Volume 2 Chapter 10 The Debt Of Two-Timing I

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Ms. Aliona, thank you for letting me take the day off from work today.”

”Hehe, it’s fine. I thought you’d want to drink with everyone after the exam, right, Kian?”

 ”Y-Yes, of course.”

”Is there anything else you’d like to say?”

”…That white dress looks lovely on you. It suits your golden hair so well.”

 ”Oh, you’re such a charmer.”

 ”────”

”May I pass by? I’d like to sit in the seat behind you.”

 ”…Sure.”

 ”Thank you, you little flirt♡”

Aliona said with an elegant smile and walked past Kian.

Her large backside swayed within the white skirt.

A scent he had never smelled before hit him, making him dizzy.

Tonight, Aliona seemed so urban, from her appearance to her fragrance.

He couldn’t help but realize how different she was from the average town girl in every way.

”Well, then… But I thought we’d have more chances to talk after you safely returned from the ‘Labyrinth of Roses’.”

The elf sister was sitting so close.

Seated in the corner, surrounded by the desk and the wall, she casually leaned towards Kian, crossing her legs in her white skirt.

Resting her arm on her knee, she leaned forward slightly, accentuating the bountiful fruit of her flesh from the open neckline of her dress.

Kian couldn’t help but stare at her cleavage.

 ”Mr. Kian”

As a soft voice spoke up, Esther returned to the table with a bucket filled with mugs of ale, wine, and bottles of distilled spirits.

She set the drinks down gently on the table, her gaze shifting between Aliona’s beautiful outfit and My’s work clothes.

 ”Oh, I’ll have another ale.”

Serena said, grabbing a mug and taking a sip, completely oblivious to the situation.

Esther ignored Serena and kept her eyes fixed on Kian.

”Um, Mr. Kian, is it okay if I sit next to you?”

 ”Ah, yes, sure. Go ahead…”

 ”Three against one.”

Serena chimed in, raising her mug and revealing her blue eyes from across the table.

She was the only one left with a sense of propriety in the group.

”Two beautiful ladies by your side, Kian. Don’t you have anything to say?”

 ”Not really.”

”Mr. Kian, I’ve been wondering for a while now, what is your relationship with Ms. Aliona?”

”What kind of relationship, Esther…? She’s someone I’ve been trading herbs and poisons with since a long time ago.”

”Hehe, I see. It’s been a long time indeed… It’s possible that you’ve known her since you were a baby.”

Esther said, her green eyes meeting Aliona’s.

Aliona’s brown ponytail swayed as she let out an “Aww,” and leaned closer to Kian, perhaps unconsciously seeking comfort from the intimidating gaze of the elf sister.

The atmosphere in the room visibly worsened, and the cheerful laughter of the men in the distance seemed distant.

Kian’s table felt chilly, as if the temperature had dropped to below freezing, with an invisible emotion of irritation and hostility swirling around.

”Ha… ha ha. By the way, Serena, why did you tell Ms. Aliona about the drinking party today? No, I don’t mean any harm, Ms. Aliona. I was just curious, you know. Normally, the conversation would end with ‘I’ll take a leave from work because of the promotion exam’ and ‘Hmm’.”

Serena, who was stuffing her mouth with cake, raised her face.

”Just like that? It was just the flow of the conversation.”

”Damn… why did you do such an unnecessary thing…”

’Your voice is giving you away’

 ”By the way──”

Aliona started to speak while stirring her glass of clear distilled liquor.

The ice she created with magic was making a high-pitched sound inside the glass.

”It’s been ten days, Kian. The last time we met was for the sewing thread trade, and that was the last time we talked. Why didn’t you contact me at all?”

”…You must have heard about it from Serena, right?”

”Well, that’s quite cold of you, considering we live in the same town. Did you have enough magic power during that time?”

”Why are you asking about magic power?”

”Oh, are you going to make me say it?”

 ”Sorry.”

”Mr. Kian, I’ll pour you some wine.”

Esther whispered, leaning in just as close as Aliona.

Her tone seemed to say, ‘Don’t forget about me, okay?’

Kian trembled as he looked at the glass being filled with wine, as if he were about to gulp down a poison cup.

”Um, Mr. Kian? I don’t mind about the past. You’re cool, kind, and really strong… I know that a lot of beautiful women are drawn to you. But I would like to know how you really feel right now.”

”…Esther. It’s the same for me. Right now, I want to prioritize my career over starting a family or settling down. That’s why I took the promotion exam… I want to earn points again and aim for the intermediate-rank exam next. …Esther, you’re currently taking on some of Mr. Robert’s responsibilities, right? You said you wanted to grow the business instead of just keeping it running. This isn’t the time for romantic distractions. I want to support you.”

 ”Please don’t dodge the question.”

”That’s true. I want to know how Kian feels about both me and Ms. Esther while there’s still time.”

”I think both of you are important women. However… I still don’t have the capacity to accept either one.”

”So you’re going to continue to juggle both?”

”What do you mean by both, Mr. Kian?”

”It means exactly what it says. I want to take responsibility.”

”Thus, a 2-timer? Hey, it’s a 2-timer, isn’t it? Kian, since you don’t seem to understand, let me tell you, you’re standing at a crossroads in life right now. Well… if you get the answer to the question wrong, you might end up split in half like this cake.”

 ”N-No! That’s not okay!”

 Esther clung to him tightly.

 She held onto Kian protectively.

The scent of a girl’s sweat after a day’s work wafted through his nose.

Aliona maintained her smile and took a sip of the potato liquor.

”I’m just kidding. But depending on your answer, I’ll take my payment. I’ll make you pay for your past debts.”

 ”How much will it be?”

 ”Oh, it’s not money.”

Aliona said, taking a knife out of her pocket.

He thought he was going to be stabbed, but she didn’t draw it from its sheath; instead, she made a gesture as if to cut the tips of Kian’s hair.

”I just want to take a little… maybe some of Kian’s hair or nails.”

”What do you plan to do with the hair you cut from me?”

Just as Kian turned pale, unexpected help came from an unlikely source.

It was Serena, who was sipping her ale across from them.

”In other words, you’re both Kian’s female partners, right?”

Esther looked down at Kian in her arms.

”F-Female…!? Ms. Serena, what are you…?”

”Kian and I are equal partners. Right?”

Aliona whispered as she took Kian back from Esther’s arms.

The scent was so good that it tickled his nostrils, almost making him reminisce about his mother.

When Serena rested her elbows on the table, her light blue eyes blinked.

”See, I told you. Both of you are breathing heavily when your secrets are exposed.”

 ”…”

 ”────”

”A strong male would naturally attract multiple females.”

Serena placed her mug down and stared at Kian.

 She continued.

”I think the problem is Kian’s financial stability and social status. He still doesn’t have the means to attract three… oh? Two, I see. He needs a little more time to gain the strength to support even 2. If it comes to competing for partners, that can happen later. Actually, if the females serve the same male, instead of fighting, they should cooperate and support the family.”

”That may be the case in Ms. Serena’s tribe, but as an elf, I’d prefer if there was just one partner.”

”I would also prefer just one, if possible…”

”As a man, I want to take responsibility for everyone. In my country, there’s something called a harem, where I can love my wives gathered together. Of course, I won’t treat them like birds in a cage. I wish for both their happiness and promise them freedom. But… before that, as Serena said, I need to rise in status and acquire a house, land, and money. If I were to get involved with anyone now, I’d just end up being a freeloader, right?”

 ”Or a stuffed animal.”
