Volume 1 Chapter 50 The True Nature Of The Labyrinth
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The vampire’s monstrous silhouette, framed by the moon, was massive even in comparison to it.
Larger than a griffin, the beast spread its arms wide mid-air.
”Ooooooooohhhh!”
A sharp *crackling* noise echoed, like ice forming over something.
The air around the vampire distorted as it heated rapidly.
Behind it, countless glowing blue crystals of frozen air began to form.
Each was several dozen centimeters in size, gleaming eerily in the night sky like malevolent stars.
(So this is what using magic feels like…)
’It’s over!’
A sharp, telepathic shout flew out.
The spheres, like bullets, started spinning while catching the wind, all with pointed ends.
Probably, with Nightshade’s equipment, Kian would have been stung like a bee in a hive.
It was a gamble, but just as he was about to leap, a silver gust suddenly brushed past Kian’s side.
It was Serena.
She appeared in front of Kian, bent down using her momentum, and then kicked off the ground, leaping up in one go.
”――――!”
Aliona lent Serena a knife, which she swung in an arc.
Serena leaped more than ten meters and plunged the knife deep into the vampire’s right thigh.
The monster howled in pain.
The slender body of the girl swayed weakly in the air.
”Ugh…”
Serena narrowed her eyes and raised her white staff, aiming at the vampire’s right wing membrane.
A white flash erupted, and the gigantic wing, like that of a bat, was seared and torn apart, leaving a gaping hole.
A massive black arm swatted Serena from the side, knocking her to the ground.
Sharp claws gouged her sides, and Serena was flung to the ground as if swatting away an insect.
The silver wolf girl did not even scream.
”Ms, Serena!”
A scream echoed.
It was Aliona, covered in blood. She took out her pocket from her pocket and threw it towards the vampire staggering in the air.
”Explode!”
A valiant voice echoed.
Aliona’s right hand clenched, and the silver coins inside the wallet shattered and exploded.
The torn silver bullets turned the vampire’s body into a beehive.
’Aaaahhhhhh!’
All the air crystals floating in the night sky began to fall.
They shattered like glass as they hit the ground, reflecting the moonlight and shining.
”Ugh…”
Aliona watched as the vampire fell to the ground and then collapsed herself. She seemed to have finally lost consciousness.
By that time, Kian had already started running.
’You bastards! You filthy, inferior scum… My wings! You dare to destroy them!’
The vampire, having been hit by silver bullets, its weakness, seemed to have lost a significant amount of magic power.
Covered in mud and its own blood, it struggled to stand up, but its initial strength and speed were gone.
”Ugh…!”
Kian closed in on the vampire, channeling his magic power.
A white wind swirled around his axe.
This was his finishing move.
(Azrael! God of the highest heavens! Lend me your power now!)
He roared silently.
The exiled warrior monk flexed the muscles of his arm.
His dark eyes glistened, reflecting the moonlight.
His leap was a burst of speed.
He tore through the mud, kicking the vampire’s left leg as it tried to stand.
’…!’
”Haaaa!”
Kian raised his arm, aiming for the joint of the right arm, and unleashed a full-force ‘impact’ on the weapon, gouging out the flesh and bone with all his might.
He swung his axe, sending it flying, and with the momentum, he brought down the other arm with a powerful blow from the wrist.
’────’
”────”
The exchange of glances lasted only a brief moment.
A chaotic dance unfolded.
A dance of fury.
A dance of death.
Rapid, flowing strikes landed on the exposed face of the monster.
’F…hahaha!’
Despite being covered in blood, the monster’s taunting voice echoed in Kian’s mind.
Kian’s eyes burned with intense murderous intent.
’It’s futile! With your weak weapons, you cannot kill this immortal being! You’ve lost, damn you!’
”────! Oooohhh!”
Kian buried the axe deep into the monster’s throat, which had already been torn apart by the axe.
Blood gushed out, staining everything red.
The voice of ‘Glasses’ reached Kian’s ears.
’Eat it, Kian!’
”────”
Kian was exhilarated as he was showered with blood.
He threw the axe aside and used his hand to tear open the monster’s neck, which had already been slashed by the axe.
Blood gushed out like a waterfall as he severed the arteries inside.
He thrust his hand into the wound, and activated ‘Absorb Essence’.
’――――!? Ah, aaaaaaahhh!?’
A scream echoed.
Its massive body trembled.
Kian, with a sharp motion, tore the vampire’s head from its body.
Absorbing power from this monster was entirely different from draining it from others.
With every pull, Kian felt his body transforming.
His strength seemed to increase.
There was a refreshing sensation, as if he was evolving into something higher.
’You bastard… why…?’
His strength was clearly amplified, as though he had inherited the vampire’s abilities.
Kian grinned cruelly, his hand sinking deep into the vampire’s shoulder, claws sinking into the still-beating heart.
With a sickening tear, he ripped it out.
’――――, Co…’
The vampire’s severed head crumbled to dust on the ground.
Still, Kian continued to absorb the power from it, without hesitation.
’Could it be… ×××…?’
With a sickening *slurp*, the process continued.
The once-strong body of the vampire shriveled, its black fur turning to ash and scattering in the air.
The “glasses” whispered something, but Kian couldn’t focus on it.
”…”
The vampire let out a breath as if life was slipping away.
Its once-furry body collapsed, the strength draining completely.
*Thud*—the massive body turned to dust.
From within, a naked girl emerged, falling limply to the ground.
It wasn’t Leanan sídhe.
She had chestnut brown hair, smooth, healthy skin.
It was Sophia, the receptionist who had gone missing.
Lying in the mud and blood, she didn’t move, seemingly lifeless.
Kian pulled his arm back.
His “Nightshade” armor had transformed, and now his arm bulged like that of a beast.
He flexed his fingers, testing his newfound strength, and then let out a small burp, the air rising from his throat.
He had consumed the vampire—killed it.
The labyrinth of black roses was now eerily quiet under the moonlit sky.
