain sword to Emperor Rai El Yugan.

The court had just relaxed. They heard the Demonfolk was beaten.

 Then the atmosphere flipped instantly.

”W-What… Did you say the Divine Sword of Melilia…?”

Emperor Rai’s voice trembled. Cold sweat ran down his brow.

He began blinking fast the moment he heard that goddess’s name.

Her ideals were so pure they had run completely out of control.

Long ago, people worshipped that goddess. She burned away Demonfolk and monsters with golden flames.

They called her Melilia, the Goddess of Golden Justice.

She received absolute devotion. Then the Demon King was sealed away through a human sacrifice.

After that, her justice began to spiral out of control.

The real problem came when peace arrived.

With no more big evils like the Demon King, the goddess’s influence faded.

Her followers had turned her teachings into a profession.

Losing that was like losing their daily bread.

They scattered across the lands as Inquisitors. They raised the banner of absolute justice.

”Whether it is one sin or ten thousand, evil is still evil,” they declared.

They said circumstances and excuses were just impurities.

They began judging people for the smallest mistakes.

That absolute justice reached orphans who stole to survive.

It reached humans who lied to protect their families.

It reached clergymen who felt a moment of envy.

Soon, justice became a machine for punishing people.

Around that time, the goddess Melilia lost her mind too.

”Evil, malice, demons, darkness… I will never forgive even the night itself!”

She screamed in her unhinged fury.

She rained down pillars of flaming light from heaven wherever a monster appeared.

This divine punishment destroyed the land along with the Demonfolk.

To the humans caught in it, she was a total nuisance.

And Ayumu brought back HER sword!

(Wait, what’s going on? Is this sword really that bad?)

Ayumu stared blankly at the blade.

Sergei, the Royal Knights Commander, saw Ayumu’s clueless face.

He roared, “What are you thinking?! Throw that thing away!!”

Ayumu yelped and ran out of the Imperial Court like his life depended on it.

In the audience chamber, Sergei whispered to Rai.

”Your Majesty, if we leave things as they are, this will destroy our nation.”

”For everyone’s safety, wouldn’t it be best to execute him?”

But the Emperor rejected the idea. Ayumu’s power was needed to cure Crown Prince Aare’s hemophilia.

Meanwhile, Ayumu was clutching his head outside the court.

”This is bad! No matter how many times I throw this sword away, it comes back!”

He tried tossing it into a river. He buried it deep underground.

Nothing worked. The Divine Sword of Melilia kept coming back.

It sat on Lord Keldan’s office desk. It rested on Ayumu’s bed.

”Divine sword my foot! This is a cursed blade!” Ayumu screamed.

He complained to Luke, a cheerful floating skull he met in a cave.

Luke was hitching a ride in the Domain Army’s command vehicle.

Luke clattered his jaw and laughed. “Don’t get your knickers in a twist, lad. You got a divine sword from Goddess Melilia herself, and you show disrespect? What’s the big deal? It’s just a loss-prevention feature. Now you can judge anyone who breaks the laws of the universe! Show some gratitude to the Goddess!”

”Like hell I’m gonna be grateful! You didn’t warn me before I used it!”

 Ayumu’s veins throbbed with anger.

Luke chuckled. “Come on, now. You didn’t ask either, lad. Your life was on the line. We were in a right massive rush, weren’t we?”

Then a female voice echoed inside Ayumu’s brain.

”Precisely! You used my divine authority. Now you want to abandon your duties? Unforgivable! You relied on my power, even once. Hold your tongue. Strike down the dark mists. Spread my divine protection. Let my glory be known to all! First, build a shrine in my honor! Have everyone sing my praises! You stray Hero!”

Through the sword, the goddess Melilia lectured Ayumu.

A divine sword that couldn’t be thrown away. A carefree skull.

A shameless goddess demanding her own shrine.

Will Ayumu ever live a peaceful life?

Once again, he was dragged into the center of a chaotic vortex.

 Summary:

Escalating tensions grip the El Yugan court following Sanai Ayumu’s delivery of a high-ranking Demonfolk’s severed limb and the legendary Divine Sword of Melilia. Emperor Rai and Commander Sergei react with visible dread due to the historical madness of the absolute justice goddess, whose indestructible weapon automatically binds to its wielder. Ayumu attempts multiple desperate strategies to dispose of the blade, only to find it relentlessly teleporting back into his possession while a telepathic voice demands he construct a new shrine to her name.

 Trivia:

The setting runs on an Imperial Calendar structured around distinct centuries, with the narrative currently taking place in Year 326 of the Fourth Century.

High-ranking Demonfolk have been absent from the Demi-human Continent for over three millennia prior to Ayumu’s recent battle.

Goddess Melilia’s followers historically turned inquisitorial operations into an administrative, revenue-generating profession when high-profile evil entities grew scarce.

Crown Prince Aare’s severe health condition makes Ayumu an indispensable political asset despite the massive security hazards his items introduce to the court.

Luke the disembodied skull belongs to a past persona named Lucius and currently resides within an army vehicle stationed nearby.

The Divine Sword of Melilia displays a specific spatial resetting behavior, consistently returning to either Keldan’s office desk or Ayumu’s private bedding.
