Rising Monk V2c50

Volume 2 Chapter 50 Quest: The Mirror That Sucks Magic I

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Kian can’t remember the last time he had breakfast with someone.

He had breakfast a few times at Aliona’s place, but she only sat with him; she never ate together.

According to church customs, they eat bread only after the morning prayer, which is close to noon.

So, it was quite awkward for Kian to eat alone while she just watched.

In that regard, Christy eats with him and has a considerably large portion for a woman, so he can enjoy his meal without hesitation.

 ”…What?”

”Oh, I was just wondering how my food tastes.”

As the morning sun streamed through the window, he observed Christy’s expression across the table.

Having just woken up, her black hair was a bit messy, sticking out like feathers.

She looked down at her half-empty round wooden plate.

It contained a chilled chicken salad with croutons, chicken thighs, cucumbers, and dried onions.

Sprinkled on top was a powdery white cheese, resembling snow.

”…It’s annoying, but it’s delicious. What’s this grainy stuff?”

”That’s pine nuts. The dressing includes salt and pepper, ginger, raisins, honey, red wine and red wine vinegar, olive oil, celery seed, and coriander leaves. It’s something that’s been sitting in your pantry for ages.”

”Did you use it without permission?”

”I asked if I could use it and you said yes. You were still wrapped up in your futon though.”

 ”…….I might have said”

”You’re cute even when you’re a late riser, Christina”

 ”~~~~~. If… I carry on like this, I’ll become a useless person.”

Christy muttered this to herself and added a spoon to the bean soup next to the cold Sarah.

These are elven-style dishes that he stole from Aliona, but she eats them without complaint.

It seems that the young lady was pleased with the breakfast.

Kian took his attention off her and started concentrating on his meal.

But in his head, he was planning his day.

(First, I need to find the ancient equipment. I can’t remove my ‘glasses’ until I do, so I want to find it quickly. Luckily, there’s a quest from Maribel, and the investigation location almost matches the hiding spot for the ancient equipment.)

He suspect that the recent sudden earthquakes hitting her manor are caused by the ancient equipment.

Finding equipment in the Margrave’s underground that is causing earthquakes gives him a bad feeling, but at this point, he has no choice but to go for it.

(I’m also curious about why the wraiths couldn’t touch it.)

’What will you do about the reward for the investigation quest regarding yesterday’s murder?’

(Right, I need to head to the Adventurers’ Guild in the fortress to collect the reward and contribution points.)

He could wait until he return to East End to collect, but he still have multiple unfinished tasks in the fortress.

Considering the potential extra costs for familiar’s clothing exceeding his budget, it’s better to go and collect the reward.

(I haven’t received an invitation from Oswald, but Aisha mentioned to come to the manor. If I have time, I should also exchange the ancient currency.)

”Hey, what will you do today? I can’t go out until my suspension is lifted, so I’m stuck in the underground.”

”…First, I’ll go to the Adventurers’ Guild in the fortress. After receiving yesterday’s reward, I’ll take on a personal request to investigate the underground of Her Excellency’s manor──maybe.”

 ”I see. That’s unexpected.”

”I’m an adventurer. I think it’s normal to put effort into clearing quests.”

Kian raised one eyebrow, and Christy fidgeted and lowered her eyes.

Her cheeks are a little red.

”No… How should I put it, you’re a sexual beast like a monkey. So, I was wondering if you’d do something naughty to me today.”

 ”Do you want me to?”

”I don’t want it! I was just expecting it to happen.”

”Even if you don’t want to get too close, I’ll still love you when I come home at night”

”…Um, well, if you feel like it. I don’t want you to ask me for s*x like a Beastmen in heat, so please be considerate!”

What does moderation in s*x mean?

Isn’t s*x about indulging in desires?

’That’s called slow s*x, right? If you get the chance, should you try it with this one?’

”Do you have an opening for me to insert my p**is?”

”Huh!? W-What are you saying all of a sudden? …Are you asking if I have a fresh hole? I feel like you’ve already used up everything except for my ear after yesterday.”

 ”Sorry, I misspoke.”

”W-What did you get wrong? You’re really a beast.”

Despite saying that, the black-haired witch was rubbing her knees under the table.

It seems that once you experience the joy of s*x, both men and women turn into monkeys for a while.

Even yesterday, things were pretty lively toward the end, and after coming back, they went for round 2 and 3, staying up late.

(Speaking of which, Esther and Ms. Aliona have also become quite lewd. It seems Serena is the only one holding out. I jokingly told ‘glasses’ that my d*ck is the magic sword of dicks, but it might really be the strongest.)

But without settling for this, he should aim for even greater heights.

It’s unlikely that having a strong d*ck would cause any trouble.

Kian was seriously considering adding d*ck training after his usual muscle workouts.

* * *

Christy tells him the location of the Adventurer’s Guild in Izerland Fortress, and he walks through the white street with its uneven ground.

