Rising Monk V1c25

Volume 1 Chapter 25 Confession

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The next morning, Kian woke up in yet another unfamiliar room.

It was a simple square space made of gray stone.

In the back, there was a wardrobe, and next to it, a small table with a mirror and some cosmetics.

There were also grapes piled in a cup.

 ”This is… Ms. Aliona’s room.”

He sat up on the white bed.

His memories were no longer hazy.

After they had been together in the bathroom yesterday, she had guided him to her bedroom, and they had fallen asleep together.

The bedding smelled gently of flowers.

 It was Aliona’s scent.

 ”Good morning, you’re awake.”

As he squinted at the white morning light streaming through the window, the door to the room opened, and in walked Aliona in her sister’s outfit.

There was no trace of the intense intimacy they had shared yesterday; she looked as clean and pure as ever.

She carried a tray with a plate of bread, some dried meat, and a bottle of wine.

”Here, eat this. I’m only allowed to have 2 meals a day, lunch after mass and dinner around sunset. If I eat more than that, I get scolded for gluttony.”

With a playful wink, Aliona set the tray down on the table in front of the bed.

She brought over a chair and sat down.

Kian got out from under the blanket and sat on the bed facing the table.

 ”Um, Ms. Aliona.”

”Oh, I need to put on some clothes before we eat. Here, these are your glasses and coat. You’re using a leather coat from Remi Cain, huh? That’s a rare find. Did you get it at a street market? My mom had one of those when she was young; it was all the rage. It’s good quality for the price and easy to take care of. Nice gear, right? I wonder if this kind of comfy armor is in style among adventurers now?”

The elf sister spoke quickly, her cheeks slightly flushed as she avoided making eye contact.

Kian repeated in a serious tone, “Um, please listen.”.

”I actually have a few things I need to apologize to you for, Ms. Aliona.”

 ”Eh…?”

 ”Please listen. It’s serious.”

”Uh, okay. What is it? If you’re asking me to marry you right now, that’s not happening.”

Kian was trying to set up some boundaries, but deep down, he knew he was lacking both financially and in terms of capability to marry Aliona.

With his social and economic status, it was more accurate to describe him as her pet or a freeloader rather than her husband.

”First off, let me apologize for not paying for the painkillers and hemostatic ointment. …This is an old copper coin I found during a quest. If I go to the monastery, I can sell it for the local wine at the Margrave Izerland’s fortress. If it’s not too much trouble, could you sell this or take it to a money changer for me?”

”…A 5-hundred-year-old copper coin!? Where on earth did you find something like this? You might be better off showing it to a scholar than taking it to a money changer.”

”Can’t you take it after all? If not, just give me a bit more time. I think I can get the quest completion reward and the free hunt reward for the griffin if I go to the guild today.”

”You look like you can’t relax until you get paid.”

”Of course. You gotta keep things in order like this.”

”Right. If that’s what makes you feel better, I’ll accept it.”

As Aliona said this, she offered Kian a plate of bread.

She also poured some wine into a glass for him.

That one glass of wine probably cost more than the painkillers.

Aliona was an ale inspector in the monastery territory, so her perspective was completely different from someone like Kian, who was broke.

”Second, I’m really sorry for what I did to you, Ms. Aliona, the day before yesterday and yesterday.”

”What did you do that was so terrible?”

”Well, um… it was about the s*x we had.”

When Kian said this hesitantly, Aliona blinked in surprise.

”Eh? Oh, oh! Yeah, we did do that. But what’s done is done. Let’s forget about the past and just have a healthy relationship moving forward. It would be too sad to say ‘goodbye, I’ll never see you again’ over just this little mistake, right?”

Her words were gentle, like she was comforting a small child.

Kian felt his heart ache more for the kind elf sister.

”Thirdly… during s*x, I took magic power from Ms. Aliona. A lot.”

He clenched his hands resting on his knees.

”Actually, a few days ago, I learned how to use a draining technique. You know, when I use healing magic, I give people magic power, but I thought maybe I could do the opposite too… So, I’ve used the draining technique twice while having s*x with Ms. Aliona. I’m really sorry.”

 ”Draining technique…?”

 Aliona furrowed her brows.

”I definitely felt the sensation of my magic power being drained while we were doing it. It’s common for magic power to transfer during s*x, so I ignored it… But you were doing it on purpose.”

”Yeah. I guess it’s understandable if you think I hugged Ms. Aliona just for her magic power. I was able to defeat the griffin because I took magic power from Ms. Aliona.”

 ”Oh… is that so?”

”I think it’s only natural for you to feel uncomfortable. If you can’t forgive me, I won’t come here again. You can report me to the Adventurer’s Guild if you want.”

 ”Look up, Kian.”

Suddenly, the bed creaked as she sat down.

A gentle scent filled the air.

Aliona was sitting right next to him.

He had thought she was tall, but sitting next to her made it clear she was a delicate woman.

Maybe it was just her long legs, but she seemed to fit perfectly in Kian’s arms.

”What you did by taking magic power is not good. Using the draining technique can be considered violence, depending on the extent. And personally, I wish you had just told me you wanted my magic power. I can’t feel good about you taking it silently.”

 ”I’m sorry.”

”Did you use it on anyone else?”

 ”…Yeah.”

 ”Huh? You, used it?”

 ”Yeah.”

”Did you, use it on a girl from a brōtḥel? You paid her, right?”

”No. It was a girl serving at a tavern.”

 ”Did you force her?”

”Yeah. I think it was all agreed upon in the end. But I wasn’t serious, and she probably wasn’t either. We were just trying to satisfy our s*xual desires.”

 ”……Right.”

Aliona murmured like a fish blowing bubbles and downed her glass of wine in one go.

It felt like the air in the room suddenly turned cold.

”Yeah, you took magic power from other girls besides me.”

She stood up from the bed and started pacing around the room.

 ”Ms. Aliona, I──.”

 ”That’s enough. Just go home.”

 ”…! I’m sorry.”

As Kian hung his head, Aliona shook hers.

The blonde sister looked more confused than angry, almost as if she was surprised by herself.

She walked around the table, looking a bit irritated.

”I’m sorry. I can’t really control my emotions right now. For some reason… um, I’m sorry.”

”No, you have every right to be angry. I really…”

”──────. No, that’s not it. But can I have just a little time? I might not want to see your face for a while.”

 ”…….I’m sorry.”

”Leave through the window. I don’t want anyone to see you.”

 ”Okay.”

With her cold voice, he hurriedly got dressed.

Kian put on his coat and tucked his glasses into his pocket, then turned back to Aliona as he stepped onto the window frame.

She had her hands over her chest, looking at him with pleading eyes.

”Goodbye. I’ll leave the coin pouch.”

 ”…Oh, um, wait──.”

 Kian jumped out the window.

He landed gracefully on the ground and ran off toward the town.

(This is the worst. I made Ms. Aliona sad. I should’ve just accepted the meal without saying anything.)

’Looking at that girl, I do not think you were wrong at all.’

The glasses that had been quietly observing said that.

(There’s no way I didn’t make her angry.)

’You really do not understand a woman’s heart, do you?’

 (You think that’s not true?)

’Do not you get it? Good grief… You should visit her again in about 3 days.’

(But she said she doesn’t want to see my face anymore.)

’She said she doesn’t want to see your face for a while. Just go see her, as if you were tricked. Do not worry, that girl has already fallen for you.’

It was a mystery how they could say something like that, but it seemed that even the glasses agreed that they should leave Aliona alone for a while.

Kian loosened his pace and started walking down the farm road.

 (Ms. Aliona, I’m sorry…)
