Volume 2 Chapter 25 Quest: Azrael’s Pursuer II
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
’Impact’…a basic skill to enhance weapons. It increases power through hardness, speed, and other factors. By transferring energy at the moment of ‘impact’, it creates the illusion of added weight.
’Break’…Application of the impact. It destroys the weapons that clash. Depending on the target, it may fail to break and result in a failure.
’Pierce’…Application of the impact. When weapons clash, it ignores the opponent’s armor or scales and directly inflicts damage to the inside.
With the ‘glasses’ on, Kian felt like his thoughts sharpened, and his ability to recognize the surroundings significantly improved.
He has been a long time since he wore him during the day.
This refreshing feeling.
This sense of omnipotence.
Indeed, he becomes addictive like a drug.
While taking a defensive stance and standing up, Kian’s black eyes were darting left and right.
In a single leap, he grasped the layout of the familiar street market and the positions of the attackers.
(A ten-meter-wide passage of the street market. The gate is about 2 hundred meters behind.)
Jumping backwards, he swung the wooden sword from side to side.
A high sound echoed as a large black needle was knocked down.
(A total of 8 figures on the ceiling of the tents lined up on the left and right. On the ground, there are 3 pursuers, including an fat man. They approach while drawing their swords and kicking away the spice shop.)
There is no guard post near the street in the west of the East End.
The closest one is in the heart of the central street where the adventurer’s guild is.
There are always people there, and they do their jobs relatively diligently.
”Run! Quickly!”
”Christy!”
”Yes! Let’s hurry up and get the teleportation gate to a place where it’s safe to open──”
Kian struck the leg of the fruit seller’s shelf on the right side with his wooden sword.
Citrus fruits from the south rolled on the ground, blocking the path of the 3 pursuers on the ground.
”Chase dem! Surround dem!”
The fat man yells in Azrael.
To someone who lacks knowledge of the words, it produces an intimidatingly strong sound pressure.
Christy’s face, which had been looking back, turned pale.
”Exit through the gate over there, and cut through the West Street. Once you enter Central Street, run towards the heart of the town. Rush to the guard’s outpost.”
Kian said as he persistently thrown black needles.
As one was being knocked down, a buzzing insect appeared in the sky, making an annoying sound.
(It’s Azrael’s Insect Master…! Where are they!?)
’Infuse a small amount of magic power into this one. This one will emphasize the magic power path connected to the insects in red.’
There was no time to think.
As Kian stepped back a moment behind Christy and the others, he infused magic power into the ‘glasses.’
(I can see it)
In the depths of the market street.
A pale-faced man with a white turban was hiding behind a yellow tent.
He had a pipe in his mouth, infrequently exhaling smoke containing a special drug through his nose.
Now, His insects were closing in.
Kian had to kill the caster, but the escape direction was opposite to the market street tents.
He couldn’t leave Maribel and the others to go kill the insect wielder.
For now, he had to go on the defensive and just run.
”……”
Kian’s eyes twisted as he checked the positions of the people who were chasing them, flying skillfully over the cloth tents on either side.
(That’s a nasty move. He keeps his distance and pokes at me. I’m a close-combat warrior with an escort, so I can’t fight back and I’ll just be strangled to death.)
The people who had been moving around the tent like monkeys now tucked their knees in to their chests and started to fly through the air.
Men dressed in assassin’s gear landed in front of Maribel and the others, black cloth fluttering in the wind.
The man in front has a barrel of blast bullets on fire.
It’s a small one that Kian also uses.
”Get down!”
He hugs Maribel and Christy and runs into them.
He can’t adjust it.
He and the girls rush into the vegetable shelves.
”────────”
”Kyaaaah!?”
A blast went off, louder than Christy’s scream.
White dust scattered along with the rag, hitting Kian’s back, which shielded the two girls, like wooden pieces from the shelves.
”…!”
With a strong effort, he pulled the two girls down to the ground even further.
Then, in a single leap, he forcefully shoved Christy, who was covered in mud, away.
”Kyaaan!”
”Run!”