The height above mean sea level is about the same as the Eastern town he visited the other day.

He walked along the narrow side street and eventually came to a big street that seemed to be about twice as big as the central street in the East End.

The area is lined with stores affiliated with various chambers of commerce, and the people passing through are of various races and occupations.

Far ahead on the right hand side of the busy street, he can see the huge Coliseum.

(The Coliseum is the landmark. If I walk towards it, I will arrive at the second heart of the Izerland Fortress.)

’The Adventurer’s Guild stands alongside other buildings such as the Chamber of Commerce Guild, huh? I see, this huge street is for adventurers to transport large items.’

It seems to also be used for large-scale parades and such.

As expected of the number one city in the frontier.

(The appearance of adventurer guilds should be quite uniform nationwide. A grand building primarily in white and gold, with the guild’s emblem displayed prominently on the flags.)

He scanned the distance, blending into the crowd.

It didn’t take long for his eyes to lock onto the adventurer guild building.

A tall Western-style building, reminiscent of Maribel’s main castle and arena.

East End was 2 stories tall, but the adventurer guild at Izerland Fortress appeared to be 3 stories.

The massive double doors at the front were quite impressive, with a wide platform right in front.

Part of the staircase was a ramp, making it easy for carriages to access.

Beyond the gigantic entrance, the guild reception area appeared smaller due to perspective, stretching out in the east and west.

Guild staff, dressed neatly in uniforms, were handling a swarm of adventurers with overwhelming energy.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement, as if in the midst of a lively event.

The voices of people rose beyond murmurs, echoing like thunder against the ceiling of the vast hall.

 ”──Huh? You!”

 ”……?”

When he turned at the voice, he saw a familiar young man with long brown hair, standing with a spear on his shoulder.

 Kian blinked in surprise.

 ”Guillaume?”

”Haha, I’m honored you remembered my name, Kian. It’s been a while since the banquet after the knighting ceremony.”

A handsome man with a refreshing smile showing his white teeth──Guillaume of Izerland.

He is the man who will play an exhibition match against Oswald at the upcoming Knights of the Sun succession ceremony.

He had 2 men behind him.

”It’s been a while. I thought you were based in the East End?”

”I’m going to stay here for a while until I’ve finished my business. ──I’m glad to hear you’re doing well.”

”I’m not feeling well though. Haha…”

Young Guillaume leans on his spear and pushes back his bangs.

He thought he was trying to act cool, but then he noticed a red swelling on his forehead that looked like a burn scar.

”And also… look, on my arm too.”

”That’s terrible. If you pay me, I’ll heal you.”

”I don’t need it. I’ll be able to do it again soon anyway.”

 Guillaume shrugged at that.

 He continued.

”Still, it was unexpected. I’ve heard of ‘Sword Saint of the Sun’ Oswald, a swordsman with the strange ability to amplify his magic power until noon, but his sword skills are scarier than the ‘Sun’s magic power.’ I’m glad I got to experience this here. If I’d had to fight him as a mercenary, I wouldn’t have stood a chance.”

”──Today was the first practice day. Guillaume and I tried to be clever, but to sum it up, it went terribly.”

A warrior with a shield frowned from the back as he said that.

Looking closely, he was holding his right arm as if to protect it.

He must have received at least basic healing, but the pain still lingers.

The last of Guillaume’s companions let out a sigh.

His fine cloak was burned and tattered. Then he said something.

”Honestly, even though we can practice, I’m incredibly anxious about the exhibition match. I heard that Sir Oswald will be giving it his all, but we fight just before noon. A shallow cut ignites… what can we do?”

”He was almost about to set my prized ponytail on fire too. You wouldn’t know it, but my bangs are already singed in several places. I’ve been growing this precious hair since before leaving my father’s territory, and now it’s a disaster.”

Guillaume grimaced and reached back to touch it.

”Guillaume, is that what you’re worried about…”

”You idiot, this long hair is my life”

”──Is that long hair a hindrance when you swing your sword?”

Kian asked, but Guillaume ignored the flow of the conversation and asked:

”By the way, you’re an Azraelian and a skilled swordsman, aren’t you? Perhaps you know the true nature of the mysterious technique used by Sir Oswald.”

”I was banished 15 years ago. I don’t know if I can live up to your expectations──”

”By the way, Sir Oswald created a clone”

Guillaume said this with a serious expression.

 He repeats.

”Sir Oswald duplicated himself. I felt a surge of magic power, and suddenly multiple shadows appeared around us 3. At first, I thought it was an illusion, but each Sir Oswald had physical attack power. Moreover, when he swung his sword, he seemed to jump back and then vanished like mist. It was just like fog. What do you think? Do you understand anything?”

In response to Guillaume’s question, Kian answered after a brief pause.

 ”That’s probably ‘domain’.”

 ”Domain?”

”Does such a technique exist in Azrael’s Dance Swordsmanship?”

 Kian nodded.
