 - Summary of the protagonists’ deductions (these are only their thoughts and may not reflect the truth).

Feel free to skip this section if it’s unnecessary!

 1. It seems there are 3 individuals (or 3 organizations?) using the title ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User.’

The first is the title ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’ given to Azrael’s Twelve Divine Generals.

The second is the international crime organization known as ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User.’

The third is the group of criminals that assaulted Maribel (also referred to as the Margrave, Princess, Her Excellency, or Manon) in the street market.

They refer to themselves as ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’ (the second group mentioned), but they are likely imitators.

They were ambushed by Kian, and one of their members has been captured and is being interrogated.

 2. The criminals dismembered and murdered the brōtḥel owner from the East.

The deceased owner seems to have been associated with the third ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’ group.

The word ‘fake’ was left at the scene in blood.

Suspects include a bald knight noble named Waterman, who holds sway over the local police in the remote area.

Also included is the aforementioned second ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User.’

 - In response to this incident, the third group of ‘Azrael’s Death Sword Users’ concluded that their comrade had been assassinated in retaliation for the attempt on Maribel’s life.

In retaliation, they have threatened to carry out a terrorist attack on the upcoming succession ceremony of the ‘Knights of the Sun.’

 - Steward McCutchen seems to want to keep the incident secret.

However, Oswald, the master of ceremonies, knows about the incident and has a strong distrust for McCutchen, who is trying to conceal the information.

 - Maribel sent Kian and the others to the scene to make sure that the steward, McCutchen, had not killed the Eastern shopkeeper, who was a member of the assassin’s gang, on his own initiative.

After reporting to Maribel, Christy returned home and found a man in a black coat waiting silently in front of the garden gargoyle.

 It’s Kian.

He was the adventurer she spent the day with.

They ended up together after a flow of events following a traumatic experience.

However, it was simply his persistence that led her to agree; she didn’t actually like him.

Her body was worn out from the grueling 20-hour ordeal.

But her heart hasn’t fallen yet──.

That’s why Christy treats Kian coldly.

”Why were you waiting outside? You stand out, so just stop.”

”If I didn’t mind breaking the gargoyle, I would have walked right through.”

 ”Ah…”

”If possible, I want to be allowed to pass through here unconditionally.”

”No! If you did that, you’d just plan to stay at my house even after Manon’s Quest is over, right!?”

”Prices are high inside the fortress, so I plan to return to the East End once I’ve finished my business. I’ve booked an inn there, and my party members are waiting for me.”

”What, you had a party member with that personality!?”

”Yes. We’re currently acting separately, but I’ve applied to join the Guild. By completing today’s quest, I’m sure my friends will also receive the contribution points.”

 ”Oh… that’s right”

She was shocked because she thought he was a fellow loner.

(But this guy is actually good at conversing with people)

And he seems to be an incredibly talented adventurer.

Well, it seems there are people who want to form a party with him.

”What should we have for dinner? I can’t just buy something to eat on my way back from a visit to the morgue or murder scene.”

 ”Make it your own”

”Hmm. Well, you don’t look like you can cook.”

She know it’s none of her business, but the unpleasant smell she smelled in the warehouse earlier was still in her nose.

She’d rather him to take a bath than chat in the garden like this. Christy ignored what he said and walked past the gargoyle.

 ”Hey.”

”I know. …Yes, I’ve reconfigured the gargoyle so it won’t attack you.”

 ”Thanks.”

”Feel free to use the water area. You have soap, don’t you?”

”Yeah, I just got it from a magician I know.”

”Then cleanse yourself before coming inside. Got it?”

 ”Of course, my princess.”

 ”Wha──Who’s a princess?”

 Feeling embarrassed, she replied shyly.

 (This guy, he’s really something.)

Christy blushed as she opened the door to her home.

* * *

When it comes to magicians and alchemists, basements come to mind.

Using magic to dig tunnels, they expand small rooms for research and relaxation beneath their homes like catacombs.

