Christy, who was watching from the side, looks incredibly shocked.

Not noticing her friend’s expression, Maribel’s cheeks flushed pink as she shyly smiled.

 ”Knight, rise.”

 ”W-wait, Kian!? Kian! Ahhhh!”

”Knight, rise! As for my name──I have not yet decided. I will think it over before the next formal occasion. Knight, rise!”

 ”Huh?”

Standing up, he received the sword from Maribel.

”It feels strange to cheer for ‘Thorn Demon’, but today, please face the strongest swordsman for my sake.”

 ”Knights fight for noble maidens.”

Kian, while sheathing his long sword, gazed at the golden-haired princess.

”Understood. Today, I shall wield my sword for Your Excellency.”

”Have you relaxed? Or was that meddling?”

”I appreciate your feelings. Thank you.”

 ”Is that so?”

”──W-wait a second, Manon!? What did that kiss mean? Isn’t it a slap for the knight’s accolade!? It’s not a kiss, right!?”

”Christy, let’s head back. The ceremony will begin soon.”

 ”Ah, wait a second, Manon!”

The black-haired witch seemed eager to follow Maribel, then suddenly stopped and turned back.

 ”You’ll explain everything later.”

 ”What about?”

”Shut up, you fool! Die! If you touch Manon, I won’t forgive you! ──Ah, Manon! Wait, hold on!”

Like a breeze they came, and as a storm they left──2 beautiful girls.

Kian watched their backs while placing his hand on the cheek that had just touched Maribel’s lips.

 ”Sir Kian.”

 ”Hmm, what is it…? Huh!?”

As he turned at Natra’s voice, his lips were sealed.

A hot, swirling tongue invaded, forcibly driving away the sensation of the earlier child’s kiss from his mind.

 ”Mmm…♡”

The brown-skinned girl licked Kian’s cheek one last time, brushing her saliva-covered lips with her finger as she pulled away.

”…Please focus on the combat. Is that clear?”

 ”Ah, of course.”

Natra’s kiss was rough, as if forcibly taken.

It reminded him of the heat of battle.

The girl before him would be his partner from now on.

Therefore, he must remember the sensation of her skin.

 ”Face the enemy without fear──huh?”

 ”Naturally.”

 ”That’s right.”

(I am a challenger. A challenger needs courage.)

 He donned his helmet.

The full-face design greatly restricted his vision.

From now on, he would disguise himself and fight under another’s name.

Only Maribel and the others knew this.

 ”――――.”

Kian took a deep breath and knelt down to begin meditating.

* * *

(I heard Kian was suddenly pulled from today’s guard duty. I wonder if something happened?)

While patrolling the western section of the arena, Serena thought of her missing party member.

She believed Kian would be fine, but it was quite unsettling that Waterman personally conveyed such news.

She hoped he wasn’t caught up in something strange──.

 ”Huh?”

As she rounded the first-floor corridor, she spotted a strangely dressed man emerging from the kitchen.

A tall man wearing glasses and a white apron.

(Armor bearing the Owl emblem. A knight from somewhere.)

Still, Serena approached the man to confirm.

He seemed to have noticed her long ago and turned toward her without much surprise.

”Well, well, what a lovely guard you are. Thank you for your hard work.”

”Excuse me, but who are you?”

”I am Owl. Knight to Her Excellency Maribel, and I am in charge of the kitchen today.”

”Ah, so you are Lord Owl.”

”Yes. Is that all for the questioning?”

”Yes. I apologize for bothering you during your busy time.”

 ”Not at all.”

Owl said softly as he passed by Serena.

A strong scent of Azrael perfume wafted by.

Today, many guests wore perfume, and the venue smelled terrible to Serena.

Many customers were wearing perfumes today, and the venue smelled terrible for Serena.

The scent of Azrael worn by the man was also uncomfortable for the silver wolf Girl, just like other noble guests.

”Ah, there was something I wanted to ask.”

 ”────!?”

Suddenly, the voice of the Owl Knight whispered in her ear, startling her as she turned around.

The tall knight, who should have been some distance away, was now right in front of Serena.

(I felt no presence at all. It was as if I were dealing with mist or shadow.)

The Owl stared intently at Serena with his unblinking, white-eyed gaze, causing her to instinctively become wary due to her warrior instincts.

”What business do the Wolfmen have in our land?”

 ”…I’m traveling.”

”What happened to your pack? The Wolfmen are supposed to avoid acting alone.”

 ”…It’s none of your concern.”

 ”Hmm.”

The Owl stroked his smoothly shaved chin as he averted his gaze from Serena.

Soon, a smile appeared on his face.

”Since the Wolfmen are associated with conflict, I was a bit curious. I wondered if mercenaries were coming and going in Izerland. Does this fortress carry the scent of battle?”

 ”To some extent.”

”I see. I apologize for stopping you. Well then.”

The Owl Knight bowed and finally began to leave.

Serena stood frozen in place, watching as his back disappeared down the hallway.
