Volume 1 Chapter 49 Quest:Obsidian To Roses IV

With that, ‘Leanan sídhe’ disappeared into the Roses’ Wall.
The series of adventures couldn’t be called a great success, but it ended successfully nonetheless.
Yes.
Everyone thought so.
Even Kian, who felt disappointed that the quest seemed to be failing, was relieved that the person they were protecting hadn’t ended up dead.
But that wasn’t how it went.
Suddenly, ‘Leanan sídhe’, standing in front of the Roses’ Wall, bent her body into a ‘C’ shape and began to suffer.
”Ugh, ahhh, ah, agh, gaaahhh!”
”‘Leanan sídhe’!”
Kian shook his head, stopping Robert, who instinctively rushed toward her.
”Something’s wrong. Get away!”
”Damn…”
”This is…!”
Serena covered her nose with her arm and stepped back.
Her light blue eyes were fixed on the black mist that was enveloping ‘Leanan sídhe’, making her figure disappear.
”Ms. Aliona!”
”Everyone, step back! Don’t touch that mist! It’s like a curse!”
Aliona shouted while shielding Esther.
There was no need for her to say that.
The mist surrounding ‘Leanan sídhe’ was clearly strange.
It was the same black mist she had been wrapped in when they first encountered her after dealing with the Funnelwing.
(What is that? That mist is not part of ‘Leanan sídhe’. It’s something else.)
’It’s a contract.’
’Glasses’ quietly stated.
’Or a curse. Kian, that thing is no longer susceptible to charm. If it gets dangerous, use them as bait to escape.’
”Ahh, ahhh, ah, gaaah, gaaah, gaaahhh!”
The screams of the evil spirit woman seemed to gradually lose their reason.
Along with that, her beastly nature seemed to be increasing.
”Ahhh, ah AAAAAAAAH!”
In the end, it was unmistakably a beast’s roar.
She bared her fangs and howled at the white moon hanging in the night sky.
Her slender body, dressed in a moss-colored dress, began to swell with cracking sounds, and the light of reason in her brown eyes turned blood-red.
Her height increased.
Taller than Kian, taller than Robert.
She transformed into a robust figure like the golems Aliona had created.
The fabric of her dress that covered her arms tore apart, exposing muscular arms with black veins bulging.
As she bared her fangs and let out a fierce roar, the black mist was drawn into her mouth.
”GAAAAAAAH!!!”
A roar that still held traces of a woman’s voice echoed through the Roses garden.
She sprouted claws nearly a meter long from her hands, spreading her arms wide as if exhilarated by the power surging from within.
”Is this… ‘Leanan sídhe’?”
Robert gritted his teeth and muttered.
Aliona narrowed her eyes.
”No, that’s a being known as a vampire. A powerful race that was supposed to be extinct…!”
”GARRRRRRR…”
The ‘Leanan sídhe,’ now with claws and fangs, drooled from her torn mouth and turned to face Kian and the others.
The hem of her moss-colored dress revealed muscular legs below her knees.
She opened her blood-red eyes wide.
A thick, stagnant magic power was released into the surroundings, and in response, several ghosts wrapped in black cloth crawled out from the darkness of the labyrinth.
”Night Wraiths!”
Kian shouted as he pushed Robert toward Aliona’s barrier.
”Be careful, their breath is highly toxic. They’re more troublesome than Rain Wraiths!”
”To control multiple Night Wraiths…”
Serena gritted her teeth and slowly backed away.
However──while it might have been possible for Kian and the others to retreat, the Pigfoot family was still there.
Aliona attempted to open a teleportation gate with her staff, but the spell seemed to dissipate in mid-air, scattering purple electricity through the space.
Suddenly, Kian and his companions found themselves swallowed up in a vast dueling space surrounded by the Wall of Roses.
It appeared that the area in front of the Wall of Roses already belonged to the vampire.
”Damn it, Kian, ‘Thorn’, what do you plan to do?”
”Ms. Aliona, Serena.”
Kian called out as he snatched the axe from Robert.
”You two, protect the Pigfoot father and daughter. I’ll handle the vampire.”
”No, it’s me who will deal with the vampire, Kian.”
Aliona said as she thrust her staff and spear into the ground, which were in the back of her holder.
Her barrier became even more concentrated.
”Robert, Ms. Esther, don’t ever come out from there!”
The High Elf Sister said, drawing out the last remaining weapon – a gigantic sword as tall as herself – from its sheath.
The beautiful silver-colored blade glistened in the moonlight.
The transformed vampire, ‘Leanan sídhe’, recoiled in fear before the shining sword.
”Kian you will handle the Night Wraith. I’ll subdue the vampire.”
Aliona said, winking at Kian.
”You fool! Do you intend to mimic the vanguard as a magician!”
Aliona left her voice as her figure disappeared.
She used a small-scale teleportation spell without a gate.
Looking forward, they saw Aliona’s longsword clashing with the vampire’s claws.
But the creature was as thick as Aliona’s torso.
”…!”
Aliona was being pushed back by the vampire’s strength.
Her clear magic power flared up.
Her slender arms trembled, and her back arched.
The High Elf Sister grimaced in pain.
”GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!”
The vampire let out a blood-curdling roar, pushing back against the sword with her right-hand claws while raising her left arm.
”…!”
Aliona jumped instinctively.
Teleportation.
Teleportation.
Teleportation…!.
The white robes of the Western Church fluttered in the dark night, and multiple silver slashes sparkled around the vampire.
The vampire’s claws clashed with Aliona’s magical weapon several times, sending orange sparks flying.
”Kian!”
Serena’s voice snapped him back to reality.
Ghosts in black robes were closing in, drawn toward Aliona’s barrier.
”……, …, …!”
Kian quickly gathered his magic power and readied his wooden sword in a proper stance.
(First, I need to deal with these guys…!)