”Uraaaa!”
”…!”
Breaking through the blast wind, the fat Azraelian appeared.
In his thick arms, he gripped an enormous curved sword.
”──!”
He twisted his body.
The blade of the curved sword was right on the ground beside him.
But Kian put all his strength into his stomach and struck the man’s right shin with all his might.
A deep, ragged scream echoed.
Kian used the momentum to kick off the ground, standing up with both feet in the air.
(Crow…!)
He commanded the waiting crows to attack the men blocking Maribel and the others’ path.
The men began to scream and react to the crows that were swooping in to gouge out their eyeballs.
Thanks to that, by the time the two girls crawled out from under the remains of the stall, a narrow but direct path to the gate had opened up.
Screams echoed.
Screams filled the air.
Screams shattered the silence.
The people at the street finally realize that something rebellious has happened, and begin to run amok.
The screams and confusion of the people nicely obscured the small, thin bodies of Maribel and the others.
The two slip through the crowd, and their pursuers lose sight of them temporarily due to the interference of the crows.
”Shh…!”
But they can’t take a break.
Two land pursuers appeared behind the fat man, who had lost his balance spectacularly.
They each held a twisted, sinister dagger in their hands.
Kian immediately judged that they were poisoned, and showed his back to them. He then skillfully cut off the two blades with the front of the magic sword he was carrying.
”What…”
”What?!”
”Phew”
Swoosh.
After that, Kian pulls the knot of the white cloth that was wrapping the magic sword.
The strip of cloth that bound the Windsong Blade swayed fascinatingly around Kian’s body, like a dancer’s lace.
As Kian kicked one of the two men, he spun in the air like an acrobat, while the other rolled on the ground, throwing a dagger at the same time.
Using a white cloth as a shield, Kian stopped the dagger, then dodged the incoming dagger from a masked man swinging down from above.
It was a quick leap to the right to evade.
The man’s dagger sliced through the air without hitting anything, while Kian wrapped the white cloth around his arm.
”Ugh!”
A scream was emitted by the man.
Kian tightened the cloth.
The assassin’s arms were constricted at the elbows, twisting in the process.
Then, Kian slammed his arm onto a vegetable vendor’s stand.
”Ah!”
The man’s eyes widened.
His arm was thrown under a guillotine-like device meant for chopping vegetables.
He would not betray his expectations.
With ‘Shot,’ he sent his energy flying, and with ‘Impact,’ he reinforced the blade of the chopping device.
Kian struck down with his heel, making the blade fall and literally sliced off the man’s hand at the wrist.
”Aagyaaah!?”
”Abdul!”
Another dagger man shouted loudly and lunged at him.
He was kicked in the side and rolled away, but from the ground, Kian spotted a stall showcasing poisonous snakes.
(Come at him)
Clink──.
He activated the vampire’s charming magical gaze.
The poisonous snake with the dagger man’s swollen neck twisted his body and moved away from his knees.
”Oh no, it’s a snake!” “It’s a poisonous snake! It’s at my feet!” “Ah…”
”Oh noooooo!”
With terrifying expressions on their faces, the fat man who had recovered and another man who was unarmed approached.
Kian turned around, grabbed a poisonous snake crawling on the ground, and threw it at their necks, immobilizing them.
The snake appears to have bitten the fat man on the neck, causing him to let out a terrible scream that seemed to kill him.
”Rascheed?! Ugh!”
Of course, Kian has no intention of letting any of the remaining ones live.
So, he threw his wooden sword and shot him with energy right in the eye, killing him.
Screams rise from all over the street as brain matter splatters.
At the same time, Kian slipped through the men fighting the crow and followed the two girls who were leaving the street and heading out onto the western street.
* * *
”Christy, can’t you make the teleportation gate yet!?”
”Stop saying such ridiculous things!”
Breathless, the black-haired magician weaved through the crowd on the western street.
Right behind her, Maribel’s small body was closely following.
(It seems like it’s impossible if we don’t stop after all)
’If you activate it carelessly, your head and neck might end up teleporting to separate places…’
