Volume 2 Chapter 37 Invitation To Izerland Fortress III

 ”Is your eyesight bad?”

In the bumpy carriage, Christy, who was sitting across from him, asked that question.

Kian, who was lounging back in a fancy red chair with a smile on his face, quickly responded.

”No, these are just fancy ‘glasses’.”

”So, they don’t have any prescription in them?”

”Right. So even without the ‘glasses’, I could see your beautiful face, Ms. Christy.”

 ”Huh?”

”Oh, are you confused? I’m just stating the truth.”

Like water flowing smoothly on a board.

Kian said this without feeling shy at all.

Across from him, Christy squinted her eyes with a mole under them, looking at Kian like he was suspicious.

”What’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”

”I noticed that, Ms. Christy, you usually call me ‘you (anata)’, but when you get emotional, you call me ‘you (anta)’.”

 ”What does that matter?”

”I just wish you would start calling me by my name.”

”I forgot your stupid name. Sorry.”

”So, let me once again deeply engrave this in my heart. Kian. I’m Kian. Please call me Kian.”

”Why did you repeat that so many times?”

”So that Ms. Christy can always remember my face and name before she goes to bed and falls asleep”

”…You’re a bit creepy, but you guy…. your way of speaking have become strangely sticky”

Christy’s heartless words explode, but unfortunately, when Kian is wearing ‘glasses’, he is a pervert with a mind stronger than steel──or rather, a monster.

The warrior monk of Azrael chuckled and leaned back in his chair, taking a dignified and polite stance as he stared intently at Christy’s ample chest.

”By the way, I have a favor to ask of Ms. Christy.”

 ”What?”

”Actually, I’m looking for clothes for my party members. Is there anywhere in the fortress that’s good?”

By the way, the carriage had already left the hilly area and passed the checkpoint at the drawbridge.

When they passed through the checkpoint, they gave the pass that Maribel had given them to the driver, so they didn’t have to pay the city gate fee.

Since they were in a fancy carriage for nobles (the family crest was hidden, but the carriage belonged to the Margrave family), they didn’t even need to show their faces.

They couldn’t help but think about the power of the nobles.

There is always a difference in how common people and nobles are treated wherever they go.

 Christy frowned.

”Well…, I know a little, but I don’t have to take you to Izerland Fortress.”

”But didn’t I help you from the assassin the other day?”

 ”Ugh.”

”Even though Ms. Christy is a magician, don’t you know about the principle of equivalent exchange?”

”I know! It’s important in contracts with demons and spirits!”

”So, does that mean you can ignore the rules because I’m human?”

 ”────”

Christy swallowed her words as if she was being choked.

 But eventually, she nodded reluctantly.

 ”Alright, I suppose I can go along…”

”Aren’t you going to attend the ceremony?”

”That’s fine. I was just going to watch from outside anyway. I can just pop in a little later.”

”Will your boss not say anything?”

”Hey, if you’re worried about that, don’t ask me for directions”

”I’m sorry. I think it’s best to be back in time for the dinner party.”

 ”…seriously.”

Christy folded her arms in disgust.

Her ample chest is emphasized through her blue dress.

”I don’t mind being a little late. It’s a social event that has nothing to do with me anyway. …I don’t have anyone to talk to, so it’s boring.”

 ”……”

Kian put on a big smile and pretended not to have heard Christy’s last comment.

’She is not the kind of girl who can even smile politely…. So dinner parties are probably boring.’

(I don’t know much about the knighting in this country, but surely there will be some notable people at the banquet? If she’s a female magician, she should take this opportunity to spit on the men.)

Kian asked Christy, hiding his true feelings.

”Ms. Christy, you became a magician because you didn’t want to be forced to marry for your family’s sake?”

”Yes, but how did you know?”

”I just know someone similar. That person graduated from the royal academy and worked as a receptionist at an adventurer’s guild.”

”A receptionist from the academy in the countryside… I know those kinds. They play a lot with friends and talk about youth.”

(I think learning how to get along with others is very important.)

’That is true. The connections you can make at the royal academy are very important.’

When Kian was at the monastery, he was not a very cheerful person and belonged to the ‘shadows’ side.

The Azrael Church was serious and strict, so most people spent their time training and studying. Kian’s dark character did not stand out in the monastery.

 ──”Play hard and learn well.”

It’s basic, but it’s very important.

Of course, it’s not wrong to stay in one’s own world and focus on self-improvement.

Some of those ‘shadow people’ can even grow into geniuses.

”Her Excellency mentioned before that Ms. Christy is an expert in potions, right?”

”Yes. It’s my specialty. I graduated from the potion department.”

”You graduated at the top of the potion department. Your family must be proud.”

”At least it seems my father not planning on bringing me back and using me for a political marriage.”

”Your parents aren’t very happy about that?”

”…my father…was happy on the surface. My mother doesn’t even know what I’m doing.”

”It seems like there’s something going on. It seems like it’s something I shouldn’t delve too deeply into.”

”Nothing. They have nothing to do with me anymore. …Manon hired me and needs me. So, before I’m a member of the Famille, I’m a magician from Margrave Ireland.”

”Her Excellency Maribel is a special person to you”

”Well, she’s my employer, you know?”

”From your words, I could feel that there was something more.”

Maybe, for this black-haired magician, Maribel is the first friend she has made, someone who accepts and needs her.

So, even while complaining, he thought she would follow along.

”Do you care about this, really?”

”It’s hard to answer that when you say it so strongly. I just want to know about Ms. Christy.”

”What do you want to know about me…?”

”In this faraway place, Ms. Christy stands out. You have a city-like scent about you.”

”I’m originally from the city, so it makes sense.”

Kian smiled softly, showing his white teeth.

”In short, I admire you. Anyone would stop and stare at a beautiful shining gem, right? Ignoring it and just walking by would be rude to the gem.”

”…Hey, can you please stop? Calling me beautiful and comparing me to a gem. Aren’t you embarrassed saying that?”

”Oh… Are you not used to getting kindness from others?”

”W-What!? You mean, you like me!? Not in a sexual way, right!?”

”I don’t go as far as romantic feelings. Just as human emotions can’t be divided into black and white, I’m talking about something in between…”

”I mean, what do you think of me?”

”You’re a beautiful person. You’re a proud and intelligent woman. I can say that I have only positive feelings for you. You’re a very nice person to me.”

 ”……. uh…, right…”

Christy hunched her shoulders in response to Kian’s (seemingly) genuine smile.

She looks a little uncomfortable with her cheeks flushed.

I see, this is very useful for Maribel.

Kian was still smiling beautifully, but in his heart he was licking his lips at the sight of this exquisite female.
