Chapter 75 Crafting the Long-Awaited Magic Tool

The day after finishing the canal construction without a hitch, Ayumu finally received the long-awaited budget. Apparently, Kapon had pulled some strings with Duke Ralka. He had to admit it was impressive that promises were kept… though if the duke had backed out, Ayumu had been ready to use the leftover siege explosives to flood Livonia City with canal water.
After that little commotion, Ayumu decided it was finally time to make the magic lamp.

Since he had already practiced with stones turned into building materials, there were no mistakes. Ayumu smoothly moved into production. Thanks to the budget, he could buy magic stones mined in the Kingdom of Elandric. The result exceeded all his expectations. He had even added his own improvements, making the lamp thirty percent better than standard models. It shone thirty percent brighter than ordinary magic lamps while consuming thirty percent less magic stone.
As a side note, the magic stones had been purchased from the Elandric merchant guild. Mr. Baldric—who personally delivered them—had somehow been promoted from branch manager to Executive Baron, and Ayumu had nearly jumped out of his skin in surprise. To celebrate Mr. Baldric’s promotion, Lord Kapon had arranged for the Imperial Court to deliver a bottle of high-end wine from the Lukurusa Theocracy. That brought Ayumu a small sense of relief.
Returning to the main matter—since the lamp had been made using state funds, Ayumu would have to present it officially. A little disappointing, but hardly the end of the story.
He smirked, thinking that he could quietly fudge the ledger and make another one for himself anyway. Teehee!