And it becomes their personal underground empire──.

For Christy, the design theme of her basement was ‘Botanical Garden.’

She brought in rare moss and parasitic plants, cultivating them with rich water.

What started as a hobby in herb cultivation became serious once she began creating clay golems.

Lighting equipment such as lamps and fireplaces were brought in, and an air hole was connected to the ground to allow smoke to escape.

Christy’s secret underground empire is about ten times the size of her house.

After passing through the herb cultivation area, there is a bath area where parasitic plants such as orchids are planted.

It is a proud space where she can soak in hot water surrounded by the sweet scent of flowers.

If her boss scolds her or something bad happens during work, she often spend the whole night here.

She always take a bath when she get home, so it’s a space she use almost every day.

Further back is the study space where various books that were copied and brought from the academy are kept.

But she doesn’t has much time to devote to her research, so she hasn’t used it much for now.

She only went in occasionally to clean up.

The training space is located parallel to both the study and the bathroom, and is connected to both.

It was a jungle gym made from wood and ivy, but it hadn’t been used even once so far.

 ”Phew…”

After parting ways with Kian, she went into the basement alone, and passed through the gate into the botanical garden.

After passing through the herb garden, she entered a lush green area where orchids were blooming.

There is a covered facility at the back that looks like it might be used as a rest area in a park.

Under the red roof, there was a black round bath tub.

She had originally wanted to build a marble bathhouse, but she gave up when the costs turned out to be higher than expected.

(Even with this size, it feels wonderfully luxurious.)

Christy turned on the shower faucet at the side.

 Splash, splash, splash.

The water level in the tub, large enough for 3 adults, slowly began to rise.

Once it reached about halfway, she brought the water to a boil with a magic.

Next, she would add more water to adjust the temperature.

 ”Hmm, hmm, hmm…”

Her previously rigid expression softened due to her connection with the outside world.

As Christy hummed a popular song from the royal capital, she gathered herbs to float in the bath.

She lightly rinsed them and tossed them into the tub.

Today was a day for dill and chamomile.

 (Ah, this is so calming.)

Inhaling the aromatic steam rising from the tub filled her with joy.

Christy, feeling cheerful, began to undress in the changing area.

 ”Alright… here goes.”

The clothes she had worn throughout the day had a slight sweat smell.

Her underwear had traces of arousal and carried a bit of an odor.

She hurriedly handed them to the golem, issuing a clear order: “Wash these.”

After collecting the dirty clothes, she watched the clay doll disappear into the stream, then quickly tied up her black hair with a rubber band.

Wrapping a towel around her body, she sat beside the bath heater, waiting patiently for the water to rise to the brim.

When the water temperature was comfortable, she removed the bath towel and detached the shower head from its fixture.

After washing off the dirt, Christy climbs the steps into the bath, where the scent of herbs wafts from the air.

She got into the bathtub and was up to her shoulders in the water.

 ”Uh…, oh…”

Christy let out a voice like an old man and put the back of her head against the bathtub heater.

She never did it at home because the servants were always around, but since she came here and started taking baths by herself, she’s free to do so.

Sometimes she would bring alcohol and drink heavily.

 (My body is melting…)

She turned her flushed cheeks away from the warm water, gazing up at the dark ceiling above.

”My own private sanctuary. …the best…”

When she muttered that with a happy face──.

”Wow, this is a pretty nice underground botanical garden”

 ”────!?”

Suddenly, a man’s voice rang out and Christy sat up with a bang.

 ”Kukuku, hey, Christina.”

 The infamous brown-skinned perverted monk──Kian.

The impudent roommate was somehow nude.

Displaying his muscular body without shame, he approached with his groin thrust forward as if to say, “Look at me.”

 ”W-what, hey…!? Y-you, the barrier…”

”Barrier? Oh, I tampered with the key stone while cleaning this morning. Thanks to that, I slipped through without forcefully breaking it.”
