Volume 2 Chapter 16 Moonlight That Pierces Dragon Scales II

Then, when his body is defenseless, he thrusts his spear into his heart.

(Actually, this guy has been doing that move many times now. If I use another attack that can be easily deflected with his shield, he should take advantage.)

Kian narrowed his eyes, and in his mind’s eye, he envisioned the upcoming movements of himself and his opponent.

He saw himself leaping straight towards the man, who would counter with a shield block, and Kian’s vertical slash would be met by the man’s shield, almost as if he was asking to be defended.

Then, Kian would slip through the shield block and slide under the big man’s feet, delivering an upward slash to his exposed torso.

By crouching under his feet, he would avoid the counter spear attack, which would pass harmlessly overhead.

(Feint to slip through the dragon-scale shield, but don’t let him notice until the last moment.)

If the man realized Kian’s intention, he would simply stop the shield block and jump back again.

That would prolong the fight, and if the man observed all of Kian’s basic sword techniques, he would learn and adapt, putting Kian at a disadvantage due to his inferior weaponry.

 (Decide on the next exchange.)

Kian pursed his lips and focused his cultivated energy (ki) into his hind legs.

Then, like an arrow released from a bow, he sprang forward.

 ”──────”

 It was a miraculous strike──

 An ancient genius,

 or perhaps the god Azrael,

A final blow conceived at the end of a stick-wielding frenzy.

Kian, who had never witnessed the ‘Secret Sword’ before, thought that the strike he used was one of the 7 ultimate techniques known as ‘Secret Sword’ in Azrael’s Dance Swordsmanship.

 ”────!”

The giant knight’s eyes, peeking out from behind his large shield, widened in surprise.

Kian appeared above Renaud’s head, leaving a trail of black fog in the blue sky.

 ”Haaah!”

 ”What the… Oaaah!”

As Kian slashed down from above, the giant reacted swiftly, thrusting his shield upwards.

 ”──!”

Kian deftly twisted his body during the Leap, avoiding the shield that was pushed up as if carried on the giant’s left shoulder.

 ”────!”

 ”What?” The giant’s mustache twitched.

He had been about to counterattack with his spear, thrusting it upwards.

The spearhead grazed Kian’s cheek, barely avoiding the shield, and sprayed blood.

 But the wound was shallow.

 Kian’s movement didn’t stop.

 ”────”

 Kian’s black eyes narrowed.

He crouched down, as low as possible, at the giant’s feet.

The wooden sword, despite not being made of iron, made a sharp sound, “kin!”

 ”Ugh!”

Now, Kian’s swift upward slash from below the giant’s legs cut through his groin, striking the bell.

The giant’s massive body wobbled as the vital area was struck with force.

 ”Nooo! Aaaaah!”

The spear, which had been thrust upwards, was knocked down.

Kian caught it with his left hand.

 ”Hmph…”

Using the spear as support, Kian lifted his body.

Bending his body like a spring, he pulled his knees to his chest in midair.

Then, he delivered a powerful kick with both feet to the center of the man’s hard chest plate.

 ”……!”

Leaving behind the sound of the chest plate caving in, the silver heavy armor distorted.

The man’s massive body lifted slightly off the ground.

The large shield and short spear flew from Renault’s hands, and he himself was blown away sideways.

It was a blow infused with a massive amount of magic power given by Aliona and the others.

Any ordinary knight would have had their chest shattered by that kick.

Renault’s airborne body danced back several meters and crashed into an embedded wooden fence, kicking up thick golden dust.

A murmur arose once again from the surrounding knights.

Just how many among them could accurately understand the exchange of blows in this fleeting moment?

Kian landed skillfully on the ground, swinging his wooden sword like he was splattering blood before standing up.

(I put in too much strength. He might be dead.)

 ’…! No, not yet, Kian!’

 (What…?)

’Be careful! I had a suspicion that something was off, but he is not human!’

 ”────!?”

Before the word ‘glasses’ could finish, a wooden log flew at him like a throwing spear from the dust.

Although he barely dodged it using ‘Leap’, Kian was astonished when he saw the log embedded in the ground with a loud thud.

(Is this the wooden fence surrounding the arena!?)

However, the fence was made from a massive log that had been cut down from a nearby giant tree.

Not only ordinary humans, but even powerful Beastmen wouldn’t be able to throw it back like a spear for tossing.

 ”What on earth is”

Before Kian, who opened his eyes wide, a massive shadow emerged from the dust.

 Bang──.

The large man’s arm slammed into the sandy ground.

It was a hand larger than that of an ordinary human.

It produced a terrifying sound as it rapidly expanded.

Red-brown scales sprouted on the surface of the skin, while the fingertips elongated, turned black, and became sharp.

 ”Graaaahh!”

Renaud’s howl echoed from the sand.

White, copious saliva splattered, and a nearly meter-long red tongue whipped out.

Yellow reptilian eyes lit up in the sand, and a pointed snout reminiscent of a lizard emerged from the sand’s haze.

 A gigantic red dragon──.

Wings that fused with its arms.

 Poisonous spines on its back.

 A long, robust tail.

A shriek rose among the knights.

 ”……!”

In front of Kian, who widened his eyes, the red dragon opened its bright-red jaws.

 VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE────!!!!

 ”Ugh…!”

 The air trembled.

The heat in the arena rose in an instant.

’You sly boy! I’ll crush you!’

The dragon roared in Renaud’s voice.

He stretched out his strong front legs towards Kian.

 ”Ugh…!”

He didn’t understand what had happened.

In the first place, he didn’t even know what that was.

 However──.

Kian activated ‘Leap’ faster than he could think.

However, as if to block the escape route, a tail with red thorns swung sideways.

 ’Kian!’

 (It’s okay!)

He twisted his body and jumped.

However, the thorns of the tail grazed his shoulder, and blood spurted out.

An intense pain struck his right arm.

The thorn might have been poisoned.
